This is Bush. It's dirty. That is grunge. It's meant to feel raw. It's not meant to be polished and clean. Their new stuff is FANTASTIC. But, it's not 'grunge'. It's polished modern rock. Don't compare Bullet Holes to this. Nigel did the band a huge service in his style.
How do i put this without being offensive? The "Grunge" Was popular back than now "polished Rock" is what you do if you wanne sell rock music now. They went with what was going to sell. That being said: I love these guys. And i agree with you about Nigel. What has always put them apart from other Grunge or Post-Grunge bands for me is this kind of "intertwined" guitar work they played. They played like their minds and soul came together in one pre chorus (sry the 4 theatricality here) when Gavin and and Nigel played together. And sixteen stone? Hell i listened to it probably more than to Nevermind. But they always looked for what was marketable. It's a necessary evil. Would they started more recently they would have probably started out with Indie... and still kicked anyone else's ass doing it.
Jan Doe although Gavin has always been the songwriter in the band, he was always influenced by the main guitarist in the band. And when Nigel left, the sound/riffs also changed. Also, vocals started to become a lot more the focal point of the band.

Daniel McIsaac exactly, Nigel was amazing, creative and dynamic. Chris is good also, but his playing is too clean.

Charlie Fader yeah Nigel plays sloppy and he has crazy energy, all those crazy sounds you hear are Nigel
@@brandonm9563 yeah, Nigel playing lead lines with strumming all strings really adds energy and dynamics. Chris just moves his wrist a little...
