    I have had my mixer for over 20 years and have made pasta with the kitchen aid attachments and found them to be of good quality. yes you can make pasta by hand but the pasta attachment is quicker and easier. I don't have the ravioli attachment but the pasta maker rolls out the dough perfectly, then I just do the rest by hand. use the proper speeds and don't overload ur machine and they keep on ticking.

    Interesting. I love my KA mixer and the pasta roller attachment is awesome for rolling out perfect sheets of dough. I'd really like to try this ravioli maker but I agree it costs way too much.

    Two questions: is the mixture only going in the "holes" or also between other areas of the pasta, as this will not make it stick. Secondly, when you placed the ravioli on the pan, there were multiple big side openings where it did not seal properly with the machine. Is there a third step involved to close the ravioli edges with a fork? Thanks. Looks delicious.

    Not sure if people are still watching or commenting on this product or site...but here's a secret...most of Kitchenaid pasta products are made by Marcato, Kitchenaid just thew their special attachment end on one side for their machines and raised the price to unreal amounts. If you look around on the net, you see Marcato products closely next to any Kitchenaid pasta products for a fraction of the cost...Now, you'll need to be a little mechanically inclined to attach the Marcato's products to your Kitchenaid, but for hundreds less...I think you'll figure it out...I did

    Quick question. I got my kitchen aid 600 professional like yours just with a glass bowl. The attachment hook that you screw in fell off of mine and I had to put it back in. Also when attempting to get it out of the box the bowl hit the attachment head where the kitchen aid label shuts/opens. Is that typically sort of loose or did I screwing up?!

    I have a Kitchenaid Professional 600. It says this will fit in all mixers, but I noticed the attachment is round. The receiver on the mixer is square. Round peg, square hole...how does that work?

    • @Williams-Sonoma
      @Williams-Sonoma  8 лет назад

      +AversaS Good question! The hub on the stand mixer is rounded first, then has a square insert. That square insert is used to power attachments, but the ravioli attachment actually doesn't include square insert since it's hand powered.
      In short: The item will definitely work on your KitchenAid Professional 600! If you'd like to see it in action, we also carry it in stores, so feel free to pop into your local Williams-Sonoma to check it out in person.
      Hope this helps!

      @@Williams-Sonoma I thought the same thing when I received mine! However, the reason it's not square is that it's not supposed to grab and turn! It's a hand crank, not machine cranked. Basically, the stand mixer just serves as a stand with this attachment!

    I'm thinking about purchasing this attachment for my mixer as well, seen it for $229.99 at canadian tire which is really expensive for the amount of time I'll be making freeh pasta at home. Also at 1:56 i noticed that the ravioli edges arrant properly seals, I'm guessing that would open up while boiling? Anyhow cool video, keep up the great work!

      you can use the regular roller for making the flat base, and pizza cutters for ravioli. It seems like a good attachment but not for $225. Plus making your own faviolis is fun and more crafty

  • @makingiteasywithliz

    She forgot to tell you to give it a 1/4 turn to catch the pasta into the rollers before adding the filling. A shot of the filling in the hopper would have been helpful to see what "not over filled" looks like. This is so vague and not useful at all. There are many more videos that are more in depth and helpful. I'm glad I only wasted a couple minutes watching this.

    Wow, love kitchenaid pasta roller, but I am glad I watched this first before buying the ravioli maker. A HAND CRANK... such BS.

      I can't help but agree with you - A $400 mixer and yet you HAND CRANK the ravioli maker! There are better ways to make ravioli - watch my 'pasta plate' video.

      tarotbear feel free to turn on the mixer: make sure you will be able to put ravioli filling fast enough and spread it properly :)

      +Andrey Cherneha Prior to watching the video I guess I expected it to be automatic like the roller and cutter attachments but it makes sense that you'd have to hand-crank it to add filling as you go.

    Wanted to see how the attachment works and honestly it’s probably the dumbest attachment out there. Better to just make the sheet of pasta and fill it manually. Would be equally as fast but you could have more options and shapes.

    Just tried the KA ravioli attachment for the first time tonight. Epic
    failure. Made a major mess, wasted a lot of dough (not just the money I paid for it), wasted a lot of filling, and very time consuming with little output. I think I'll stick with the old fashion, time tested ravioli making method. No complaints about any other pasta attachment though.

    • @Vega3001

      I had the same experience. major disappointment on my 1st attempt. Wasn't a dough issue because like you I went back to hand stamping and they worked as normal.

    This attachment is a TOTAL waste of money. The mixer basically stands by and watches you make ravioli. It plays no part in the production process.

      +poker slob Exactly! Like every time I take a shit on my toilet, the shower just stands by and watches me make ravioli. It plays no part in the production process. What a waste of money!

    So all of you who agree that this is crap after you bought it.... did you not look at the box or read reviews when you purchased it? If you don't like it then keep making ravioli the "time tested, old fashioned way" damn.

    The KitchenAid does literally NOTHING. You are attaching a Ravioli making device to a KitchenAid for it to do NOTHING. My Manual Stand-alone Ravioli Maker is the same design as this (right down to the insert) but entirely metal and does not require a “KitchenAid”.
    This is literally the same thing… but for some reason attaches to a device that doesn’t even do anything other than attach…

    How lazy are you guys that cranking this is a problem... she made raviolis in less than 2 minutes. I'm sure that's quicker than any of you could have done it by doing it all by hand.

    • @AversaS2
      @AversaS2 8 лет назад +3

      +Jessica Parente No. I agree with them. For nearly $150, it should run with the machine. You can buy a free standing one for $20. It's insane that the only reason this is "Kitchenaid" is so it can be supported by the mixer. Stupid.

    • @jessicaparente8182
      @jessicaparente8182 8 лет назад +2

      +AversaS then don't buy it. Do you know how fast it would go if it turned on with the machine? There's no way you would be able to stuff them that fast
