I have noticed at lot of box squatters slightly rock backwards on the box and then rock forward to generate momentum when rising from the floor. Since a rock would not be possible when squatting without the box, is the goal to eliminate this rock from your technique?
The studies being behind the practical work thing is something Charles Poliquin always said too - and was criticized for.
"If you squat wide, it's typically gonna help when you bring your feet together"

Box squats don't do jack for athletes or anyone not wearing a clown suit.

@@bsmitley Because the mechanics are designed specifically for executing a squat in a suit and does not mimic a raw squat.
