@@zylowolfzan3345 adding sugar to foods is not necessarily always for sweetness. Sugar balances out the flavors of a dish. If you actually look into the ingredients of certain fried rice dishes, there’s either a little bit of sugar or sweetness coming from another type of sauce.

Exactly, just umami goes a long way. But sweetness in a lot of times is to cut off edges of say bitterness or tartness. Which would be used depends on the recipe but definitely not all of them

Some kind fried rice can hvae a little sweetener, like nasi goreng. But you usually just use sweet soy sauce, or similar sauce that's sweet like oyster sauce, or add a little sugar (which is very rarely needed). Honey and agave though? That's closer to pancake than fried rice
