If your wondering about the music choice i chose this as its called 'Ocean Floor' quite fitting i thought :)
This looks fun , the visual of your video is enough to understand what needs to be done. Thank you
I'm glad you made use of the video 👍
Thanks so much! I have literally the same boat. This is my goal!! Stripping it now!
I am glad you have made use from my video ❤️
that music was getting real murdery...i like it!
+Nick Edwards it's one of RUclips's finest!!
+Nick Edwards I've changed the Music Nick, Hope you approve and managed not to murder any thing
Nice job
Thankyou :)
Great video, I have a very similar 17' bow rider, similar engine. I'm going to do the same project (probably not worth it, but it looks like fun and I love building things). Do you use 3/4" plywood everywhere? Is that regular plywood or marine plywood? How much sanding do you need to do for the fiberglass to stick well? I've done fiberglass before, but I'm wondering if there's a layer I need to sand through for good bonding. I wonder if regular plywood with a coat / layer of fiberglass would hold up against water and time? Thank you for any answers in advance.
I think it was 3/5" ply. I did sand anything for the fibre glass and I had no problems 👍
Best to burn the boat. I done that sort of work for twenty years and glad I stopped
Can you please tell me how did you fix the perpendicular playwood sheets (stringers? beams? onto which you laid the flooring) to the bottom of the boat? Just fiberglass/resin or did you also glue them?
Ciao, complimenti per il lavoro, potresti dirmi la marca e il modello della barca? Grazie
Hey James, great video. Thanks a lot for sharing. Can you provide your best guesstimate time and money wise for a project like this? I have a very similar boat and currently considering to start this project. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Hi, thanks for your comment. It took me about 2 days to do the floor and about 5 days to do upholstery and a few days to service engine, clean boat and make sure everything's works. Because I do it all myself it didn't cost much... The floor was probably £200/300 in materials.
I hope this helps
James
How did you get the stringers so accurate? I have a 1987 sea ray Seville that needs this done to it.
Wished there was commentary on the how to for beginners
Yes! You know... a tutorial, rather than a before and after slideshow
What does it cost to have this done?
Hello.. unfortunately there is no set cost. As you will understand, every boat is different from the next.. we used to always say 'B.O.A.T - Bust-Out-Another-Thousand' due to the hobby being so expensive :/
How much did this cost looks great
I can't remember now, around £300 in materials Id say
How long did this take how many days?
I can't remember exactly as I refurbished the whole boat.
So I have a boat that has a stringer and just one, the center stringer. The boat also has 4xw’s just at each side of the inside of the boat. He said he put new flooring in, but I don’t think that’s correct. What will happen if I go for a ride? Will the boat collapse?
So now i get how the floor stringers run thanks, how ever is the ply sealed off on the edges or is there drain passages under the stringers
+jonn g HI Jonn
It's your choice with sealing them, I used fiberglass and fibreglass resin on the tops with holes and or channels for drainage
James Ford Does everything! Awesome. This video really simplified it all for me, thanks bud!
jonn g No worries... give me a shout if you need more info
+jonn g how did you get on with your floor Jon?
James Ford Does everything! I followed your video as close as possible. It turned out flawless very sturdy and most importantly she float no leaks and drains just perfect thank you so much man your video really helped me out!!!
Just uploaded some videos of my boat. Come one come all as I restore it. I’ll do all the work, I promise!
Are you accusing me of using someone else's footage?
No I’m not. Sorry for promoting I was only looking for people to give me tips on my first restore. You’re welcome to delete my comment. Wasn’t trying to start any negativity and I enjoyed your video.
Oh jeez.. sorry, I think I've replied to the wrong comment.
Sorry :(
I think RUclips had deleted the comment in question but when I clicked on it it must have linking to this comment.
Again, Sorry Mate :/
James Ford I know which one you’re talking about as I got a notification of it and I think it must have got deleted from profanity.
It had the word 'd**k' in it I think, I couldn't read the full comment.
Thanks for your understanding. It's things like that that ruin RUclips for genuine users.
Anyhoo...
If I can help you out in any way let me know :)
GOod Music in the Beginning I can dig it .... BUT James are you telling me that it is possible to repair a floor in sections RATHER THAN an entire floor????????????????? AMAZING but James what if one hole within that one section of the floor reaches all the way down to the ground foundation..... is partial restoration still an option?????
Im not sure what you mean? You can repair sections if needed
@@blackrandomapple I'm amazed that floors actually can be repaired within small sections; rather than replacing the entire floor. Also, a RUclipsr has clarified a restoration question for me; so thanks hun.
No worries. Anything can be repaired within reason if done properly! Its hard to say what exactly without having more info ect. Happy to help further if needed 👍
good video..not looking forward to that on my boat......tho the music......the music.......reminded me of dead space.
+Nikki Vix it's a pretty big job to do, good luck. If you need anymore info let me know!
I am replacing the floor on the same boat. Can we collaborate? If not please add info on all your cuts
How much would that cost to have it done professionally?
It'd all depend on the boat ect.. This particular project would cpst arounf 3-4k for floor and upholstery
why don't you glass the tops of the stringers?
+Matthew Boyd I guess it's personal preference on some things... was a while ago now but I'm sure I had my reasons :-)
Doing it right cost more in materials. Unsealed wood is where the rot starts.
How long did this project take?
A few months on and off in my spare time :)
I don't just want to see what you did, I want to hear what you did.
Sorry, it was a while ago. I'll bare your suggesting in mind for the future:)
If I sent you a video of my boat could you give me some pointers?
I can certainly try :)
James Ford wanna send me an email so I can send you it. My email is jacobcheramie@gmail.com
James Ford just posted some videos
did you tie the two consoles back into the floor? I am starting my stringers when the weather gets a little better and that's one thing I haven't figured out yet thanks
BBC's Hi, the seats and bases were secured once floor was complete, the reason for this was to allow for adjustment
Doesn't talk thro prosses
I am so sure that you will find good way to make it on woodprix.
Woodprix?
Yes James
Someone want to help me do mine? TIA
Should have taken the motor out to and put a electric motor in there with some batteries that would have been a conversion
I could have also painted it rainbow colours, stuck a horn on the front somewhere and called it a unicorn-version.
@@blackrandomapple you fucking champion 😂
Talking about what you did in the video would be more helpful than the music.
Sorry about that :(
This was no help...
Sorry to hear that. I hope you succeed in what ever it you you have been trying to accomplish 👍👊
No instruction. No context. No Quality. LOTS of obnoxious, schizophrenic noise.
Thankyou for your negative comment, sorry that you didn't like my video. Unfortunately I am not an expert when it comes to tutorials. Thankfully Many people have benefited from my Video. I could have not done a video at all!!
I take on board your opinion and I hope you have a great day and feel better for sharing your negativity :)
