when drx played 100t on breeze on defence they would actually let the jett push down mid. against loud ive seen my ranked teammates have better strats than drx on defence.
If DRX play at their peak they can easily reach the grand finals. Honestly they should hire some sports psychologist. It did wonders for Astralis in CSGO, went from major chokers to 4 time Major champions.
all of their problems could have been solved by swapping skye for kayo. The knife is good at dealing with split pushes. Knife A main when Sova drones and fight the hall/mid side of split
it hurts to see the viper wall get no use. Its like watching some1 do a play cause the pros do it with little to no clue why the pros do it. The wall loses 90% of the value because they just don't play off it.
At their best, DRX look like they've got everything it takes to becoming grand finalists - possibly even champions. But it seems that once their set plays get denied, they end up crumbling because they're not able to adapt in time. And sometimes, that may not really be the faults of the players themselves. Yes, they should be realizing this sooner, but considering they have four coaches, you would think that any one of those coaches would have pointed out these issues and helped them work through them. DRX's set plays are certainly beautiful to watch when they get to execute them, but those kinds of plays can only take you so far. No matter how much you anti-strat, there are always going to be uncontrollable factors that you need to have contingencies for, which is where it seems DRX are lost for. I will say, though, the scheduling definitely does not help them out. Part of the reason why they may have an issue of always going out 5th/6th is possibly because every single big VCT event has the exact same scheduling, where teams who lose the upper semis have to play an elimination round the very next day. Not to say that it's an excuse - FPX clearly showed that it was possible to play back-to-back games every single day and manage to come out on top - but it could be one of the bigger reasons why DRX just aren't able to rid themselves of that 5th/6th place curse. Still rooting for them anyway as I think they've shown a largely improved side to their teamplay, and all the narratives that have been broken in this Championships has got the believer in me going. DRX have displayed glimmers of brilliance for sure, but I agree that there's still a lot they need to work on that can't be fixed overnight.
Agree, the players are doing their best with all they've got. And it's not as if they're doing anything wrong or going against the basics and what they've been taught or coached. It all really comes down to coaching. The casters and analysts on the set even easily point out what they did wrong that it makes me wonder how the coaches seem not to see it and fix it. As you said, it can't be fixed overnight but I really hope they do fix it. The sooner, the better. And if it's impossibly soon then we might even see them get it at the Champions.
And yes, the scheduling too is a big factor why they got choked. All that fatigue and lack of sleep for the back to back preparations. You'd think Riot would know that by now and consider giving a better schedule or even spacing bw the games. Seems like (and they ofc would) opt for what will get them to put out money the least (the venue, etc etc).
"But it seems that once their set plays get denied, they end up crumbling because they're not able to adapt in time." Wtf are you talking about. Its a defense problem, set plays have nothing to do with it. The DRX are all "setplay" is so retarded and was only true for first strike and berlin VS. 2022 they have been playing slow af in attacking halves, and its not set plays at all, its just map work then execute with what you have after using util to take map control. YOU KNOW... LIKE ANY OTHER FUCKING TEAM AND THEY RARELY EVEN USE SETPLAYS IN ATTACK ANYMORE AS IT GETS SUTDOWN UNTIL YOU USE IT AS A SURPRISE ROUND

I feel like I haven't "understood" breeze as a map yet. I play viper most of the time and even though I'm a reasonably high rank I don't ever win breeze because of cool setups or a deep understanding of the macro game. Could you potentially do a series outlining the basic "idea" of each map and how to play each map to it's strengths?
he did, he made a “how to attack/defend” for each map when his channel was much smaller. although i don’t think there’s one for pearl and fracture but if i’m not mistaken on the Acend main channel he made one for them on fracture

NEW IDEA!!!!!! Have Viper molly lineups to stop the attacking Vipers from being able to use their lineups post-plant since most players won't have additional backups near the lineups they already use, and most players are bad at free shooting crossmap mollys to an exact location.
It's understandable why people would think this but I also think it's closed minded to think Loud ain't that good. They're literally one of the strongest teams world and have proven themselves.
angry or happy w them, they played their hearts out against fnc. zest looked lackluster for the first couple games, but Mako could make a case for tournament mvp. hopefully they stick w their strats and keep winning

Honestly I agree with people saying that KAY/O here instead of Skye would've worked better, if you can't do anything against a SINGLE Sova drone or a split just use a KAY/O knife and molly, and use the initiators on site instead of Sova peeking mid and Jett hiding in A cubby. (Like at 12:03)
I don't know if it'll work as well in pro play but in ranked as a Sova player on breeze, I've darted on top of A main as they're coming out a lot, and I just shoot them while they're pinged; it works surprisingly well. I think DRX's viper wall on A is really good for this too since it's a little deeper on site. Idk, TMV saying that Jetts usually play mid nest, getting aggro made me think about switching the Jett and the Sova's positions in DRX's default defense
Mako is by far the rattiest player in the tournament. Bro is constantly avoiding taking contact and swinging off other ppls contact. Sure he can survive on site but the amount of times he is last alive is crazy because he is willing to give up control on site as long as he stays alive rather than slowing down the push/trying to isolate a 1v1. Ultimately, either relying on him getting ratty kills or being forced to clutch a 1v3. Aim wise he is far from the other supporter players like marved, mindfreak and pancada

I feel like drx is ahead of the curve with like the strats they have but once they don't work they have no backup plan and then they get stuck
DRX is ahead of the curve *on attack*. On defense, they don't have any clue about what to do and their backup plan is just "kill them I guess".
