You should visit Hamm! Nothing compares to that. I bet if you talk to the organizers and explain who you are and what you do, they will let you film for sure. Would make for a pretty cool video, since no big reptile channel on youtube has a video of the Hamm reptile expo. But even if you are not allowed you shouldn't miss out on the biggest reptile expo in the world. Probably gonna be on the next one myself.
Would be cool to let us know when you go there, cause from what I noticed going through your comment section etc. you seem to have quite a lot of fans from Germany, myself included :D
I really like that high red corn snake. I would love to see more naturalistic set-ups available for sale like that in the US. Europe is definitely a step ahead there!
My very first reptile was a bearded dragon. Then a Jesus lizard he was awesome to have, then a turtle and then I let a rescue move into my house and had 350 different types of Reptiles. We use to do reptile shows with an alligator that people could hold. After a year I had all his Reptiles ceased because he wasn’t feeding them or taking care of them the way they was supposed to be. I love to watch the expo. And see how beautiful these Reptiles are and how well they’re taking care of and loved. Thank you for loving the Reptiles and bringing knowledge to the people.
This is my first time seeing your videos and I LOVE them! My favorite part was seeing the crested geckos, Especially that big still have there tails. I have three, one baby, one juvenile, and one adult. I purchased them at my very first Repticon Orlando Fl visit last weekend. My boyfriend and I are ball python lovers / breeders among other reps. but we have definitely just fell in love with the cresties lol.
Epic! I’ve never been to a reptile expo (we only really have one proper expo here in England and it’s a good two hour drive away from me), but this one did look amazing! I think that the pied pectinata were my favourites.
This was an awesome video and I have to say my favorite part was that black and yellow crested gecko! I really love lizards have had beardies, gecko's and an iguana and that crested gecko my just be the coolest lizard I've seen.
Yes it was a spectacular example. Only seen them on internet-although I live in NZ which is fairly close to New Caledonia. Great series from Dave K. on those islands. I currently live in an area which once contained the Kawekaweau which was the biggest gecko ever known. Occasionally people come out with 'possible' sightings. Above me fly hawks-five hundred years ago the world's biggest ever eagle (Hapagornis) probably flew here-thought to be effectively the tiger of the skies! Most beautiful lizards I've ever seen are NZ's Naultinus elegans yellow/ lime variant with purple blue 👅 tongue , the jewelled gecko (gemmeus) and the extremely rare NZ Harlequin gecko.(seen photos only) . Also some Nephrurus Oz geckos and of course some beautiful Crested's, Leachies and even some Leopards +pure white BT skinks . Hopefully the trade in smuggled NZ gex is waning/ending. They don't breed fast enough to sustain smuggling etc -not that smuggling is ever right. Fijian banded iguana at Auckland Zoo was also very beautiful.
@@rickh3714 I very much envy you. I live in Ohio, USA while we do have a couple cool species of skink, turtles and lots of arachnids we don't have many lizard species. I passionately love reptiles of all types yet hands down I love lizards more than anything. When i was a kid growing up in Florida, USA I spent most of my days catching the many different kinds of geckos/lizards/snakes and admiring things like Alligator snapping turtles and Alligators. I miss it so much especially now that there are stabilized populations of many invasive pet trade species there as well but my heart is in Ohio. One day I will retire there and once again be able to enjoy it all again. Thats where folks like Dave and Brian Barczyk come in handy for me, Dave with his adventures across the globe and Brian with his breeding business and recently open Reptarium. They fill the void for me for now and I really enjoy their videos so much that I don't think any of my other channel notifications garner a quicker click to watch. Thanks for sharing with me what its like there, who knows maybe someday I'll find my way there. Also sorry to hear about the issues with the illegal export of some of your areas prized species, there is always a negative/downside people will always take advantage if they know there is money to be had. Hopefully breeding efforts will put a dent in that to allow some of the species to once again flourish throughout your beautiful country. Thanks for your comment and hope to see you around other videos!
Brandon O'Neal Thanks for your reply. Yes we have quite incredible lizard diversity for such a small country. Thing to remember though is that mostly they are restricted to particular locales within regions. The species divisions while increasing are sometimes marginal in an appearance sense although the genetics can be quite variable. Indicating long standing geographic separation due to historical flooding events, tsunami I suspect and now fires from the mass clearing of native bush and forests in the 19th and 20th century. Despite looking intermittently I have only found the forest gecko in the wild and that was in the 80's! I have seen numerous skinks however - Smithi, moco, ornata (my garden) aenea (also - although some claim they don't cohabit!) amongst others. Yep, we have invasive species as well! I only recently discovered a large population of Australian plague skinks on my walk into town (Lampropholis delicata) . These were so small and fast that I though they were insects initially. Babies are hardly an inch and a quarter long. Some had orange heads others the characteristic rainbow iridescent shimmer that their other common name indicates (Rainbow skink). This area was an infestation of Danubian Reed invasive plant species here amongst many! On one walk I counted 51 individual skinks as I walked 100 yrds of so! This pop. has much reduced since they sprayed the reeds! Snake wise I have spoken to a local fisherman a decade or more back who had found Pelamis platura? in his net. We also get L.aurea the rare ( in Australia but not here) golden Bell frog in wild ( and saw one yesterday in my mother's garden ) Good luck with your herping!
That is a mindblowing expo. I bet you had a great time in the Netherlands, they have great beer along with everything else. It's crazy that there are bats for sale. I wonder what the husbandry is like for them. What species were they? Awesome vlog! Love seeing a show in another country.

It is funny how you mentioned those terrariums and the fact they are relly cheap. And then we Dutch people are there, walking around, finding it at least 10 to 20 euros to much xD If you want to see more of the special kinds of snake you should try to go to Snakeday at Houten. Same room and the one next to it normally, but filled with 99% snakes.
This video was uploaded from U.S.customs because Dāv got caught smuggling in some amazing snakes. Congrats on the Europe trip, cant wait to see whats next.
That Retic with all the circle patterns on its sides was my favorite, and I think the terrariums were great too and the price was really good. I've heard that the Netherlands' laws are much stricter and expect you to have more spacious cages for reptiles than here in the US. The only good part of that is that it is likely easier to find good caging instead of the cramped commercial tanks or overpriced rack systems they sell here in America. I do like the Aluma-racks because they're like Freedom Breeder but much lighter weight to handle! I wish they had a distributor here in the US. I notice many of the European rack systems have tubs that are more visible too. It's nice to be able to see your animals and for them to see out without having to open ever drawer to do so especially for people who have accumulated a large collection. That way they don't miss anything that needs attention.
I agree about the tubs. Enclosures in European collections are light years apart from what we're doing in the US. You'll see them in upcoming episodes.
