    One thing that I learned from my time in Alaska: always keep small (8x8x8 inch cube) space heaters and tarps. So if you want to ride intermittently during the winter, then full-on winterizing is out of the question. But since we're both in the lower 48, let's say the weather the past few days was in the teens at night but will be in the upper 40's the next couple of days. Time to ride! Drape the tarp around your bike, and engage one or two small space heaters for about an hour. Use one extension cord per heater, 12 AWG or thicker. Safety! Even just one heater does the trick. Two is just faster. Put the heater in a safe spot underneath the tarp and point at the center of your bike - rear cylinder and battery area. Get it close, it won't hurt metal parts that get hot on their own. Make sure the tarp doesn't touch directly to the heater. The safest type is without the glowing red hot heated coils. Just simple electric heat and fan. It's amazing when all you do is warm up the oil and battery how willing your machine is to start. Combustion machines and humans aren't too different lol
    And yes, always use a Battery Tender.

      This is really good to know, especially if there's a break in the weather forecast.

    I have been using my quad lok for over a year with my IPhone on a BMW GS Adventure and my camera is fine.
    I have about 200 miles off-road and about 10,000 miles on highway and city roads, same mount same phone and still good.

    That is a beautiful scout bobber. I just bought a 2021 Maroon Indian Scout bobber a couple of weeks ago. I can’t stop riding it! Wow. Thanks for taking the time to do and upload these videos. The tank leather and bags look awesome. And, I am having the same questions about storing in a cold garage over the winter. I don’t have a trickle charger yet but need to get stuff like that. At age 60, still learning. I want to ride this bobber as long as I possibly can! Have fun enjoy!

      Hello Brian. You will get plenty of advice on bike storage over the winter. Everyone has there own technique Here is my method for WI cryogenic put down that I have used for 46 yrs.
      1. If oil is has low mileage, do not bother changing until it's due.
      2. Keep battery in the bike with a battery tender connected all winter. You also could remove battery if you feel better doing that also.
      3. Keep tires at proper pressure per manual.
      4. Most important to me is to fill gas tank with Non-ethanol premium gas. Skip any fuel stabilizer, as it has little effect. ( see ruclips.net/video/chsGBhB5g7o/видео.html)
      5. Whatever you are told, do not start bike for any reason until riding season begins. This only adds moisture to the internals, and has no positive effect.
      6. Some people I know elevate bike, or put a few layers of cardboard underneath the tires. I cannot not say if this really does anything for tires or not. I see plenty of cars that sit on lots all winter with no ill effect. This was more critical when tires were manufactured in the 60's with more nylon being added during manufacturing. I have never notice any flat spots ever.
      Enjoy the bike
      Mike

    As far as gas goes we used a can of 87 octane that was put in shed and left sitting since summer of 2018. We used it in two different small engines and one side by side. So after about three years and change it worked fine. I don't know if there is some long term damage possible but it worked normal and I don't even know when the stuff was put in the can. I would think keeping gas in the tank for one winter isn't an issue as long as water can't find it's way inside the tank.

      Gas goes bad by mixing with water, which it pulls from the air and from condesation inside the tank. The more full the tank is, the better. It would require more water from the air, and doesn't allow for condesation to form inside the tank. Fuel stabalizer also attracts water, but to a lesser extent. It's better to just use ethanol free gas for storage, which can last a really long time without going bad.

    • @Dragoninja833
      @Dragoninja833 2 года назад

      But yeah, the cold only effects your battery more than anything. Letting it get too cold isn't great for it, but you don't want it in your house either, as it could catch fire. Its not likely to happen, but trickle chargers fail sometimes and batteries blow up sometimes.
      When I lived in New Hampshire I would bring my battery inside and trickle charge while it was in a sealed metal box I could throw out the window if need be. Otherwise I would be replacing batteries far too often. Luckily moto batteries are a lot cheaper than car batteries.

    Is that spring on the seat works like additional shocks? Much mor comfortable than the stock seat? Thank you and drive safe!

    • @vinnymacpr
      @vinnymacpr  2 года назад

      Had a Corbin seat before this, which was super comfortable. Was nervous switching to the saddle, but was pleasantly surprised. Yes the springs give a little extra cushion when hitting bumps, but I also have upgraded front and rear shocks, so I’m getting cushion all around.
      Anything is better than the stock seat for sure, but this is a good compromise between comfort and style.

      I was able to finesse them under and buckle them up. Otherwise you can take off the rider seat and undo the tank bolts under the rubber pad to give the tank enough of a slight lift for the straps.

    rock form wrecked the image stabilizer on my iPhone twice. The tech at the Apple store asked if I rode a bike. So it is a common problem with the iPhone. My Samsung has not failed yet with the cam.

    • @vinnymacpr

      iPhone specifically, eh? I’d be interested to hear how the Samsung holds up in comparison in the long term.

    • @ZildjianMan30
      @ZildjianMan30 2 года назад

      @M. Cruz It is (so far) Apple-specific. It's all in the mechanical pieces used in Apple cameras. They're cheaper parts. Samsung uses a better design and higher quality parts on their mechanical shutters and stabilizers. Having learned that, I'm still afraid to put my new S21 Ultra onto my Rokform!

      I have had the same Samsung phone for the past 2 years mounted to several bikes including my bobber and had no issues. I used to be an apple certified repair tech so I can tell you iPhones are crap. I also had a google pixle and never had an issue with mounting it. That phone was never mounted to a bobber, just my ninja 1000. Again, no issue though.
