Love this pod cast so much, but I can't knit during the show as there is so much to look at. The three of you really brighten a day. Barbara
Did you realize that Kim's top appears to be the combination of blue and pink from Betsy and Simone!? You are all so clever. ha This color on Simone makes her skin glow with a lovely color like I have not noticed before. I have been watching since the start from the woods of northern MN. Thank you all. Love the way you mesh in this podcast. Unbelievable compilation of talent.
I look forward to each of your podcasts. Because the three of you have so much fun together, it feels like I’m sitting with a group of wonderful friends. Each of you brings a special talent that enriches all of us. Love your projects and how you support oneanother through them. Kim, if you haven’t yet started knitting the sleeves for your pink sweater, you could knit them both at the same time on the same needle and then they will be exactly the same length. I’ve done this for years and it’s a game-changer. The only tip I have is to pin them with a removable marker or light bulb pin close to the top, about an inch below your live stitches, so that you don’t turn your work until you’ve knit both sleeves…….speaking from experience😅 Take care and thanks for all the fun!

Thanks Ladies.GREAT episode!...YOU WIN!!!! dont think I've ever seen a sunset like that here in Nova Scotia for a very long time. Thanks Ken. 🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
I forgot a note to Simone! Harkening back, Comfrey needs to be planted where it will stay forever. If the root is ever disturbed, it will become a field of Comfrey!! It is excellent in permaculture. Planting one next to an apple tree, it will aerate the soil with its massively long taproot. Also, the leaves can be cut for mulch...a free, living supply. Also, it is astonishing to see you on pink!! It gives you a rosy complection. Beautiful!!!
I've always refrain from spinning because I'm scared of falling in the rabbit hole, but if Betsy is learning, it becomes an incentive, let's see how she likes it. I love the way you help each other, sharing skills, Kim for the sewing, Simone for the spinning and charts, Betsy for the production line ... Wow ! Lovely sunsets, these colors just fill my heart, the music is also quite touching and soothing.
@@nicolelafontaine1720 I live in a 30 foot travel trailer. I know all about small space living! Still I have a Landrum spinning wheel. I like it because it has a wide range of yarns I can make and it folds up into a fairly compact package. And then I knit up the yarn. 🤭 I totally get what you're saying though. Same reason I haven't taken up weaving yet. No place for a loom.😣
A big hello from Hamburg, thanks a lot for this enjoying episode. And yes to the question of spinning. What about when the yarn breaks... Same here 😮 and then the relief.... I remember my first horror-and-relief😊😊😊😊😊
Always so fun to see a new episode and so many ideas and seeing new projects, fibers, and yarny goodness.. YES to Betsy trying spinning as I keep wondering if I really want to make the jump and love learning along with all of you - so much amazing learning! Thank you - July blocks - exquisite.❤
Simone,. You were talking about how to put your quilting pieces together, Kate from The Last Homely House, has a board she uses. In her last video she uses her board to arrange her pieces.
Wow the sunsets were absolutely stunning! That you for the blanket square patterns. Love all the projects and inspiration from each of you, always such a fun woolcast😊

Simone, that sweater looks wonderful on you. That's a very good color for you.
That was so cute and made me laugh out loud when Betsy agreed to try spinning and you said it would go on Insta live and she said her face started heating up! So much fun 🤩 🧶🤩
I’ve been wanting to comment why I love the Fiddlehead mittens. The reason why is because I have short hands and with the patterned mittens, the full pattern is longer than my hand. By adding a nice liner, knit to the length of my hand, this suggestion keeps my fingertips warm and cozy🙌
Those sunsets are fabulous, one of them reminds me of Saturn. Simone, you have been missing out on colour, your sweater is gorgeous and matches you to a “t”. I never knew seals were around PEI, guess because it has been a secret. Another lovely addition to the blanket.
Knit the sleeves first with stripes and then match the body. Will make it easier to line up the striping of the sleeves with the body. If your fruit trees dont flower, give a 2 weekly and of course as a regular chore, dose late winter with Yates "Fruit & Flower". Not the general brand. My pear hadn't flowered for 10 years from the time of planting. After regular dosing, now have an abundance of fruit every year. The sunsets in the southern hemisphere for winter have been amazing. But still not enough rain.
Thanks for another great episode! I always look forward to these podcasts!! Love the new blanket squares, sunset, and you guys are amazing with your You Can Do It projects!
Betsy, you should have seen Hardanger embroidery when you were in Norway. It's a Norwegian heritage embroidery. I have done Hardanger for decades - it's very intricate but a lovely embroidery. The Hardanger region in Norway is supposedly the area that developed this type of embroidery.
I find that heavily dyed Merino is often compacted in areas. After I divide the fiber into strips, I go through and predraft. Merino is often prone to breaking and forming naps. Not my favorite to spin. Beautiful when done but more , shall we say, Challenging. Love you three. Always a pleasure to watch.
I started learning to spin last September and finished my first garment (a Vest) from my hand spun in June this year and I love it. It is a menagerie of gauges, which gives it such personality, I feel so proud of the whole process and end product. I didn't watch the time it took, just loved the whole learning experience. Go for it Betsy.
I’m with Betsy- so enticed by the lure of spinning my own yarn! And you asked the very question I was thinking, Betsy, “ what’s a good blend for a beginner “. Thanks for the info, Simone! Maybe you need a new colorway: PEI Sunset. 🤔
All your comments about spinning have inspired me to think about doing it again. I'm a lot like Betsy, a beginner who gasps each time the fibre breaks. Even though I've done some spinning, I'm always worried about having enough finished yarn to make something other than a scarf! Will I have enough for a cardigan???? If I could figure that out, I'd probably be more adventurous. I have an old, vintage wheel and one of the first EEL e-spinners. Both fun but neither mastered. Thanks for all the giggles. Very healing! HUgs
Nice to see you here Brenda! I hope things are well with you. I have put a few miles on my wheel but I still can't say I have mastered anything. Just doing it for the mediation value really. I am fine with that!
@@FleeceHarmonyPodcast Thanks for the reminder that doing it for the meditation value is enough!. I'm working on a cardigan I've just designed thanks to being in Natalie Warner's class. But since I have lots of yarn, including what Jay brought from you last year, knitters' "startititis" is calling to me. All good signs I'm healing even though I'm constantly exhausted. Always love watching to see all your lovely knitting & crocheting. Betsy your bouquet is looking beautiful, need to make some too. Kim, I'm wondering about something you mentioned on a few podcasts ago regarding being able to download all the months of the blanket, and saves you from having to send individually per month to all the folks wanting the PDF. I'm not sure how you go about doing that? I looked on Ravelry to see if I could just put it in my library and then each month the new patterns would then be added, but there is no option to do that. Thank you ladies for all your talent you share, it is so inspiring. 🤗
My comment for people who are "catching up" or are just joining in. Folks are placing an order for each of the previously released patterns individually. This creates an order in my accounting software that I have to do a couple of functions to complete each order. If they ordered all of the previously released patterns in one order, I would just need to do the completion step once. If you have been following along and getting your patterns each month, of course you had to make individual orders and you are not able to order future releases until they are published.
Immediately thought ‘murder’ of crows might be what you were referencing! Also, I downloaded the blanket pattern squares through July in the same order. Are you saying there is a way to preorder the rest of the squares (prior to release) at this time? I didn’t see an option to order the rest of the blanket squares (August-December). Great ‘wool-cast’ as usual. I enjoy your interactions!
I was referring to folks that are joining in now and are ordering all of the squares that have been launched so far. Many are ordering each month's squares on separate orders: an order for January, a new order for February, etc. There isn't a way to get August - December. The blocks are only revealed one month at a time. You did exactly the right thing!
For the fiber festival, I would love to have a crochet workshop on colorwork, not color theory or granny squares or flowers which are relatively simple to do but doing crochet colorwork patterns and intarsia-like techniques in crochet. I’m a knitter but I’m going to tackle the Nauris Tote Bag by Molla Mills, a Finnish designer - Molla has fantastic modern colorwork crochet, many captured in her book Crochet Crush. Or Betsy, how about your crochet flower designer? That would be great too! I did get into Simone’s drop spindle class so super excited for that! Also, just a thought, I wouldn’t mind virtual instruction in a group doing the same so I could learn from others, especially if there were live helpers in the room. (Maybe with a bit of a price adjustment due to the instructor not being there live?) looking forward to October !
I’m making the Dustland dog sweater - love how the stitch patterns look. Simone - I’m trying to start the Rioux shawl and having trouble getting started - any tips? I’ve tried magic loop and DPNs. All the yarn overs are the problem I think.
Hi Starr! I’m so excited that you’re starting on Rioux! I used dpns to start mine and tiny stitch markers to help keep things separated and in order in my head. I’m a little bit fiddley with the dpns but it was the option that worked best for me. The stitch markers were the game changer. They definitely helped me keep proper count. Best of luck with your project and I hope I get to see it!
@@sandandskycreations6263 I finally managed it after umpteen dozen tries. Magic loop ended up working in the end for me, I got a little farther each time, lol! I posted a picture of my progress so far on Instagram yesterday. Loving it so far!
Contact the Woolery in Lexington Kentucky for parts for old spinning wheels. Also is it less expensive to ship from Toronto to PEI than shipping from the US?
They were made with Roseberry Rambouillet yarn. We won't be making anymore. We have colours left but not the Crocus or Amethyst Brooch. You could make mittens in the rambouillet in other colours. Or make them with Selkirk Worsted in Crocus and Amethyst Brooch.
@@FleeceHarmonyPodcast yep, unless you secure it tightly around it trunk they fly right up under and feast away. Dang birds. But they are a necessity in most cases.
Great podcast ladies. I did want to pass on a tidbit of info I heard about from my spinning group as a few members heard about this from our local guild…. they tried it and it works like a hot you know what. For fibre that has been around for a while and may have compressed some what you can steam it comes back to life and ease of spinning. I looked for a video and found info on it in youtube I will put a paste of it here as I couldn’t seem to find the easy link ruclips.net/video/afH42CtqTn8/видео.htmlsi=RyByddqjn_-5J7RI.
Thanks for the suggestions! See you at the festival!
That’s great! I’m so glad you found a method to help you through the first section. I’m off to check out your photo 😊
I can hardly wait to see it!

Contact the Woolery in Lexington Kentucky for parts for old spinning wheels. Also is it less expensive to ship from Toronto to PEI than shipping from the US?
Thanks!
@@FleeceHarmonyPodcast They also sell wholesale.
Great episode. Which colour in the fiddlehead mitts is being retired? I couldn't catch the name
They were made with Roseberry Rambouillet yarn. We won't be making anymore. We have colours left but not the Crocus or Amethyst Brooch. You could make mittens in the rambouillet in other colours. Or make them with Selkirk Worsted in Crocus and Amethyst Brooch.
Put bird netting over your cherry tree, that's what orchards in my area of nh do.
Yes we discussed that but they ate them while they were still green. We were too late!

That's a great podcast too! So calming and peaceful!
Mattress stitch is really fast once you learn it.
I agree. I love it!
A group of crows is called a murder of crows. I thought you might find that interesting!
LOL - yes that was the joke in the title!

Cover the tree with bird netting.
Yes - we found out that discussing covering it with bird net doesn't help - which we did for three days before they stripped the tree!
I hope this works if not let me know
That's exactly what my fibre looked like. This is a great tip! Thanks!
