The “land cruiser” is not the full size Land Cruiser, weve been getting this in middle east for ages, its called the Land Cruiser Prado here, its not as rugged off road as the 4runner, but its more refined and the build quality is much better as years proven.
Its still wierd to put both on the same market, we did not get the 4 tunner but the LC prado was common here, you had it the other way, both differ from the full size land cruiser which is similarly sized to the lexus, we are getting that here still
Whenever I travel for business in Italy, I use this company called Drivalia in the Milan Airports (Linate and Malpensa), as they have Alfa Romeo Giulias and Stelvios in their fleet, including the Quadrifoglio versions. A joy to drive around in Italy...
If you enjoy cars you may like the Turin car museum, is not far from milan.

46:50 naah Doug, that's definitely not true, especially in Germany 😂😂 a Porsche, especially a Boxter, is nothing special and doesn't turn any heads. You are right that many people are driving city cars, but if you just spent some time here you will see a lot of Porsches and expensive cars. The thing is, Germans in general mostly don't want to show wealth in an in-your-face way, we like more subtle cars. That's why all the sleeper cars are from here 😅

From what i saw on german autobahn people there have a lot of money in cars - i am still amazed how many Aud A1 were passing everything in the left lane, that car is small, expensive and not really that luxurious and yet so many of them passed me. People dont buy flashy cars but they do buy expensive things

As someone who has spent an unreasonable amount of time and research on the C8 generation for the last 5 years, all signs for the ZR1 point to twin turbos on the existing LT6 (C8 Z06 engine) architecture (possibly flat plane, or possibly cross plane for reliability). The electric front motors are not likely for this generation, but there has been speculation for years about a Zora model (named after Zora Arkus-Duntov, the father of the corvette and the mid-engined corvette), which would have the E-Ray motors in the front for AWD with the ZR1 motor for ~1000 horsepower combined.
Speculation for the power figures are 800-900, my guess is ~850. 0-60 is gonna be quick, but grip at low speeds is probably going to be an issue, especially on the street, so 0-60 won't be much faster than the E-Ray. Nürburgring spy shots say the wing is going to be massive, and it should have a large vent on the front for downforce a-la C8 Z06 GT3.R racecar. Seeing as the C7 ZR1 and C8 Z06 are both probably sub-7 minute capable, I'm sure we won't receive any posted Nürburgring lap times as per usual, but it will be quick.
If this car can’t dip into the 6’s on the ring it’s a failure.
@@crodlu98 I’d be shocked if the C8 Z06 isn’t in the 6’s seeing how it beats the 992 GT3 around most tracks. The ZR1’s huge wing alone should double downforce, and the extra power and torque will make up the difference in drag.

I think these were not sold in the US, but the first and second gen Subaru Impreza wagons are always cheaper than the sedans. Thats the only example i could think of.

-Doug, on driving the Land Cruiser; and coincidentally also my internal monologue everyday at work, as I watch my coworkers do their jobs in the dumbest way possible. 😅
In some markets like the Dominican Republic, the main difference is that Land Cruiser Prado, the name for the LC250, is offered with a diesel engine, and the 4Runner not, and both do come with the third row.

I did a track day in my Stinger GT1 (exactly like Doug's old one) and I was in a group with two C7 ZR-1s. I passed them every session. Not because my Stinger is just so amazing!! (it is, but not that amazing) but because that's how intimidating the ZR-1 was on a road course with walls all around. It's just not a car for civilians. I struggle to imagine the C8 version being even less so.
totally agree on LC vs 4runner. at least the GX has the V6 TT to differentiate it. The LC is a really hard sell unless you just like the heritage. the 1958 stripped out model is interesting

Almost agree. Think they said earlier ZR-1 will be supercharged and Zora will be supercharged and with electric assist from e-ray.
The Zora will be the ZR1 with the ERay hybrid system.

i believe the issue with the cybertruck exterior is that the stainless steel is a different type than the standard 304 or 316 stainless steel that is use on most things built out of stanless steel. it's different chemical composition and has issues with corrosion

I'm with Filippo on this, I've seen one C8 in my life(excluding dealer floors, then I've seen two). Where I'm at, if you get a 100k vehicle, it's a truck or an Audi.

I agree about 911 restomods. They're crazy expensive for what they are. The Gunther Werks Tornado, however, is just insanely good looking and pretty scary thing.

The discussion about the decline in sale over sticker for Cybertruck is because they came into market too late although their desire is still there, a lot of folks have spent money elsewhere or people are just tired of over spending.

I do think that the Cybertruck will fall off if Tesla resorts to only making minor revisions and testing on their laurels.
But if they keep rapidly innovating and staying ahead of the competition in functionality and user satisfaction, the CT can become the iPhone of pickup trucks.
Doug is right about perforated materials, especially on the steering wheel. Perforate all the things! A white M-Tech II steering wheel in perforated leatherette would be perf
The Land Cruiser does make some sense I would say. It’s comes automatically with all the fanciest features that you could get on the 4Runner but they come standard and the Land Cruiser is slightly bigger in the back with a higher tow rating. They all have full time 4x4, they all have heated seats and center lockers and rear lockers. If you loaded out a 4Runner with all that it would probably be the same price as the starting Land cruiser. It is odd, but if you like the look of it then you would get one. Not to mention the interior may be blander but its simplicity is actually kind of nice. The 4Runner is cool inside, but it’s also so many angles and the door pockets look cut out of a 3d printer. It looks like the fake hood scoop version of an interior , cool, but also a bit 21 year old. The land cruisers more relaxed interior is very Toyota in its simplicity is bliss kind of a way. Ide still have a 4Runner of course 😂

The Delorean has thin steel sheets on top of the body, with an epoxy coat on. The Cybertruck's body is made exclusively of thick steel panels and no coating or protection of any kind. There are already some Cybertrucks that have started to look rough.
Can't wait to see the new Mercedes-Benz G580 Brabus 4x4² Landaulet with EQ Technology driving around town.
You see deloreans around that look good because the delorean stainless steel has a coating over it while the Tesla one does not have that of course. There are also pictures of the cybertrucks rusting already

38:00 For the record Doug, you drove the $2.5M DLS which is the "everything" model. Buyers do get much more mundane 375-400hp models with way less "light-weighting" more typical suspension for $400-650k. Singer completely remade the front and rear suspension on that car. They didn't just remake the body panels out of carbon, but also did comprehensive CFD and wind tunnel time.
The $2.5m number is kind of like the B-2 bomber. When you add all the dev cost into a very small fleet of 32 airplanes, each one was $2b dollars. If USAF had bought 250 like they had planed, the unit cost would have been a lot cheaper. So blame Singer for suppressing the number of DLS models they sell, because that's why the price is as inflated as it is.
To be intellectually honest, I have the same beef with old Mugen Honda Civics from the 1990s and 2000s. "wind tunnel tested mirror covers": $6500. Mugen "tested" them in the wind tunnel, are they better? Dunno. They won't tell you. But they're $6500. And $2400 headrests. And a $17K engine blueprint and balance that yields 1 horsepower. One. ONE! $17k. Are the parts in your engine balanced within a 100th of a gram. Yep. Did it make any power? Yes. It made one.
Def agree about the 4runner! I am curious to see if they will come out with a LWB version, especially for markets in the Middle East. When I lived there LWB land cruisers and Nissan patrols were super popular for rich people, dunno why they would want a relatively mid-sized SUV

I believe Cybertruck rust concern had to do with the type of the material, "stainless steel" has multiple types and some are more rust prone than what's used in DeLorean or something
If you want to car spot in Germany you must go to Munich. I remember seeing m2s and air cooled 911s street parked.
It is interesting to hear how much cheaper rental is in usa, guess building cities around car infrastructure goes long way in this type of rentals, in europe people would crash them too often to make that profitable

I think the Cybertruck’s biggest issue in the market is that an electric truck just isn’t a new concept anymore. I live in a smaller city and I know two people with an R1T, and see a different Ford Lightning nearly every day. Just yesterday I noticed my local utility company bought a fleet of white lightnings for maintenance trucks.
It's difficult for me to get excited about the ZR1 when I know the Zora is coming. I feel like C8 ZR1 will be the forgotten model of this generation. Also, I'm really interested in a hybrid 4Runner.
With the Zora likely existing in a different price bracket, and not coming along for another couple years, there's plenty of time to be excited about the ZR1. It's possible the ZR1 will be the last or most powerful corvette without electrification, so I doubt it will be forgotten.
Enjoy watching these but I wish the TV projection was shown full screen (like replacing the video feed) much more often when you guys are looking at it and talking about it. Like at 20:46 … Just flip back and forth a few times 😊
Also in some other episodes sometimes one of the guys will mention a specific car and it would be nice if a picture of it could be edited into the video if it starts being discussed or made fun of or whatever haha

Shame Sixt has dropped off, I rented an E63 in Munich in 2019 to drive on the Autobahn. One of the best car experiences I've ever had. They did make me sign an agreement specifically promising NOT to take it on the Nurburgring.
On the German site the new electric G-Wagon is actually called "Concept EQG".

I think a main reason the cybertruck isn’t selling as well is that the hummer was cooler to look at and drive and use in real life vs the cybertruck which looks very much like nothing else and is extremely under optioned for the money

I’m confident I know that H2 owner - parent of a family friend. I haven’t talked to them much since they moved to socal but they’ve driven it since they bought it new and have kept it alive because how ridiculous it is. Advertising/marketing executive and a bit of a Porsche fanatic too, my love of Porsches came from seeing their collection when I was younger.
I really like the question about what modification would piss the most people off at a meet. My answer would be any driver focused, purist car that is beloved by the car community that has been EV swapped. Something like an EV swapped F40. Could you imagine how people would react
