Looks good mate. Just a tip how we do it. When applying the mortar, fill back towards the wet product not away from it. That way your sure to avoid air pockets. Just started watching you and you are a very engaging young lad. 😉

Hi guys i worked in Germany many many years back and you wouldnt believe some of the builing practices they concider fine, but anyway the mortar we used to build facework was (honestly ) a 10:1 ratio of 10 sand 1 cement!!! First day there we thougth we just got translation wrong ,but no we never ! But (and this is a big but) we were given a flat steel bar around 8 inch long with the end cut to the width of brickwork bed jiont and an inch and half long. The end of every day the facework was raked out to the intch and half depth from this bar and at end of job they had specialist gangs (who for some reason were usually Turkish guys) who would come around and repiont in a totally differant mortar that was much stronger and they made a fantastic job of it. Also the fastest i have ever seen anyone repiont facework

    Hydrated lime type S
    1 part lime
And 3 part building sand ?
Can you give me a brand on the building sand , I can’t find something that says building sand in a bad, is it a specific color etc? Did you add color on the lime mixed mortar,?

      @@IzzytheBricky you’re very welcome mate.
It means you don’t need the duct tape etc.
That makita shroud is really heavy.
I have a 125mm makita which is really small and the shroud is actually heavier.
      They are decent though.
Quick tip. Try a company called GOLZ Uk and ask for the MR-8 mortar raker blade
It will chase 25m2 and is about £20

@@Southpoint2019 Brick, block and stone. You can control the fill and it is cleaner on the face brick. JUst cut the end of the grout bag to suit joint size. Tuck pointing works but slower and more clean up on face.
