    Personally I always liked the theory that the gengar line represented the stages of entering our dimension. It’s starts with gastly who can barely manifest itself to haunter who has hands but not their full body until gengar when it’s invited into another dimension (kind of similar to a vampire) and able to manifest fully. I feel like your new evolution still fits this even if it was unintentional. It’s like a haunter tried to force itself into our dimension and got torn up in the process. I love it

    I can imagine there being a dex entry for Goregooz being something to the effect of 'This pokemon was believed to have existed in the far past thanks to old stories, but with the advent of trading those stories faded from time. After the loss of trading these pokemon began reappearing in hordes turning fellow Pumpkaboo into this pokemon'.
    Plus it's a sort of reference to the whole ancient zombie virus from long ago reappearing in modern times trope.

    • @ASCENSiON_
      @ASCENSiON_ 2 года назад +18

      Exactly my thoughts. Even then, I can still imagine a few wild present day specimens ended up mutating into Goregooz by managing to completely avoid human interaction their whole lives. I can also imagine the species was kept on government watch in case a Goregooz did spawn, so it could be immediately killed without infecting other Pumpkaboo in the wild, which could explain why they were never seen in present day Kalos, and kept a secret from the public.

    Just some thoughts:
    - Ajjimajji does a great job of blending together elements of Kadabra and Mega Alakazam to create something which is obviously similar and yet obviously different
    - I'm a sucker for Pokemon whose bodies have weapons built in (Magmortar, Scyther, and Scizor are all among my favorite Pokemon), so Bombeedel is right up my alley. It also does a great job of capturing the design philosophy of a lot of gen 4 and 5 Pokemon - lots of round shapes and exaggerated proportions highlighting important elements.
    - Canopriest highlights one of my favorite types of Pokemon, Pokemon who take inspiration from interesting real-world biology and turn it into a magical creature
    - Boombrocks looks so alien, and feels like a very natural progression from Boldore, while still being very distinct
    - I really hate Conkeldurr, but I think Dismandurr would be one of my favorite Unova Pokemon if it were real. I love how it leans into the goofy elements of the design in a self-aware way.
    - Gourgooz is my favorite by far, since I love pumpkins, I love grass-types, and I love zombies, and this just does an incredible job of blending all of those concepts together.

    Really like all these new designs, especially the Kalos ones. Only criticism i would have is that
    1) Except Dangal, none of them have new typing, if feels a bit like a missed opportunity (Boombrocks could have been rock/normal)
    2) The gut on Machug doesn't feel like it connects to it's body, and if we see it as an atlas weight, that makes two fighting type pokemons that carry big spheres in the same region

    I heard somewhere - and I can't remember where - that trade-induced evolutions were basically the opposite of happiness evolution in term of lore, and I always thought this idea was neat. The reason a Pokemon evolves when traded is because it reacts to being suddenly in a new environment far away from its trainer. It's a loss of bearings/reference points and these specific species of Pokemon react to it by evolving into a stronger form as a mechanism of defense. It's similar to how, in the anime, many Pokemon evolve while "in need", when they're losing a battle or under stress.
    On the opposite side, Happiness-induced evolutions happen because the Pokemon is comfortable enough with its trainer. They evolve when in an environment in which they thrive, when they have access to everything they want - food, exercice, love - and for the anime comparaison, some evolve for the needs of their trainer or to become a better protector to them.
    It doesn't make sense to me that these Pokemon could only evolve because of a trading machine, because, otherwise these third stages wouldn't exist at all in the wild? So I think just the act of trading is giving these Pokemon a shock pushing them to transform, and that in the wild, they would evolve similarly when under stress, "to adapt". At least that's my understanding, let me know what you think of it!

    Bit late here, but when I first saw Bombeedel, it reminded me of something else that has a close relation. The Nordic History nerd I am, it immediately made me think of the Swedish Carolean Uniform, and that made me think deeper and brought up the idea of Gustavus Adolphus' army modernizations, as he was one of the first nations to merge mobility and firepower, using cannons that were maneuverable, which was very effective compared to the Catholic Cannons of the 30 Years War, which were much larger and heavier. If this were a real pokemon it's definitely one that would be very interesting to delve into, as I'm sure other comparisons could be made with several other armies throughout history, as opposed to just the French as you created it with the ideas of, and the Swedes, which my mind wandered to.

    Infanticide would make for an interesting counter to Eviolite users. Maybe at it's base, the damage boost should "only" be 25% as non fully evolved pokemon tend to have much lower stats in the first place, so you don't really need all that much extra damage to knock them out anyways. Then if the opponent is holding an eviolite the boost increases to 50% to essentially "nullify" the effect of the eviolite (idk if the math actually works out like that but i think you get the point).

    Also seeing as it's a flipped around Trevenant, you could also turn it's personality, so instead of caring about and letting other pokemon live in it's body it hates and attacks any that try to as to avoid tainting their body made in the image of it's "god".

Perhaps when using a metal coat it know is a darker green and keeps the scythes but coated in metal. Maybe they still need the trade energy to involve into those exact forms. Maybe some other pokemon need entire new items to evolve, since onix doesn't change much you could give it a water stone for example.

Perhaps make an entirely new Pokemon whose gimmick revolves around Terrain Pulse & Nature Power, with the Signature Ability "Climate Chaos," where a different random weather effect or terrain pops up every other turn & after the 4th change starts doing one weather AND one terrain at the same time. Perhaps it should also effect the Pokemon like Moody, where different weather conditions & different terrains cause it to have different stat distributions & different types. I definitely think these alternate evolutions look interesting. Also the more reptilian look of Machop and Machoke makes me think they’d fit in the Dragon egg-group.
    Unrelated but even though Ghetsis was using N the whole time and would’ve disposed of him. I feel that the supposed goal to separate humans and Pokemon would’ve caused a Pokemon revolution since Pokemon like to battle so I doubt they'd appreciate being separated from their owners.
    It’s ironic since many Pokemon revolution fanfics have the Pokemon turn on humanity due to mistreatment.

    I always imagine trade pokemon should evolve through 'happiness' instead, like baby pokemon do. With the franchise's themes of friendship and teamwork and such, it just makes more sense to be for them to evolve out of being close to their trainer instead of being traded away. The Link bond from Conquest could also work, or Amie hearts.

    • @scary-sounds
      @scary-sounds 2 года назад +5

      Maybe for trade pokemon not needing an item you have a specific item that references trading given to them. So when they reach a certain friendship level with the item they evolve. Item specific trade evolutions could need a pokemon to hold this new item near them in your party while they hold there own. And pokemon who need eachother to evolve like shelmet and karablast could both need to be together before you can evolve them.

    I feel like Machug would have a signature move that's reminiscent of King K Rool's move in Smash, where he uses his belly to block and repel attacks. Call it "Body Block" or something, where Machug tenses its abdominal muscles and sticks out its gut to block attacks. Maybe it reduces all direct damage Machug takes that turn by 25% or something, and causes contact moves to deal recoil damage to the user as they hit Machug's insanely hard muscles.

    I think I'll need to see Boombrocks from another angle to get a better grasp on it, but otherwise VERY COOL concept to introduce this fan region.
    AND on a small idea, if this region's theme is how pokemon literally evolve, like you know normal animals, I would recommend messing with some legendaries. Like having a steel sky-form Shaymin created when a Shaymin sniffs an artificial/digital flower, a new trio of legendary dogs based of the Johto starters (instead of the original eeveelutions) OR a new set of Steel-type Unknown that are based off of coding/notepad symbols.

    The only problems I could see are Dangal's fleshy looking parts and ability's name ("Elder's Jealousy" would likely slide as an ability name) (If the dangling bits weren't pink, and just the same color as the body, I'm pretty sure gamefreak would be fine with the design).
