Gotta give it to you man, I have literally watched thousands of hours of comic book material on RUclips. This is one of the best videos discussing the history of a single character I have ever seen. This is an achievement, congratulations
I hate one more day it’s such a horrible story that has ruined everything with Peter Parker and Mary Jane and the worst part is we are still trapped in this horrible status quo that nobody likes myself included and frankly it makes me miss Peter Parker and Mary Jane being married and was supposed to have there daughter mayday Parker spider girl who should actually exist in the mainstream marvel universe at this point at least in my opinion.
Honestly, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad if it just had much less stupid decisions made during it. Like peter shouldn't have just continued life like normal (iirc), we should've gotten issues of him confronting what he did to himself
@@HighOnIce I agree and honestly that's not bad idea and I would've been all for that but unfortnately knowing marvel and there terrible track record and there stupidity I highly doubt marvel would've pulled that story off with Peter Parker and Mary jane given they are same jerks who hate Peter parker and mary jane from being married for some stupid reason at least in my opinion.
OMD is badly executed and a horrible idea. I can understand the reasoning behind it, I can even support divorcing them to shake things up and make different stories. But I think after some time has passed they should have brought them together again (in 2016 or in vol.5). Amazing video (as always)!
@@ChristopherLono agreed and honestly nothing would make me happier but to see Spider-Man Peter parker and Mary jane finally get back their marriage and memories so this could open the door for my favorite character there daughter mayday parker spider-girl finally existing in the mainstream marvel universe because damn it all three of them deserve to be happy and exist side by side as a family at least in my opinion.
Joe Quesada did a lot of good at Marvel, but his mistreatment of Spider-Man is the one thing I'll never forgive him for. He took away years of character development and one of the most special relationships Peter had in his life. It's close to what DC editorial did with Jon Kent by aging him up and undoing all the work done by Peter J. Tomasi.
The deep dive you've taken to deliver us this video is incredible. You've clearly put TONS of time into this video for research and to give it the love this character deserves! THANK YOU!
The new Hickman Ultimate spider man is really really good…I think it’s the perfect way to get back into a character that I haven’t really read in a long time
I know Nick Spencer's recent run on Spider-man was a mixed bag. But I am grateful that he was at least able to undo the damage caused by Sins Past. How do you feel about Spencer's run, especially the final arc? As I understand it, Spencer originally wanted to undo One More Day and restore the marriage but had to settle for undoing Sins Past instead.
Despite already seeing all of these videos, I'll watch this compilation due to how well put together they are, your videos are absolutely amazing owen. i wonder if you can make a video on the live action 70s marvel shows (hulk, spider-man and doctor strange) i think that would be an interesting topic to discuss.
After Nightcrawler and Wally West, Spider man is one my favorite super heroes, with his stories being the perfect exemple of how to create good story that balances super hero action with relatable human drama.. Besides the Last Hunt, My favorite Spidey stories are 5) Spider Man & Human Torch 4) Best of enemies 3) Spider Man Blue 2) The boy who collect Spider man 1) If this be my destiny...
The boy who collects spider man is my favourite spidey story of all time. Very emotional and really shows Peter's true character. I cant recommend it enough.
In a world full of alien technology, magic, gods, mutants, and all manner of beings, it's ridiculous that Aunt May couldn't be cured of a bullet wound. Overall, I think Spider-Man is a lost cause because editorial refuses to let him grow beyond the loveable loser down to his last three dollars he's been since the 1960s.
Wait hang on hang on. So you're telling me... that they made a superhero... with the powers... of a spider? Sheesh I guess they really are running out of ideas.
The best 2 hours about Spider-Man's milestone, good one Owen 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Minute 16:42 What's ironic regarding the statement for the arc.of Kraven's Last Hunt, is that they re-took the DK concept from Batman and introduced it into Spider-Man Noir in the end. Regarding to One More Day and Brand New Day, it was all Joe Quesada's fault because that is why we don't get a huge improvement on Peter And Spider-Man characters which almost happenned after civil war event when Peter almost loses Aunt May, which was perfect for Peter's maturity and leaving intact his marriage, and then again after Superior Spiderman and the first issues on All New All Different Spider-Man when Pete after gaining back his body, he had his company and Master Degree intact (thanks Doc Ock *wink, wink*). It really is a shame that “one more day” happened because I do wonder where the Spider-Man comics would be today and what peters growth would be like if they had kept the original continuity going but not for nothing “life story” pretty much is what the spidey comics should’ve ended up being. We got to see Peter age all while they incorporated his stories from the past to give him a real end
15 years later and I still consider One More Day that worst story ever told, and which should have NEVER happened, there was no need for it. and now after the great run of Nick Spencer, even if it did have it's faults, where through the vast amount of hint that it was VERY clear that Spencer was going to tackle OMD before editorial interfered and messed things up again, we now have to contend with Zeb Wells's book where the first thing he does is break up Peter and Mary Jane and give Mary Jane kids and a ugh new boyfriend with no explanation, which I still hate with a passion, it ruined Spider-Man for me, because everytime I try to read it, I've got what happened in issue #1 at the back of my head ruining any enjoyment I might have gotten out of it. and while we "are" going to start learning what happened, starting with ASM #21, it's been a year since it started, which just added to my displeasure of Wells's run, and what further added to my displeasure is the fact that the mystery box of Iron Man and Fantastic Four were revealed their first 4 issues. So yeah, I have no love for Wells's run, and faster he's taken of it, the better. and the same goes for Nick Lowe.
Stories like this is what makes "Comics Deaths " so 😂 COMICAL 😅!! Other than Capt. Jean DeWolf & Capt Mar Vell the concept of Death is value treasure or reminisced. EVERY CHARACTER in Both DC & MARVEL Died at Some point only to Come Back in.a year or so. The Joker & Kraven " Play Play" kills" The Fellas who beats AT EVERY SINGLE TURN , FINALLY they "defeat "them ....See told U I could beat!! Nah ,Nahh , Nahjy

Marvel vs DC As if that wasn't enough... the early 200s saw this release of the Ang Lee Hulk .. Spider Man & X Men movies...& then a couple years after that..an Iron Man movie & the launch of the MCU!..& this past summer.. Deadpool vs Wolverine! Hopefully i will CONTINUE to be SPOILED from now on!
I thought Sins Past was really well-written in how it packs an emotional punch, but it’s not worth it to ruin Gwen’s character like that. I think it would have gone over much better as an elseworld story or a “What If?” Just have it be non-canon
Even if sins past had gabe and sarah actually be Peter's kids it would've sucked because it's still a story that doesn't respect Gwen's status and place in Peter's history and just serves to dig up and taint her legacy for the sake of cheap drama that in the grand scheme of comics will never truly matter because of the horrid reception fans had towards it. The changes brought upon by marvel leadership's stupid reasonings only served to make a risky idea all that much worse. Quesada enforced his flawed vision on the character, but Straczynski had no reverence seemingly for anything already established for the character. It was the worst two people who could've collaborated and the fact it felt so forced and resulted in some truly infamous stories for fans says a lot about this pairing and this brief destructive period in Spider-Man's history.
