This song was co-written with "Incubus" Mike Einziger. The costumes were produced by SAIKI according to the image of the song. Their versatility and responsiveness are on display, but it also reaffirms the uniqueness of their own music. They can do anything.
Zack if this video looks and sounds like heaven, man, do we need to clean up our acts. Just kidding. My reaction is it's beautiful and angelic. All the Maids look like a modern version of angels, except Kanami whose frills look like the wings of an angel. She also takes us soaring to the heavens with her riff.
Pretty sure this is the first time for a MV where they were not in their maid outfits (except for Band-Maikio). They did an all acoustic concert about 3 weeks ago where they worn something similar (I've only seen a couple of images of that show so not sure if was the same as this one). This is also all English (they have two others - "Dragon Cries" and "Don't let me down").
The fact that they drop this video just a handful of days before I head to Tokyo for the Day of Maid show just makes me that much more excited to cross an item off my 🪣 list. As much as I love Misa in all black, oooooh that white jumpsuit tho ❤❤❤❤
Nice reaction! This song actually has an old school BAND-MAID vibe (a lot of the songs on the last few releases were good, but I feel they were more experimental and trying to depart from their roots)... If they can capture the magic in song writing of the early years and keep putting out songs like this... Another ten years will be their international break-through!
The outfits will just be for the video.. There's a few times before theyve had special outfits for an MV - or like the outfits they wore for the accoustic online performance - it wont be their new battle armor lol.
I think a lot of the coming album may step outside of their comfort zone as well as ours. It's been billed as being full of collaborations with other artists, with this being only the beginning. Hey, they're making fans and friends out of other bands around the world. Why not play around with it as a musical project? The Incubus factor in this is very clear to me, so no, it isnt gonna sound like 100% Band Maid because its more like 50-60%. Of note, they do have a number of mid tempo songs in their catalog.
This is true with many bands, but with Band-Maid in particular, I've learned never to "judge" a song too much on the first listen. I almost always wind up feeling very different about it after 10 to 20 listens - mostly I like it more and more. Would I want all of their songs to be like this? No - but I like this song a lot more now than i did at first. I really like it in fact. They'll keep their hard rocking music so no need to worry this is their "new direction" - I only say that because some have expressed that concern, and I just don't think it's a problem at all.
*Kanami plays one of her longest solos* "even though it was shorter than her normal solos" 🤣🤣🤣 Still enjoyed the reaction, just found that bit a little funny. Kanami only really has a handful of longer solos, like Real Existence. This was a more restrained feeling one for sure, though.
A lot of the b-sides on Conqueror are similarly lighter sounding. There is also Start Over (has a music video) which is pop all the way through. It's not my favorite either. That set is really pretty though and Saiki's hair actually looks really nice in the video with that white outfit.
The song is still not for me, but the video is beautiful and well done. I get the maid outfits and the idea behind them. But I thought it was cool seeing the members not in their maid costumes (something I hope they do more of).
Saiki's English is getting better. But bringing that up in a critic of song is such an American thing. The expectation that they should you know your language as well as you is xenophobic. If you love the band so much learn Japanese.
Saiki: "The off-white color worn by the members signifies the expectation for the future progress. I hope everyone can imagine how it will be colored and enjoy it together." Also Saiki, "When I listen to "Bestie", I get the image of traveling in the wilderness. I wanted to feel the same scenery and immerse myself in the world of the song with them, which is also expressed in the music video." @saiki_bandmaid 🦍🍌 Btw, It's Angel's wing, yes, that's it, Po!

Fairy Kanami's guitar solo brings me to tears😭💕
Same here.
Band Maid turn into Band Angels!

I"m sure after ten years of wearing those black outfits they were ready for a change...they look beautiful!
Minchu solos Zack smiles as wide as possible, this made my day maidiac, po!
😄👍🍻
Nothing but total respect for these amazing Rock Goddesses who uncompromisingly charter their own course, what a band Po 👍🍻

@@glenkelley6799 You're right. 5 string Bass.

Thanks for taking the time to watch the MV after already reacting to the audio release. Well done.
This song is a grower. I was not found of it in the first listening; but now it is stuck in my head.
Kanami’s solo 😍🥲🤘🔥❤️

Bestie reminds me a lot of their song Page.
Maybe just moi, but this video seems to be mixed better than the first 😳
♥ the new outfits!

Hoping Lovebites responding to the outfit theft by wearing maid outfits in their next video.
I've been telling u to get some WD-40 for like 6 months! 😆
This song has a similar arrangement to Daydreaming.
