I love MISA's playing. Her bass tone is setting a new standard... and Akane's drumming is so distinguishable... and Kanami's solo... ahhhh! The recording and mix is good, too! Miku's lyrics are heartfelt. "I can't look into your eyes." Is Saiki her bestie? But Saiki masterfully delivers her lyrics, as always. BTW - The volume of lyrics and nuanced melodies she's committed to memory over the years is simply mind-blowing!
Mikey did good at giving them his direction for the song, and probably helped with the English lyrics -- a good growth for Miku's craft. I don't understand why Kanami said she couldn't have come up with the main riff. Probably just her being super polite, as usual.
I like the groove and feel of the song. I was waiting for, "I don't give a f**k" at the end. But maybe with these particular "Bestie" lyrics, that wouldn't be such a good idea. Even though at first listen it felt on par with Start Over, it will undoubtedly do what every Band-Maid song does -- grow on you! Got to break through to the mainstream market with a few cuts, right? Hopefully Bestie helps with that! Thanks, Band-Maid! And thx, John!

Miku wrote the lyrics, but the music was a collaboration with Mike Einsiger of Incubus. That fuzzy guitar tone at the beginning and at the end of the song...pure Incubus.

This song makes me think of good friends, my wife and our life together, and how important the people I love are to me. Bandmaid has a way of just reaching ones heart at times, not everyone understands and I am sorry that they dont get that cause its a wonderful thing.

I’m hoping this simple, accessible, radio friendly song with 100% English lyrics might get BAND-MAID the exposure they deserve. I mean, have you observed the success ATARASHII GAKKO have achieved in the U.S.? In addition to earlier festival performances, TV appearances, and Money Mark collaborations, they headlined at Cochella last weekend on Friday, and will headline again this weekend on Sunday. The complete Friday set was available on RUclips for a few days before being taken down, but you can still see shorter clips. It was thoroughly impressive, and amazingly nearly 100% Japanese. They cleverly included a song that includes the names of each member and includes a call and response that gets the audience chanting the group’s name. The kids ate it up. Plan to catch the Cochella livestream tomorrow.

The vocals are wonderful in this song. If you have access to AI track splitting software, do yourself a favour and listen to the isolated vocals.

It’s a shame the video description doesn’t biggie up the Incubus connection but if you click into it you’ll see the song was co-written with that band’s guitarist, Mike Einziger. Still, like you said, the maids make it their own.
