My mother tongue is German, but I would like to learn many languages, that's why i try to learn new languages all the time. I am currently learning English and Spanish. At school I try to get my English on the buisness level. I would like to teach myself Korean. Next year I will attend a course to learn Chinese. I really have to admit, when I first saw you on the internet, I thought how incredible you are, because you speak so many languages and you've become a real role model (Idol) for me. I hope I can speak so many languages in the future like you. Thank you, for your helpful tips. (> -

Learning another Tonal Asian language isn't that hard for most who already speak one tonal language, such as Thai and Chinese. Not all but a lot of Thai words are borrowed from the Chinese language, even though these words mainly mean something different, the speaking part is easier to learn. In that case youre obviously already skilled in speaking out specific tones , so it does apply to the fact that this makes it easier. Unlike someone who grew up with a totally different language with no tones and no similarity to a tonal Asian language at all. Btw in south china ,there is still a Chinese dialect that is VERY similar to thai and several thai & Cantonese words mean the exact same and have the same tone too. Im thai & south Chinese mixed ,and read + study ingeneral a lot about china & Thailand ,especially about similarities and differences etc. which is why I know, probably also bcs im very much involved with it too as being thai&chinese visiting both Thailand and southern china almost every year.

Wait I’m confused. Did you learn all of that in one month or you started learning the basics in one month. You said you went to SNU to study Korean but then said you never picked up a Korean book to study. I’m impressed by your language skills but this isn’t really clear

I'm the exception you were looking for 🤓 I agree totally with you, and I am learning the language due to historical and cultural stuff. I don't know if you study Korean, but finally I found someone that got the point

Sie ist halb Thai halb chinesin und lebt in der schweiz. Also wohl eine oder auch 2 dieser 3 sprachen ( Thai , chinesisch , schweizer-deutsch ). Als mischling , eventuell im ausland aufgewachsen, waechst man oft nicht nur mit einer sprache auf.

Well German , Austrian and Swiss is basically the same but just a different Dialect. In germany you call it Schweizer-deutsch. Such as also chinese and cantonese is just a different dialect, wouldn't call it a different language. I speak only 5 languages: Thai , Cantonese & taecheow dialect , taecheow is a southern Chinese dialect , English , German and Swedish. I don't count it as 6 ,since different dialects exists in literally every country and Cantonese + taecheow is still both a Chinese language,so.

hi sorry for being annoying but... As a language learner, sometimes we need support from people. And many times its hard to find this support in our family or friends. So I created a discord server for all language learners: discord.gg/8MN8Xz5uXA
I hope you will find it useful and we can all help each other ❤️ Thanks if anyone is joining :DD
