Apple focused on the phone experience for the past nearly 17 years and finished perfecting that (incredible optimisations, etc) and now are doing side quests until something better than phones come along
Android is going the same but in the opposite direction so it’s really a matter of which you want first cause eventually they just gonna be the same thing

"Vehicle motion" is the best feature of iOS 18 hands down. Took a 4-hour buss ride the other day, watched through the first LotR movie and didn't feel sick once.

@JuicemaneeBut here's the issue with Apple devices as a whole.. I work at a phone store and the most issues I have out of any phone, whether it be literally a $30 phone that's our cheapest phone, or a Samsung s series. You run into many issues using them as a user especially if you're switching from Android because Apple is so locked down with their security that they don't allow you to use specific apps, features, and other sorts of things of that nature that are allowed on Android. Then there is the whole issue with when they do new things like this.. You may think that oh well the design/layout look cleaner or more interesting when they implement something like this but then you run into the issue that they limit certain things that you can do with specific features like this to where it's going to be a non-ergonomic easier experience.
Does that make you feel better as a person?

As an android user, I am blown away by these completely new features that android 100% hasn't been doing for the last few years.
iOS 18 is also extremely finicky but it also feels polished but on the surface level all the animations look amazing but interacting with certain things can be troublesome and you have to relearn the entire thing

btw ALL of the ai features, like the genmoji, better siri, summaries etc. are ONLY for iphone 15 pro and pro max (at least when it comes to iphones), and likely anything released after, so for the majority of people with iphones, it's not useful. at all.

@@xanthrax6179 it doesn't matter how many users do it because I do. I'm usually the one to modify all my game files in order to get 120 FPS or unlock certain graphics options or such.
I genuinely do not care if other people don't choose to do this. It's really just their loss. If you want to keep using the iPhone then go ahead. The new update is probably pretty nice if you actually have one, but for me if I want a new update I can just do it myself

I haven’t been excited by iOS updates for years. It feels like they’re just releasing features that people have been wanting for so long and they should’ve already released years ago. It just feels like they’re doing barely enough to not lose customers.
For all those android people:
Apple releases the features one by one while android flushes all of them at once. At the end, it’s still the same

One of my favourite features bc I downloaded the beta is the eye tracking it’s very fun (not practical) just pretty cool even though it’s basically just a party trick
And of course they're going to act like they invented all that shit when android has had EVERY SINGLE FEATURE mentioned in the video for YEARS

I am a Samsung S24 Ultra user and the more i research these kinds of videos the more i wonder if i should switch with the iPhone 16 Pro Max when it launches. Just the little things make me want to switch as my girlfriend got an iPhone 14 Plus and when she loaded her backup it kept her accounts logged in, as for android i would have to relog into everything and no accounts carry over except for my google account. Stuff like that i like. Apple is winning me over compared to 2010 when i hated them with a passion.

Customization isnt everywhere, oppose to dumb captions made word by word in middle of screen.
I won’t be able to customise emojis because I have the regular 15 😭 thanks alot Apple for doing that

Custom emojis are also in gboard but you can only send them in an image format
They also now have eye tracking accessibility.
they also changed the gallery layout in photos, you can erase objects u dont want in a photo, there’s satellite texting, now in facetime you can control the other persons iphone, you can now see if a android user read your text and all that just like a iphone

You get pretty much more custom features the majority of androids had for years. Since you’re so engrossed in apple’s ecosystem, you’ll probably enjoy the feature and its fancy name.
Ecosystem* also yeah the ecosystem is why apple is so good. It’s by far the most compatible ecosystem out of any smartphone makers. Apple Watches connect to iPhones which connect to IMacs which could connect to Apple TVs, etc
I also like the scheduled message function. Saves me a lot of headache
