I honestly think DICE was the perfect example of how mixxpop should be it wasn’t to drastic and to long on top of that it was Catchy so it was imo perfectly executed
Exactly like that song got me on board and I was genuinely looking forward to the next tt. Then we got Roller Coaster and Party O'Clock and I was confused
Tbh while I wasn't a huge fan of dice (I loved o.o though) I still much rather see them release songs similar to dice then what they're doing now. Ofc, their new songs are good and all, but they don't really have a distinct identity anymore to set them apart from other new ggs, which made me lose a bit of my interest in them
YAASSS because i really hate O.O and think the new versions are much better, but DICE is literally my fav nmixx song and it's the same mixx pop sound and concept
I would love for NMIXX to go back to Mixxpop and I know many other people would; it was a very creative project but unfortunately due to the backlash they received and how it was handled, I think it would be wise to tone it down and continue without it. Even if most Kpop fans called them to bring their original sound back, we all know that some would be saying otherwise. I think one of the good things that came out of dropping mixxpop was that we finally get to hear more of their vocal talent, which was a wise move on JYP’s behalf.
I totally agree with you and the creator of the video. I think dropping it was necessary because it got them more popular and now people want it back like you and me. So bringing their mix pop songs back would probably be more appreciated than when it was actually there. Besides, they’ve performed new versions of O.O that made fans love or dislike the original version. But still bringing it back into conversations. However I have to agree with you that dropping the concept was very wise and smart from JYPE but I hope that they go back to it too in their next releases (which I hope are soon)
Since they recently performed the 2 versions of O.O, I wish they would include a mixxpop version of their title tracks and a b-side! I think it would be cool and give both mixxpop and something digestible for more mainstream
@@Iavcxoxoi think their mixxpop should've been explained better because according to jyp its can be mix of concepts or a mix of genre which explain why they never stay in one concept and if u follow their lore u would see how actually till now they've been in this adventure between multiple universe
@@Iavcxoxo but that how they were introduced to begin with... Like N from Nmixx stand for new as in New mixx , they obviously have to tone it down a little and u can't blame them people were very harsh if kpop stans were a bit more accepting we would've gotten far more experimental music At this point it feels like kpop stans are double faced because if they release another complex mixx pop they will get hate but if they released a more public friendly music they also will get hate
For the non NSWERs here they just performed two new songs at their first fan concert this weekend. Run for Roses and XOXO. AND there are two O.O new versions (Baila and Superhero) for the people who like the individual parts from the original :)))
I will be at work when this goes live sooo… Yes. But only if their producers are competent. You can compose mix pop tracks without jarring transitions that leave the audience wondering if they just had a stroke. I could totally see NMIXX pulling off a song like Mamamoo’s “Decalcomanie” and it being amazing! Heck, be predictable and do something similar to “Next Level” (I don’t care at this point). But when you have a group so talented that’s able to pull off such a difficult genre, they deserve better than post-2014 Drake producers. “Funky Glitter Christmas” is actually my favorite track of theirs because it shows what they’re capable of. Their 2023 releases have been enjoyable but feel like they’re not tapping into the group’s full potential. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk! Lol And I don’t even need to watch the video to know that it’s amazing. So, good job, Robbie! Always look forwards to your content! (I promise I’ll watch it when I get home from work lol)
I genuinely missed the Mixxpop from O.O and DICE, they are offputting at the start but i enjoyed the upbeat and changes to keep me occupied. Upbeat songs suits them and DICE definitely is their best colour
And they even performed better live with an upbeat song. Their live performances with party o clock/roller coaster with all those falsetto made it harder for them and quality did drop compared to their prior release.
I think if they debut with TANK, it’s going to be a very good debut. Tank has unique choreos, catchy and showcase vocals. And O.O should be a Bside with other two versions of it so people can understand how their concept is. Tank fits the “Water” Image concept of them (idk how to explain but their visual image is water drop…). And they should continue their concepts, because I kinda enjoy it now, the more I listen to O.O, I’m fall in love with it. And these girls deserve better outfits (match their concept outfits), O.O’s outfits has to be the best style era. Love NMIXX❤.
I believe the problem with mixxpop stems a lot from the way they decided to present and phrase their concept (apart from JYPE claiming to have invented a new genre or a new concept kpop when it's not the case, not the first time they have done that) If your concept is basically a very strict formula (Part A + switch up to part B + come back to part A) it can easily make your songs just be copies to each other (we have a problem with the Teddy formula for a reason) I wish JYP said that they were an experimental group, It would allow them more room to be more flexible and creative. My ideal for Nmixx is for them to do the f(x)'s router of experimental songs that still showcases their insane vocals
exactly, people act like nmixx had this revolutionary “quirky/experimental” sound and concept but they had a very generic concept. jyp just mashed two basic songs together without any thought, it isn’t experimental if you do the same basic thing every time. f(x) made experimental music, igab was experimental, catallena was quirky.
Very true, and one of the biggest problem is the lack of transition. They just put 2 songs that don't fit together in the same audio file, there's no brain process behind any of it, zero attempt at making it fit as one song. Many groups have done the "mixxpop" before like you said but people didn't lose their shit about it because it was done correctly, it felt like one song. Now people think that mixing genres or having a switch up NEEDS to have a hard cut with zero transition in between, that's how they identify this because most kpop fans are musically ignorant they need something insanely obvious to be able to see a difference.
I agree ! O.O 's change up felt rushed. I like the song, but there’s no doubt it sounds rushed. But DICE on the other hand, sounds nicely mixxed! Like O.O had no good transition, they just switched up. But in DICE, there’s an actual transition POINT where you are able to actual just point the transition area out. ( NMIXX CHANGE UP ) i Agree with the F(X) thing aswell, NMIXX fits experimental songs well.
In o.o they said it was a teaser. And in one of their new versions of o.o they ask “do you see it now”. So a delusional part of me thinks they may go back to mixx pop? or maybe they’re getting back at people who say o.o was bad by giving them the normally structured song they wanted?? No matter what happens I’ll be happy! I like how they’re trying out different genres atm. But I wish JYPE would figure their stuff out, for the sake of ALL of their groups.
hearing the two seperate versions of 'o.o' at their concert made me kinda sad, but excited. 'dice' is structured better, but i am curious if they’re gonna make separate versions for it.
i recently relistened to 'expergo' & although it isn't totally unique, it is nmixx to their very core & jyp should use it as a clean slate to start over from. maybe aeshetic wise, frame them as a group who's figuring things out with the use of fairytales, children's stories, or shakespeare plays? +if they debuted with 'expergo', i honestly think their "reputation" amongst fans wouldn't be as bad.
Short answer yes!! Why? Because without it, they are basically Kep1er. Having talented girls with amazing vocals and dancing who basically abandon their concept due to either the company or fans. And without mixxpop/mixxtopeia lore NMIXX name and brand just doesn't make any sense. They are to Pick 'N' Mix genres, production, songs together and see what happenes. Yes, it is quite experimental and can definitely go wrong, but at least people can identify them. If they were to get rid of their concept, they would need to pull a Dreamcatcher and completely rebrand themselves even their own name. Also, these talented girls deserve more than just generic pop/K-pop songs and familiar concept, that so many people say that they can hear any K-pop group singing (such as Password, Oh My Gosh, and Home).
I firmly feel that they ought to return to it. That's what made me fall in love with them right away. was the fact that it felt just how K-pop should. I had a sensation of nostalgia. It did, however, liven things up. At least for me, it gave the K-pop scene new life. basically stoked my fire. I'm quite content despite the scorching sensation. I'm aware that many people did not enjoy their debut or their initial comeback, but for me, that was the end of it. I was smitten by their debut. With their initial comeback, I was smitten. I consistently listen to their music more than anything else. More often than anything else that comes to mind, I always seem to play their music. That's who I turn to when I need anything to cheer me up. That's where I go when I need something to get me going. Of course, their most recent comebacks are still fantastic and outstanding. I still have a feeling that this is who they are. They can use it. Although it works for them, the focus of the group is mix pop. And I believe that is what most distinguishes them from others. You must at least acknowledge that they are a group whether you love them or loathe them, or whether you like or dislike their discography thus far you have to at least recognize that they are a group that gets a lot of individuals talking about them. They have my full attention. ❤ NMIXX FIGHTING
I'm a new fan and was looking for a new group after izone disbanded. i was really into their style like it's new to me. still looking forward for another nmixx change up thingy cause that really hooked me when i was recovering from iz
NMIXX became my ult group because I love the mixxpop concept and even if I'm sad they abandoned it It was better for the group When NMIXX debuted in the mv for O.O you could see there was a donut shop yk 'Pick N Mixx' they were literally made to 'Pick N Mixx' their songs/concepts People also say NMIXX shouldnt have used mixxpop when they first debuted but later after a few tracks Yeah I feel like JYP tried that with Itzy songs like Cheshire sound more like mixxpop than NMIXX's most recent songs With talent but songs that arent loved by the public NMIXX are just Kep1er However I feel like if NMIXX debuted later Im talking like mid/late 5th gen or even 6th gen they wouldve been loved Because 5th gen is all about simplicity and using a concept similar to NewJeans' and after that what are fans gonna want songs that are upbeat and messy like Dice and O.O
I would personally LOVE to see MIXXPOP comeback, but I want it to be unexpected genres. I want to see them try their hand at using traditional Korean genres in a MIXXPOP song. (Side note: I think Haewon would eat that up personally) I just want to see MIXXPOP truly come back, it’s what I loved NMIXX for in the beginning, even if I adore their latest comebacks too.
I think JYPE's problem is they don't know how mixpop is supposed to be handled, which I'll discuss. Some songs that did mixpop well include: - House Party SUPER JUNIOR (this is the best example imo) - Bang Bang Bang BIG BANG - Hate 4Minute - I will show you Ailee - Eternally TXT And while some of these aren't quite mixpop, they use beat changes, key changes or hook changes to change the tone of the song. A great example in many songs is the bridge- the bridge often changes tone. And there are three purposes of using mixpop or tonal changes: 1. Building hype and tension. When you hear the song change in Bang Bang Bang, you feel like jumping up and down or just having an absolute blast. When you hear the song go back to the main tune in House Party, you start having fun like you're at a real house party. 2. To subvert the audience's expectations. I will show you by Ailee is a great example. The song starts off as a slow ballard and then suddenly bounces into life. When you listen to it for the first time, you are surprised but the song has now captured your attention. And when you listen to it, you wait apprehensively for the change and jump into motion as soon as you hear it. 3. To tell a story, usually the heroe's journey in some capacity. Eternally by TXT is a good example. The two parts are so jarringly different from eachother, they invoke a sense of dream and nightmares, or dreams and reality. The album itself tells a story, and the music video for eternally is 19 minutes long. On top of that, there is a webtoon that includes many of the things that appear in that music video. When fans first heard eternally they were jarred but they understood it was a narrative piece in something much bigger than itself, as part of enhancing the album and the story of the album. Same with Hate by 4Minute: It tells a stroy of being sad and greving the end of a relationship before turning into bright anger and hate towards that person, and then settling into disgust. And those emotions are carried in the dychotomy of the mellow ballard turning into raging pop and rap. NMIXX DOES NOT ACCOMPLISH THESE OBJECTIVES IN THE SAME CAPACITY THEY SHOULD. - hype: In O.O, the idea is that hype will be built up when the song returns to its original theme after 'and finally, we'll win!' But the audience is so JARRED by the tone change, since it wasn't done smoothly, that they've only just gotten used to the new tune before being thrust back into the first one. So instead of being like YOOOOO!!!! They're like ??? :/. The stillness between the tone changes instead of a smooth transition makes it feel like two songs spliced together instead, so neither part enhances the other and makes a sense of tension. - Subverting expectations: People were just left confused and uncomfortable instead of blown away. - Telling a story: NMIXX wasn't made with narrative purposes in mind and neither were their songs. When you listen to their mixpop songs, the sense you get is there's too many things going on and that the tone changes are used moreso to show the capabilities of the groups rapping and singing capabilities without compromising one or the other. There isn't a narrative these songs supoort at all, from a musical sense or from NMIXX trying to tell a story in their concept in the first place. IF JYPE LEARNS HOW TO USE MIXPOP AND LEARN FROM OTHER GROUPS, then they should give mixpop another try. But as it currently stands, I think not.
POP music in the first place is like a melting pot of every genre people knew. Genre influences and some hints of it can be heard in most of pop songs and kpop is one of those and usually done with smooth transitions. I would like to use as an example "BEcause", the most pop sounding DREAMCATCHER song so far having around more than 5 genres combined in one track. The goal for pop music is to combine influences and genres so well and not like forcing water being one with oil.
IMO NMIXX is far from being a failed group. There are groups who hit it big later on, maybe that will be them, and even if they don’t, selling over a million copies first week 1 year into their career is anything but a flop. They could very well continue on the trajectory they are on now and be fine. I say the same thing with Itzy, too many people ask why they are still together but why wouldn’t they be when they also sell a lot and have decent sized tours? They still bring in a lot of money. Sometimes I do wonder if maybe JYP just doesn’t care this generation about having a top GG. Cause right now all of them, including Twice, are not really hitting the peaks other companies try to have their groups hit. Maybe they saw how competitive the industry is and decided to not even ‘try’ because they saw that their ggs still cash in a lot of money regardless. Idk, maybe that’s a bad take but I do wonder that. I also changed my mind a little on O.O, I still don’t like it but I kinda get what JYP was trying to do, which was make noise im the industry. I think they expected divisive opinions but unfotunarely got way more negative ones than positive. I personally wish NMIXX went back to mixpop because I felt like the idea was good even if the final products were not my favorite.
IKR, JYPE strict their gg so they cant reach top potential, bigger than JYPE. So they will always depend on JYPE. Like suzy's case, they gave her wings, and then she left them because she can achieve anything without them. Also like BP's case, they become bigger than YG, so they wont renew their contract I said same thing on other video, but some once & midzy attacking me 🙃
11:50 as a Belllie've I'm fine with them making more Billlie-coded (or should I say, GWSN-coded) song (such as Rollercoaster and Paxxword), because we can never have enough of those!
I love how NMIXX is getting known for its live singing in practice choreography videos. It's a seemingly small thing, but I think kpop fans appreciate the refreshing authenticity of it.
Reminds me of Cravity’s situation.. people wanted them to change their debut concept, and when they did said people didn’t come back even when they found a fitting concept.
I think giving up the concept of ur group is necessary as u grow as an artist and really want to have relevancy for a long time especially in mass produced music industry like kpop, there is always going to be someone who is going to better than u coming up next year, so keeping up relevancy is really important and with a concept which is so narrow (the problem with kpop) u can only explore so much, i really like conceptual groups I mean most of us are into kpop bc of their concept, we are not only here for the music but her the specific aesthetic, the outfits, the styling in general as well if we wanted a vague styling, but good music artist we would have just listened to normal American pop music but the world building and visuals in kpop attracts us to it so I get why concepts are very important for some kpop fans but let's be honest any group who has maintained relevancy as a older gen group have given up their concept (eg BTS twice) bc concept only last like 2 or 3 yrs so, I don't think people would have problem with them giving up their concept, the thing is that how fast they gave up the concept after 2 comebacks the whole concept was abandoned, and the shock plays into the whole hatred towards them abandoning their concept if they had done it 3 or 4 yrs down the line PPL would have not even a give a fuck but the problem is their concept was not just a good concept, that they could have kept up with 3 yrs I think PPL will stop caring about this few months bc once u start churning out good music the past rarely matters. I think kpop companies should learn from this case of nmixx and choose a concept carefully, a kpop group concept should not be narrow and should def not play with one specific genre, but also should have a special quality of their own, I think a good example of this is new jeans, they literally started the y2k trend and actually did it so good that everyone who tried to get on the board couldn't even compare, I think yes definitely the music plays def a big part in this but broadness of y2k concept really helped the group achieve great success but they tried so many genres in their last few comebacks also a good and unique styling really helps, I feel like lot of kpop groups are churning out same type of outfits, styling and makeup look these days that they don't have that individual characteristics that new jeans had when they debuted, all they want to do is hop on the trend, a concept is not necessary if u can Excel in these 3 basic thing ( music, styling, marketableness) and having a narrow concept really effect all these things.
I also think their way of still being in line with their name "NMIXX" is to mix up concepts every album/release. If you look at their discography, each release is greatly different from the other, so in a sense, they are "mixing it up"
you could say that, but it’s definitely not intentional. a group that did this well is red velvet, they went between dark and bright concepts but it still all felt very red velvet.
Y'all not getting it. As of now, the thing they're mixing is their concept😂 (their storyline with midsunmer & the mixxtopia) however their 2 tt's; LMLT is literally just RnB and Party O'Clock is just uk garage beat (they just slowed down the tempo when they entered the bridge) y'all stupid asf! They literally lost their MUSICAL IDENTITY, their recent title track is just ONE GENRE as well as LMLT (whole expergo is just 1 genre in each song) NMIXX's no1 identity is the fusion of different genres into 1 song! That is their MUSICAL IDENTITY. They literally had to drop it since the sound in demand for the music industry are easy sounding songs like Newjeans, IVE, Le sserasim, Aespa (yes that's just plain edm from B.M, Savage & Spicy, nothing too "complicated"). Y'all literally don't get it.
at their recent concert "mixx university" they actually separated the genres in O.O and performed two different tracks so i don't think theyve fully abandoned mixxpop, but instead building onto it and creating narrative around it as we all know, nmixx have LORE (lore that i cant explain bc its very complicated and abstract lol) but mixxpop plays a huge part in it, so im just trusting the process tbh none of this matters to me bc the members are talented and the music is enjoyable
This is a bit unrelated but I kinda understand why you can't really explain the lore, LMAO. NMIXX lore is definitely very abstract (tapping into the childishly complex territory of imagination) and sophisticatedly sprinkled throughout their entire discography. It's a bit vague and mind boggling for me at times, too but I just love it that it's not a straightforward storytelling like Aespa's (I also love their lore but Black Mamba's arc is just too straightforward in its build up for me. Plotline wise it is just straight to the point, and storytelling wise it's only shown through the MVs and SMCU very explicitly). NMIXX have us through different cryptid multimedia contents like the New Frontiers, Docking station or even some random newspaper teasers and it's like a quest to make a plot out of them for me. It's definitely harder to take a grasp of but also very delicate IMO.
you can‘t explain the lore because it‘s not well executed. 4 title tracks and literally no one truly knows whats going on. the love me like this barely had anything lore related in it.
@@shinigagamimibeing fair to love me like this, that song basically had no music video because they very clearly had to scrap whatever the original was with Jini’s departure. That’s why it looks like it was filmed on an iphone 14 in the back of studio choom 😭.
Thank you for telling things how they are. NMIXX is not flopping. They're selling good and a lot of people actually PREFER the new style as it's more digestible. There's still more daring music from there, just something we can finally enjoy. And guess what? I loved the newjeans-esque music style from them! Rollercoaster era was the best!
newjeans hasn’t made me feel anything after HYPE BOY. their company are coasting on their success. NMIXX has better tracks (especially from expergo), even if they are admittedly less popular.
On the Charts they are ever since they abandoned MIXXPOP. Both DICE and O.O outcharted Roller Coaster and Party O'Clock by a Mile and it's not even close. Even Tank, a B-Side, outcharted NJeans' most recent Title Track.
I feel like they could return to it with the right producers I think they could blend coinciding genres instead of completely jarring switches. I also think they should release the two separate songs along with the mixed versions
Yeah idk if the mixxpop should be incorporated into the individual songs themselves I think they should mix the concepts themselves and be known as a group that is talented and can pull of any type of song instead of mixing different songs into one.
i love all songs they’ve released. my favorites are young dumb stupid, o.o, roller coaster, home, tank, dice, cool (your rainbow), and love me like this. they have a really great discography
I think the problem mainly is their vocal mixing, because often their more explosive notes that should feel grand, overshadowed by a loud, even more explosive instrumental. Showcasing their pretty voices and abilities should be of more importance than a catchy instrumental in my opinion
Making good music is more important than sticking to a concept, period. If JYP can't do mixpop well (and all signs point to that) then it's better for the company _and the girls_ to continue with the wildly catchy, more mainstream pop of their last few comebacks.
Yes, I see the same thing as you Idk but I can't see the future when JYP will make a good mixx-pop song (DICE is somehow ok), and if they do mixx-pop, no one can know what if another O.O original ver with UNRESPECTFULLY mix will be released again So, unless the girls is completely ready and JYP can improve their producer skill, plz don't return to mixx-pop song, if not, Idk but O.O original is too much for me and I don't think I will accept them again if they release something like O.O original ver again
yeah i mean i’m a former a cappella singer, so i LOVE mashups & songs that sound like mashups!! my issue with nmixx has always been the production & not the mixxpop idea-their production has become more tolerable over time, especially as their releases have gotten softer, so i think if they took that soft sound & added in the mashup aspect it would be SO cool and the production wouldn’t ruin the songs for me !!
idk if you listen to her, but the artist charli xcx said the concept for album 'crash' was a satirical take on an artist selling her soul to make mega-hits for her record label & i so totally want nmixx to do a concept like this as a big "fuck you" to kpop stans who want them to change. maybe as their first full album? jyp if you're reading this, i am available to contact.
i can see why jyp decided to go for the experimental/girl crush route as it differentiates them from itzy & twice and though girl crush is an oversaturated genre, we haven't seen an "experimental" girl group in a long time, but i don't think much abt nmixx was thought through.
Mixxpop is unfortunately a double-edged sword. On one end, you will have people angry that they ditched the mixxpop; the fans who were here from the beginning. But on the other side, you have people who despite mixxpop. With the competency of JYP, I honestly think it's for the best they stay away from mixxpop. Out of all the issues that JYP is experiencing nowadays, NMIXX has to be the biggest mistake they've made. These girls are the most talented amongst their generation and JYP did exactly what you said; they used them as shock value when they had more than enough talent to make it to the top. NMIXX still have a chance though and I hope that JYP sorts their shit together, not only for NMIXX sake, but for all their other groups.
I’m in the minority that believes mixxpop wasn’t their problem in the first place. As a passionate I Got A Boy enjoyer I know it can work. And a year prior Next Level went viral which had a switchup as well. Mashing up sounds can work, but only if both sounds are enjoyable in their own right. This is Nmixx’s problem. When O.O came out a lot of people were saying they loved the middle pop rock section but hated everything else, and I count myself in the same boat. It was too shouty and abrasive, and the melodies weren’t catchy. At least not in a good way. DICE has the same problem, even though the change-up concept works better here because it’s less dramatic. Shouty and lacking really appealing melodies. When JYPE dropped the mixxpop concept they also simultaneously decided to make their music more melodic and let their vocals really shine. And the result are tracks that are overall much more pleasant to listen to and stronger overall, but less exciting than the mixxpop tracks. I think NMIXX in an ideal world should return to mixxpop, but with more effort placed into crafting good quality melodies and swearing off on chanty, shouty vocal delivery - they’re way too good at singing for that.
I personally want them to go back to Mixxpop, but I also know it's like double-edged sword. Sure, us fans will accept it because we know that's their core, their identity. They can have different genres every comeback but Mixxpop is their signature. But then again we also can't change the fact that in the end of the day, K-Pop is business, they need to sell well, charted well, and the fact is they get more popular with their traditional pop release like LMLT, surely from JYPE perspective, staying away from Mixxpop now is a good move and i can appreciate that.
Honestly, I don't know Run for Roses (which they performed in mixx university) can be considered as mixxpop but I think it would be great if jype releases it within this year because I do think it is the song which suits to them. Also, i wouldn't mind if they release it along with new O.O versions as a repackage album because these new versions sounds good too!
I kinda hope they do like they did with O.O and create other mixx songs and later release the songs they mixxed together. But I cant manage a group so I just hope the public accepets whichever decision JYPE makes and maybe we will grt better mixx songs (although I like their mixx songs) or just good songs that fit them like their 2 recent combacks
My ult grup is NMIXX, honestly i don't even care about their music and i always appreciate what nmixx do Well my taste/type of music is rock band/Group Band NOT BOYGROUP/GIRLGROUP it's different consept performance for example, Xdionaryheroes and DAY6 ,i wish oneday nmixx will have a rockband song or maybe they will performing like a band(no dancing just play acoustic and sing)
I love party o'clock and roller coaster and I didn't mind Dice and O.O BUT I absolutely despised Tank. As an Nswer, I really couldn't care less about the genre. What's important to me is that the music shines the light on the strengths of each member so they can all shine and that it sounds good. I definitely enjoy their 2 new songs better than the rest they've put out though so my vote would be no, they should just stick with what works now. Heck I wouldn't even mind if they just did covers because they are so good at it!
the first listen of O.O felt like hell i hated so much but once i got it i still sing it and listen to it to this day but cant say the same for party o'clock/roller coaster i liked them since first listen but i moved on from them real quick .. dice was perfect balance. my point is they r losing their longevity following trends BRING MIXPOP BACKKK
you miss the point Now is the era of "real" idols The success of girl groups lies in idol packaging and popularity It’s not about the quality of the song LE SSERAFIM and IVE are both on IZ*ONE Without the former members of IZ*ONE, there would be no success at all After the disillusionment of the myth of 이수만 Fans of SM Entertainment were originally moved to 민희진 Then transfer to NewJeans Today’s world is all about chasing the charm of idols It’s not about how good the song is This year a male idol sang a cover song It has no originality but has been rated as the best song by many RUclipsR Just because he is famous and has a lot of fans There are over a hundred KPOP songs in a given week What you hear is filtered In an era of economic downturn Idols are far more important than songs
I would loooove to see a deep dive on "TANK!" (pun lol) But for real, I didn't know how to feel about that song the first time I heard it. Or the second. Or the third. But eventually, it really grew on me and now I totally love it. "O.O" was pretty much the same experience for me; Everglow's "Pirate" also springs to mind as well. I think mixxpop tracks tend to need to marinate a little for me before I come around on them but once I "get" the concept and direction changes, I love how dynamic and exciting the genre shifts can be. It's one of the funnest elements of kpop for me.
I’m curious how their sales will be with their next album since on Spotify the streaming numbers for Roller & Party are doing very ok. And neither charted all that well in Korea. LMLT comes off as a one hit wonder/outlier. Dice & O.O performed on streaming on spotify much better. So they’re selling really well but the digital support at least globally took a hit
The thing is jyp didn't try at all with roller coaster and party o'clock at all they announced it in Twitter and that's it...the MV wasn't high budget or anything which I understand for a random summer song to thank fans but I think after a hit song u need to do more to promote the group , especially people loved roller coaster and a lot were saying it's the best summer release of the year
Their mixxpop should've been arranged with much more cohesive transition, balanced layering of vocals (adlibs, riffs & runs) no unessecary highnotes & adlibs especially NO dance break
I don’t want to loose hope that mixpop will reappear from their discography. It is that, what truly made them special among this competition. However I see what the group needs to succeed. I would love mixpop bsides and more toned down title tracks for the general public. To me, this would be the best way for the group to maintain their fan base. But since albums are also disappearing I don’t know whether jyp is smart enough. Great video!
personally i'd like it if one out of every few releases was a mixxpop release. they'd continue on their current trajectory for most of their career while still sprinkling in a few experimental songs here and there for fun. i think that would keep things interesting and also help them appeal to both those who like their "normal" music and those (me, lol) who like their "mixxpop" music.
as a previous brockhampton fan i loved o.o but the hate they got made me sad so i was okay with them moving to more traditional pop but either way anything that makes the girls less vulnerable to unyielding hate
This is actually something I feel like so many people would be divided on. Despite mixxpop being a good way to identify and differentiate the group, and I personally loved their mixxpop genre, it could honestly be better for them not to go back to it since they’ve been doing better with their non mixxpop music (I forgot which one but I think it was love me like this got their first win) and a majority of ppl probably prefer them to not go back to mixxpop. I’m also so heavily divided since I would love for them to go back to mixxpop but not doing that might be better for them overall
FUNKY GLITTER CHRISTMAS and YOUNG DUMB STUPID are amazing songs without being in your face. O.O and DICE are catchy songs as well, but those sound like they were trying to prove something.
Look at the Charts: O.O and DICE outcharted both Roller Coaster and Party O'Clock and it's not even close. That says all. NMIXX' Sound Change to NJeans helping them appeal to the Masses is a Myth.
I think they had a good idea with the way everything was announced, the preorder of the first album and such just that they maybe shouldnt have used mixxpop for the first few releases, maybe when they had a few vocal heavy songs as the first few comebacks to show off the talent they have and then go with a mixxpop trilogy to show off something really diffrent
Loved the video, I honestly am trying to get into Nmixx and I enjoyed O.o and Dice! And a side note I have is that I agree with what you said about the current state of Itzy’s music. I'm really sad Jype would just throw away such good talent for songs that are just not good. I stanned Itzy because of their debut songs and now it just feels like I’m watching Jype dig Itzy grave and slowly drag Itzy into that grave, hopefully, their next comeback ain’t hot trash!
I really miss them on Mixxpop, the strong vocals and sound of o.o, tank and dice was amazing. At the begining o.o shocked me, but I got to love it, and tank was the perfect complement. Dice was amazing, I couldn't stop listening to it. I remember most of the backlash they got with o.o and dice, was that the lyrics were empty and didn't make any sense, so maybe they should've improve that before changing the whole genre... But well, hopefully they'll comeback with some middle point between party o'clock and dice, although as you say, I don't really see much effort from JYP in general, looks like he's ready to retire xD
Related to the beginning of the video- i am never gonna get over Itzy's music change. I loved every title track up until mafia in the morning, and then after that it was just like.... where is this going. Compared to their recent releases, I actually like mafia now, which is saying a lot lol
Man I hope the producers of nmixx will do some song like ISTJ by NCT Dream, like some parts only different from the main song and blend smoothly, and they should also consider to have separate full songs from that main song like what they had done to O.O and the separate full songs on their concert. Going to O.O, the first time I heard it, I was like, 'ok', I kinda like it. The only gripe I have is the mixing. I don't have any knowledge how to mix music, but there is something that feels flat on their vocals and their is not much dynamics even if they are belting on some parts, compared to Love Me Like This. LMLT vocal mixing felt much more dynamic to me.
I liked Mixxpop like i was a o.o fan from the start but i can understand why that has a less broad appeal. I dont know if they should lose mixxpop all together it was fun and it set them apart from the other groups but maybe they could have a of both on their albums like one regular song and one mixxpop for title tracks and maybe the rest of the album can flow to match these two concepts together like idk i feel like there are ways to experiment and that can make it work jyp just has to pull their shit together and get creative
I almost feel like if NMIXX had continued in the direction of Dice, they could have done better. But éxpergio was so much fun, i wasnt even mad about the lack of mixpop. I think I'm more frustrated because Party O'clock and Rollercoaster don't quite feel like NMIXX songs. The songs are good, but it feels like a different color from everything else, including the songs that weren't so mixxy. Éxpergio felt like NMIXX. It was straight up pop, but it felt like it belonged to that group. I don’t geel the same way about their most recent single album, but I'm okay with that. NMIXX was never my favorite, and every group will release music I'm not fond of. I might like Rollercoaster next year sometime when i hear it in the right mood.
Something I think about a lot is when Stray Kids released S-Class and it had the mixxpop section everyone was like "omg its so good!" but when NMIXX did the exact same thing a year prior and were literally called the worst debut of all time.
If you ARE saying that. Then that means you don't really listen to Nmixx because they are still doing mixxpop. Also doing it or not is their choice. They can't just do it in every single song. That's just not feasible. The MIXX UP songs are MUCH MUCH harder to create than normal songs. Plus normal songs have more market acceptability, so they are also just as important to do.
Personally, I didn't like their last comeback at all but I liked 'Love me like this'. They should keep that style for the next comebacks. Songs with powerful vocals and energetic performances like their cover Hey mama or that comeback favors them the most. I think NMIXX have a lot of potential if JYP follows that route for them. Although I think songs like Dice (with a less dramatic switch up) could work as the promotional b-side or pre-release. And then later release the two versions of the song as they did the other day for o.o.
party oclock was fun and cute mixpop is more fun as a genre but i find party oclock far more enjoyable therefore more fun, i don’t think it’s completely unreasonable for someone to enjoy their mixpop songs they’re not bad at all but as a casual listener i have enjoyed their later songs more
There's only 2 options here for division 4 to choose from, its either: 1.) They find a better team of composers & producers that executes MIXXPOP better or; 2.) Change their name & concept. Rebrand them if they want to rely on the GP audience.
i think this was just another instance of a company not wanting to wait long enough to see how a group developed. they wanted instant success and didn't get it. however, they're a jyp group. jyp can afford to wait a couple comebacks to develop a sound that works and that the fans like, unlike other companies that changet their group's concept out of necessity. instead, they went the route of following the trends to get (more) success and abandoned the group's identity completely. dice was a clear improvement from o.o and if their company had just given it time, they could have made the mixpop sound work. not only that, people were starting to warm up to their music. i was seeing people say that the music worked because it was nmixx. now i'm honestly scared that nmixx is just gonna have an identity crisis just like itzy did, but this time it's even worse. at least itzy managed to develop a sound that they can go back to if all else fails. nmixx won't have a concept that they know works, like itzy does. love me like that and party o'clock work simply because it's the trend to make songs like that. they're good songs, but once this trend passes, what does nmixx have to go back to? if you look at ive, for example, they managed to make the current trends fit in with their concept and their sound. and this happend because they actually have a sound and an image they can build off of. jyp just gave up on the first try, which is what made me upset. i was one of the people that liked o.o from the beginning and was curious to see how they could build on it. because, even if i like the song, it's a whole mess. and they proved they could make it work with dice, so why stop there?
JYPE definitely should’ve just said they were an experimental group in the first place. That may have stopped some of the hate and the mixx pop discourse. People just need to realise it’s the companies to blame a lot of the time, not the artists!
i agree with you, however, nmixxs mixpop songs have more streams than their newer songs, they have those type of songs that get stuck into ur head that initially u dont like but its so catchy that u just have to listen to them again
I feel like I always see people say they miss mixxpop but wheres that support and love when they did mixxpop? I loved dice and liked O.O but I think they should stick to traditional pop and slowly transition to mixxpop, or have bside mixxpop
Let’s be fr o.o is pretty bad for international listeners or unless you get used to it and it definitely had a big shock value with the dance break and so did tank but if they need popularity like Lesserafim newjeans I’ve Aespa itzy etc They need hit songs that blow up on TikTok or RUclips for example Omg/Next level/Antifragile/LoveDive Nmixx had there big song with Dice, wich I say is there best song due to the big wave blowing up and there dance and there music video and there editing and promotions were all perfect it was there best album that’s realsed in my opinion now I feel like lmlt and party O Clock are very good songs but for some reason I see those songs as b side songs but like in order for there to be a hit or smash, that’s what Nmixx needs to be considered on the league and get more and more album sales and popularity and brand promotion to be recognized they can do that with or withought the mix pop it’s all up to jyp ,dice is a very good example I just wish they kept the Nmixx pop for a little longer after dice because it felt like a story but after the big blow out with jinni I thought they would have kept the mix pop but I felt like that took the turn for the worse and got less attention wich I found weird that there sales went up by a million which is great for jyp but it won’t always be that way if they don’t have a strong fan base and a consistent sound , considering they debuted a year ago
Personally as long as they keep making great songs I don't care if it's Mix Pop or not. Dice is my favorite song by them but I didn't care for their debut songs. Ever since Dice I've loved all their music even Young, Dumb, Stupid. The way I look at Nmixx now is the mixx part of their name just means they just mix up their concept.
Honestly, I’d say that Stray Kids diverged the most from their concept. They were supposed to be a group like NCT 127 that opposes the flower/soft boy concept (this BTS, EXO, GOT7, Astro, Pentagon, etc.). Now, they don’t feel like “Stray” Kids. They feel like they’ve actually found a home and act more like guardians/protectors of said home. I need Marvel to offer them some sort of deal where they get a one-season-thirteen-episode series that focuses on SKZ as super heroes. Twice has actually changed the most from a cute/middle school concept to a teen crush/high school concept to now a young adult/university level concept. I love how Twice has allowed their music to grow up with their fans! And as far as Itzy goes… Y’all have seen Mera’s video… JYPE doesn’t know what they’re doing anymore. Funnily enough, their Japanese title tracks are more in line with their original identity/concept than some of their more recent Korean title tracks.
NMIXX has unfortunately not had the luxury of nugu groups to have a rocky start because Big 3 companies have these high expectations. And with JYPE mismanaging their groups, YGE not having groups to manage, and SME being a dumpster fire with polarizing music (I personally love it, but the gp clearly doesn’t), people keep hoping for each Big 3 debut to be this saving grace to these companies. That was NMIXX’s burden last year. It was Riize’s burden this year. And it’s going to be Baby Monster’s burden next year. Right now, groups with a solid identity tend do better (Aespa, IVE, NewJeans, etc.). This is why a lot of boy groups tend to feel underwhelming. mixx pop is NMIXX’s identity. And I think they need to embrace it or quickly find a new one. Talent isn’t enough on its own (just look at Mamamoo). They have so much potential to really get everyone to reassess how we perceive and listen to music. But as things currently are, the aren’t doing so. Their producers need to up their game or JYPE needs to hire new talent. I seriously need the company to get it’s act together. And can we stop praising JYPE for being “the first company to have five active girl groups” when Twice is losing momentum, Itzy is losing their identity, NMIXX doesn’t have an identity, NiziU isn’t as popular as the others, and VCHA… do I even have to talk about this group?
I dont think that you can base a successful group on mix pop alone its usually always people most unliked comeback even if it sells well like SCLASS or I got a boy i remember people didnt like they song that much when it came out. I think its silly to completely abandon the concepts when the group is called NMIXX. I feel like SM has some of the more successful mixpop songs. I've seen some people suggest having two version of the songs (like they showcased recently ) and then have them combined for the title track
As much as I'd want to see mixxpop come back, I don't think it will simply becuz of the reaction to O.O and DICE from the general kpop community and how well NMIXX's recent songs have been doing. I still love the more recent songs tho! Roller Coaster surpremacy all the way! B) (DICE will still be my fav from them tho)
its just funny their whole entire name is about how they mix genres and sounds and that was gonna be their thing and then they ditched it after 2 cbs. i think they coulda kept the concept if the songs are good. i got a boy, love cherry motion, and next level come to mind as well executed versions of this idea.
As a listener, I'd want the Mixxpop back because I LOVED O.O and Dice from the first listen and although I also loved Love Me Like This a lot, I didn't vibe with the rest of the new material. But I also know for sure that NMIXX members have incredible talent and potential as performers and the last thing I want is for their careers to get thrown off just to appease my desire for more experimental sounds since their company has shown time and time again that they are not doing the work for it. If I believed JYP could unapologetically go all-in on that concept (like the members were doing from the START performing O.O and Dice, like, come on!), I'd have been clamouring for it.
i feel like the problems were the handling of the backlash AND WHO THEIR AUDIENCE WAS, jyp fans were mainly the ones who probably bought copies of the album predebut which made it a shock to them bc their company has really catchy pop or typical boygroup sound, so you bring a group that competes w aespa and theyre O_o.
THIS IS OUT OF CONTEXT BUT IF O.O HAVING THE TWO VERSIONS; BAILA VER. AND SUPERHERO VER., THEN I THINK DICE COULD HAVE 2 VERSIONS TOO! (I THINK IT'S CARD VER. AND WAVE VER., THAT WOULD BE COOL!)
it's just so wild to me because i remember when o.o came out i was not only not a fan of the song but was really pissed off because it felt like this group blatantly ripped off next level. my friend and i got into arguments over this when the song came out lmao it feels funny now since i've slowly come to appreciate the song. i then really liked dice when it came out but when they abandoned their whole debut concept i was just like.. so why did we cause all this commotion just to do the safer basic route, when, in my opinion, love me like this wasnt even great. though, roller coaster one of the best kpop songs i've heard in a while. so basically... i dont know. makes me sad that jype doesnt have enough faith in their artists to let them stand out, and that people online are so cruel. i think mixxpop is really hard to pull off, like you said, but they were onto something with dice. giving that up just feels cowardly to me, but we got good songs out of it (roller coaster, party o'clock). also jype shouldve done more to protect their idols from the backlash they knew this was going to create. nmixx brave as hell, super talented, and i'm still rooting for them.
nmixx mixxpop got me hook. some people hate it, and hating nmixx for doing a unique style of nmixx music but now people wanted mixxpop again people can't make up their mind. i love O.O and Dice and i hope their music return to mixxpop again i can't wait
i hate that nmixx got backlash from ditching the mixx pop concept. that's fine, they needed to change in fact. if their mixx pop producers wouldve taken AGES to well execute their whole prog (progressive) pop k-pop thing, then it would just make more sense to take the new rnb/dance-pop sound now. you can still experiment within rnb & dance pop - think about red velvet. i agree. music is something you shouldn't force yourself to listen to.
Probably the most unpopular opinion but i do not care about the quality of the music and genuinely love the mix pop, it felt like listening to really good different songs at once and that made me happy
I can say the same about O.O. The changeups may be more drastic but that's why it's good. I don't like how JYP is now splitting that song into two.
@@aiaiaiaiiaii0000 some people can't make up their minds lol they are not gonna get satisfied no matter what nmixx does
I don't think the community will accept mixx pop. Its unfortunate for me because I *loved* the chaos that was Dice, OO and Tank.
Same here!
I love them too 😭
nmixx is for the arts not the charts
@@njmsjmdctsea1043O.O is just noise and there is nothing artistic about that mess of a song.
@@njmsjmdctsea1043 and how you can handle if that art makes you get countless and unmanaged backlash/ hatred from the audience? Retire or change?
I am one of those that was obsessed with Mixxpop since day 1. I wish they would do the MIXXPOP like O.O and Dice as their B-side or sth.
Since they recently performed the 2 versions of O.O, I wish they would include a mixxpop version of their title tracks and a b-side! I think it would be cool and give both mixxpop and something digestible for more mainstream
@@mjan3906fr their last mixxpop wasn’t mixxpop tbh it was like mixxpop but like the best or genera never changed 😭
@@Iavcxoxoi think their mixxpop should've been explained better because according to jyp its can be mix of concepts or a mix of genre which explain why they never stay in one concept and if u follow their lore u would see how actually till now they've been in this adventure between multiple universe
@@rabitlim4511 that’s not mixxpop though 😭 idk maybe but i just dotn and never will believe that their last mixxpop song wasn’t even a mix

At this point it feels like kpop stans are double faced because if they release another complex mixx pop they will get hate but if they released a more public friendly music they also will get hate

Funky Glitter Christmas is by far my favourite nmixx song and it’s quickly becoming one of my favourite Christmas songs, it’s such a bop!!
FUNKY GLITTER CHRISTMAS SUPREMACY ☝️
its rare to see an FGC enjoyer lol
@@_saesae_1 i’m playing it right now! 😅 that, along with MY GOSH, i believe are their best songs 🥰
@@TheYearOfJerome YES! We need more songs like 'My Gosh'

The grip TANK had on me in 2022...
That's the point only tt's was supposed to be a mixxpop
I believe the problem with mixxpop stems a lot from the way they decided to present and phrase their concept (apart from JYPE claiming to have invented a new genre or a new concept kpop when it's not the case, not the first time they have done that)
If your concept is basically a very strict formula (Part A + switch up to part B + come back to part A) it can easily make your songs just be copies to each other (we have a problem with the Teddy formula for a reason)
I wish JYP said that they were an experimental group, It would allow them more room to be more flexible and creative.
( NMIXX CHANGE UP ) i Agree with the F(X) thing aswell, NMIXX fits experimental songs well.
i need a f(x) red light from them
@@nightxmoon8294 Exactly!!
+if they debuted with 'expergo', i honestly think their "reputation" amongst fans wouldn't be as bad.
is MY GOSH your favorite NMIXX song, because i won’t allow anything else other than that and FGC. hehe, jk.
Please. I absolutely love dice and o.o. Their other songs are good, but those 2 just hit different. I would give anything to have more music like that
Crazy coincidence that I literally have been binging in their music this entire week which I never actually do and now you posted a video about them!
Yeah why even call the group NMIXX at this point since their signature sound has been transformed into something more generic and mass-produced?
lol. those are their BEST SONGS, though. they are very talented, but were admittedly flopping, before expergo.
NMIXX wasn’t meant to be mixing songs they did but it means they can pull of any concept so every com back could be a different concept
@@DA_Aldliterally no one from their company ever said anything about them mixing and doing different concepts. it was about mixing genres in each song

Yeah I feel like JYP tried that with Itzy songs like Cheshire sound more like mixxpop than NMIXX's most recent songs
With talent but songs that arent loved by the public NMIXX are just Kep1er
However I feel like if NMIXX debuted later Im talking like mid/late 5th gen or even 6th gen they wouldve been loved
Because 5th gen is all about simplicity and using a concept similar to NewJeans' and after that what are fans gonna want songs that are upbeat and messy like Dice and O.O
nmixx should be mixxpop because after NJs debuted they changed everything in kpop
@@Iavcxoxo literally nothing changed.
Some songs that did mixpop well include:
- House Party SUPER JUNIOR (this is the best example imo)
- Bang Bang Bang BIG BANG
- Hate 4Minute
- I will show you Ailee
- Eternally TXT
And while some of these aren't quite mixpop, they use beat changes, key changes or hook changes to change the tone of the song. A great example in many songs is the bridge- the bridge often changes tone. And there are three purposes of using mixpop or tonal changes:
The goal for pop music is to combine influences and genres so well and not like forcing water being one with oil.
i love dreamcatcher and ive been saying that because is one of their best songs. its not forceably "rock" or metal, it just sounds so good like wtf
I hope for a new video from you about Nmixx improved mixpop 😊 Dash was a great song🎉
IKR,
JYPE strict their gg so they cant reach top potential, bigger than JYPE. So they will always depend on JYPE.
Like suzy's case, they gave her wings, and then she left them because she can achieve anything without them.
Also like BP's case, they become bigger than YG, so they wont renew their contract
I said same thing on other video, but some once & midzy attacking me 🙃
11:50 as a Belllie've I'm fine with them making more Billlie-coded (or should I say, GWSN-coded) song (such as Rollercoaster and Paxxword), because we can never have enough of those!
I personally loved o.o especially the part with the flowers where they sing « I can be your super hero ! Zip zap come on come on »
I love how NMIXX is getting known for its live singing in practice choreography videos.
@@mookchieit actually very much intentional their name is literally Nmixx as in NEW MIXX as In new genres and new concepts each time
Y'all not getting it. Y'all literally don't get it.
at their recent concert "mixx university" they actually separated the genres in O.O and performed two different tracks
so i don't think theyve fully abandoned mixxpop, but instead building onto it and creating narrative around it
as we all know, nmixx have LORE (lore that i cant explain bc its very complicated and abstract lol)
but mixxpop plays a huge part in it, so im just trusting the process tbh
none of this matters to me bc the members are talented and the music is enjoyable
"newjeans-esque" Nmixx feel like more an earlier Twice than NewJeans
Roller coaster is so far away from anything NJ released
@@rabitlim4511 yes~~~ NJ is so... their music is like..., Idk but from their first debut until now I can't remember who they are
On the Charts they are ever since they abandoned MIXXPOP.
Yes, I see the same thing as you
Idk but I can't see the future when JYP will make a good mixx-pop song (DICE is somehow ok), and if they do mixx-pop, no one can know what if another O.O original ver with UNRESPECTFULLY mix will be released again
So, unless the girls is completely ready and JYP can improve their producer skill, plz don't return to mixx-pop song, if not, Idk but O.O original is too much for me and I don't think I will accept them again if they release something like O.O original ver again
DICE would like to object.
yeah i mean i’m a former a cappella singer, so i LOVE mashups & songs that sound like mashups!! my issue with nmixx has always been the production & not the mixxpop idea-their production has become more tolerable over time, especially as their releases have gotten softer, so i think if they took that soft sound & added in the mashup aspect it would be SO cool and the production wouldn’t ruin the songs for me !!
idk if you listen to her, but the artist charli xcx said the concept for album 'crash' was a satirical take on an artist selling her soul to make mega-hits for her record label & i so totally want nmixx to do a concept like this as a big "fuck you" to kpop stans who want them to change. maybe as their first full album? jyp if you're reading this, i am available to contact.
i like crash! i remember being obsessed with lightning last year
i can see why jyp decided to go for the experimental/girl crush route as it differentiates them from itzy & twice and though girl crush is an oversaturated genre, we haven't seen an "experimental" girl group in a long time, but i don't think much abt nmixx was thought through.
You really called me out when you said “I know how stays can get” lmao😭 I get what you mean how it sounds rushed, but personally I love it
Mixxpop is unfortunately a double-edged sword.
My ult grup is NMIXX, honestly i don't even care about their music and i always appreciate what nmixx do
Well my taste/type of music is rock band/Group Band NOT BOYGROUP/GIRLGROUP it's different consept performance for example, Xdionaryheroes and DAY6 ,i wish oneday nmixx will have a rockband song or maybe they will performing like a band(no dancing just play acoustic and sing)
Party o'clock and roller coaster were more of a summer release to thank fans for their support
you miss the point
Now is the era of "real" idols
The success of girl groups lies in idol packaging and popularity
It’s not about the quality of the song
LE SSERAFIM and IVE are both on IZ*ONE
Without the former members of IZ*ONE, there would be no success at all
After the disillusionment of the myth of 이수만
Fans of SM Entertainment were originally moved to 민희진
Then transfer to NewJeans
Today’s world is all about chasing the charm of idols
It’s not about how good the song is
This year a male idol sang a cover song
It has no originality but has been rated as the best song by many RUclipsR
Just because he is famous and has a lot of fans
There are over a hundred KPOP songs in a given week
What you hear is filtered
In an era of economic downturn
Idols are far more important than songs
I would loooove to see a deep dive on "TANK!" (pun lol)
But for real, I didn't know how to feel about that song the first time I heard it.
Thank you for mentioning the skz thing. If I see any issue with one of their songs, they will freak.
I just hope the next comeback is good, wherever is mixx pop or the more simpler pop songs.
personally i'd like it if one out of every few releases was a mixxpop release. they'd continue on their current trajectory for most of their career while still sprinkling in a few experimental songs here and there for fun. i think that would keep things interesting and also help them appeal to both those who like their "normal" music and those (me, lol) who like their "mixxpop" music.
as a previous brockhampton fan i loved o.o but the hate they got made me sad so i was okay with them moving to more traditional pop but either way anything that makes the girls less vulnerable to unyielding hate
This comment comes at a crazy coincidental time because I just finished re-running through brockhamptons discography
Nmixx was one of my favorites debut I loved the concept and the uniqueness
I dont know if they should lose mixxpop all together it was fun and it set them apart from the other groups but maybe they could have a of both on their albums like one regular song and one mixxpop for title tracks and maybe the rest of the album can flow to match these two concepts together
like idk i feel like there are ways to experiment and that can make it work jyp just has to pull their shit together and get creative
S-Class is basicly O.O. It even does the off-throwing Intro.
I think it would be good only if the producers do the transitions right. The members are talented enough to pull it off.
And then later release the two versions of the song as they did the other day for o.o.
party oclock was fun and cute mixpop is more fun as a genre but i find party oclock far more enjoyable therefore more fun, i don’t think it’s completely unreasonable for someone to enjoy their mixpop songs they’re not bad at all but as a casual listener i have enjoyed their later songs more
answering the title before even watching: yes they absolutely should god pls
There's only 2 options here for division 4 to choose from, its either:
1.) They find a better team of composers & producers that executes MIXXPOP better or;
2.) Change their name & concept.
Yes they should. Haven't even watched the video, but I'm answering the question.. YES!!
I feel like I always see people say they miss mixxpop but wheres that support and love when they did mixxpop? I loved dice and liked O.O but I think they should stick to traditional pop and slowly transition to mixxpop, or have bside mixxpop
Let’s be fr o.o is pretty bad for international listeners or unless you get used to it and it definitely had a big shock value with the dance break and so did tank but if they need popularity like Lesserafim newjeans I’ve Aespa itzy etc
They need hit songs that blow up on TikTok or RUclips for example
Omg/Next level/Antifragile/LoveDive Nmixx had there big song with Dice, wich I say is there best song due to the big wave blowing up and there dance and there music video and there editing and promotions were all perfect it was there best album that’s realsed in my opinion now I feel like lmlt and party O Clock are very good songs but for some reason I see those songs as b side songs but like in order for there to be a hit or smash, that’s what Nmixx needs to be considered on the league and get more and more album sales and popularity and brand promotion to be recognized they can do that with or withought the mix pop it’s all up to jyp ,dice is a very good example I just wish they kept the Nmixx pop for a little longer after dice because it felt like a story but after the big blow out with jinni I thought they would have kept the mix pop but I felt like that took the turn for the worse and got less attention wich I found weird that there sales went up by a million which is great for jyp but it won’t always be that way if they don’t have a strong fan base and a consistent sound , considering they debuted a year ago
Dice by far has the same feeling with Twice's TT and I like it so very much!!
Finally watching this! I’m going to write my usual essay in the replies as to not take up the entire comments section lol
I loved mix pop ! Ivd been supporting them since debut Id love if they come back with mix pop 💗😭🥺
IGAB was a #1 Song through, just as Next Level and Savage reached #2.
i will always adore o.o and dice just because no song has ever gave me the same feeling ever
As much as I'd want to see mixxpop come back, I don't think it will simply becuz of the reaction to O.O and DICE from the general kpop community and how well NMIXX's recent songs have been doing. I still love the more recent songs tho! Roller Coaster surpremacy all the way! B)
(DICE will still be my fav from them tho)
Yes cuz if they don’t do mixxpop they would just be called N
its just funny their whole entire name is about how they mix genres and sounds and that was gonna be their thing and then they ditched it after 2 cbs. i think they coulda kept the concept if the songs are good. i got a boy, love cherry motion, and next level come to mind as well executed versions of this idea.
rollercoaster is literally their best song
agree, and not only because it's Billlie-coded
Nah LMLT is better
1:10 I think it's still fine to name it as mixxpop since they're the one who bothered naming it
THIS IS OUT OF CONTEXT BUT IF O.O HAVING THE TWO VERSIONS; BAILA VER. AND SUPERHERO VER., THEN I THINK DICE COULD HAVE 2 VERSIONS TOO! (I THINK IT'S CARD VER. AND WAVE VER., THAT WOULD BE COOL!)
it's just so wild to me because i remember when o.o came out i was not only not a fan of the song but was really pissed off because it felt like this group blatantly ripped off next level. my friend and i got into arguments over this when the song came out lmao it feels funny now since i've slowly come to appreciate the song. i then really liked dice when it came out but when they abandoned their whole debut concept i was just like.. so why did we cause all this commotion just to do the safer basic route, when, in my opinion, love me like this wasnt even great. though, roller coaster one of the best kpop songs i've heard in a while. so basically... i dont know. makes me sad that jype doesnt have enough faith in their artists to let them stand out, and that people online are so cruel. i think mixxpop is really hard to pull off, like you said, but they were onto something with dice. giving that up just feels cowardly to me, but we got good songs out of it (roller coaster, party o'clock). also jype shouldve done more to protect their idols from the backlash they knew this was going to create. nmixx brave as hell, super talented, and i'm still rooting for them.
nmixx mixxpop got me hook. some people hate it, and hating nmixx for doing a unique style of nmixx music but now people wanted mixxpop again people can't make up their mind. i love O.O and Dice and i hope their music return to mixxpop again i can't wait
i've always been a fan of shoog shoog and if they switch concept then what can i do abt it
i hate that nmixx got backlash from ditching the mixx pop concept. that's fine, they needed to change in fact. if their mixx pop producers wouldve taken AGES to well execute their whole prog (progressive) pop k-pop thing, then it would just make more sense to take the new rnb/dance-pop sound now. you can still experiment within rnb & dance pop - think about red velvet. i agree. music is something you shouldn't force yourself to listen to.
Legit the concept could’ve worked but I believe Love Me Like This is their true sound. It showed when they covered Beyoncé Get Me Bodied
Probably the most unpopular opinion but i do not care about the quality of the music and genuinely love the mix pop, it felt like listening to really good different songs at once and that made me happy
