The owner of Thornbridge Brewery lives at Thornbridge Hall, near Ashford-in-the-water, deep in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District. You can visit the hall, it has been restored by the owners from semi-derelict to a wonderful, quirky home that has masses of Arts & Crafts detail in the interior. It's the best stately home tour we have ever had, the guide was the brother of Emma, who is married to the owner of Thornbridge Brewery, he even took us into the kitchen where the two owners were busy preparing omelettes for their breakfast! They chatted to us for about 10 minutes and didn't mind at all that we had disturbed their breakfast preparations! The brewery used to be based in the grounds of the hall, but quickly outgrew this and is now in Bakewell, Derbyshire. They are the official beer suppliers to Sheffield Wednesday football club.
Enjoyed it just before second lockdown in the Willow Walk Wetherspoons for 99p a pint. Was meaning to take a two pint carry out the next day to see if the manager can fill it up for £2 pointing out if the Barrel isn't finished it would be wasted
I am sure there is a video interview with the folks at Thornbridge where there said (I'm paraphrasing) there were a few batches of Jaipur that weren't upto snuff. Last time I tried it, it was tasting as fantastic as ever.
Ex-pat here. Tried it from tesco last time I was back in 2022 and didn’t think much of it, mind you I don’t think it was super fresh. Would love to try it fresh on tap
The bottled version even better, as bottle conditioned. Only £2.20 a 500ml bottle in Morrisons, also 4 for 3. It did go a bit rubbish for a while but is back on form.
Not sure if this is a serious question.......? If it is, IPA stands for India Pale Ale. There are plenty of videos on youtube about the history of IPA.
I went on the Thornbridge Hall tour and were told Emma and Jim Harrison the owners, were married while on holiday there and that's where the name came from.
I remember Jaipur at Wetherspoons once, £1.49 a pint. I had six pints in an hour. Fantastic beer.
I'm surprised you remember tbh🤣
Wow, a bargain session!
I remember my mate running across the car par after his shift at Tesco. I said "where are you going?" he said: "Jaipur's on at Wetherspoons!!" lol
@@PaulJones-k3f Haha I never had a pint of it in Whetherspoons but they used to sell bottles of it at one point
Proper chap ! 🍻🍺🍻🍺👍👍

Nostalgia is a funny old thing. When you first reviewed this you gave it about 8 and were hardly blown away.

Everybody loves jaipur fantastic Simon
LEGENDARY beer!
Great beer one of my favorites
Did we ever see what was in window number 15?
They've released a Noir and an X Jaipur now, both great.
Bottle version is meh. Can or cask is brilliant
Why would you name an IPA with a city in India.

What do you think the ‘I’ in IPA stands for?
IPA stands for independent Portuguese Ale and Jaipur is Portuguese for cloudy beer. Quite simple really.
@@paulvalentine8172haha love it
