alright alright alright
Do i google ‘abandoned stuff’ now i shoot film or?
@@MikeChudleyUK abandoned = castle ruins, US abandoned = crack shack. Same same but different haha.
I love shooting both digital AND film. But the LUXURY of hybrid (digital & film) shooting...being able to adapt and switch to different lighting scenarios. Love the setup.
Everyone :The new Pentax 17
Mike :My new Leica MP
Hahah totally
I have to say it’s kind of cute watching you “kids” (I say that as a huge fan of your channel, Mike 🌟) put film in cameras without exposing it and then removing it. Think of what it was like in the 60s through the 90s waiting for two weeks and finding out only a few photos turned out well. Our heyday was when prints could be developed in a… day. lol. Roman’s words of wisdom… “There’s only 36 shots in a roll of film; make them count.” I couldn’t go back to using film, but it’s great watching you guys see the joy in it. At some point try B/W. Would love to see what you create.
Haha thanks for watching! I’m certainly having fun :)
The Mp is the dream camera for me.
Loading definitely will get easier. You just gotta' trust the diagram on the baseplate. No need to wind with backdoor open imo. If I have suspicions if the film caught on or not, I'll usually load it, close back door and insert baseplate, advance a couple frames, then lift the rewind knob, rewind a bit to feel some tension and "confirm" that the film is properly on the reel mechanism. Can usually get 38ish frames 💪
I can only imagine what it would be like to bump into the 3 of you together on a street in London........Chudley Parsons and Fox.....sounds like a legal firm! I enjoy what you all bring to photography individually....and together.
That’s why we all met up. To discuss our new firm.
Thanks! ✌️
If considering a film M might I recommend an M7. Aperture priority mode would suit your style of shooting I imagine. I can switch seamlessly between it and my M10 they are so similar in feel.
Great day out!!
It really was, love days like this.
Osmo Pocket 3 is a game changer tbh. If they release a weather sealed one it's game over. Lovely video! The MP is the dream camera for sure!
When all you had was film, when I was your age, you used ASA 125-200 film on sunny day shooting and a film like Portrait 400 to shoot on cloudy days. It gives a nice color saturation in diffused light, like you get for overcast days. Yes, Portra film was originally developed for shooting Portraits (in ad out of a studio) it get nice skin tones, but can be used for general shooting, like street shooting, where you have a variety of subjects.
Cheers
I have the new M6 having sold my original M6 years ago. I tried the MP but did not like the rewind knob as much as the M6 crank, just easier to use. Safe and productive travels.
Interesting - I’ve been enjoying how the MP feels a lot, although the m6 is also great haha
Get the MP quick rewind crank 😉
are we not gonna talk about the casual drop of the couple in the phone box. that’s such an amazing photo just for some b- roll 😂🙌
🙌 Great video Mike, I love all the photographer cameos in your videos, you’re all having fun, which is the whole point. MP for the more subtle branding IMO, but take a look at the M6 TTL - the shutter speed dial is bigger, so easier to turn without looking and I found one with 0.58 viewfinder, which is great for 28mm/35mm. And please be careful with that bottom plate!! Enjoy! 😎
Love this mate! I shoot a lot of digital since i'm doing a lot of travel street photography videos and get completely trigger happy when i'm in the right scenario. But that film does hit! We love to see it. Thanks for posting.
Nice, I got a new Black Paint MP from Lecia in Mayfair. Doesn't get quite as much use as my M10M but is certainly my favourite purchase and will be the last camera I ever think of replacing.
I know it's on loan but welcome to the Leica rabbit hole. On a serious note. Love the MP and it'll give you a different perspective on shooting and the process. Enjoy it. Personally I'd take that over the MP.
Been absolutely loving the MP! really really really nice.
Really enjoyed that vid Mike. Esp. seeing the portra 400 film stock in action.. I reckon that shot into the sun across the river looked dope without the edit. Dystopian vibes or Gattaca vibes.
The osmo pockets a game changer and suits your videos great bud
Try over exposing Portra 400 a bit more. 2 stops over is the sweet spot I find, but you can push it further. If you shoot underexpose at all or try to bring back detail in the black, they can go a bit green, washed out and grainy.
Where did you get your film and scans done Mike? Great video and photos!
Blue Sky Printing in Chelmsford ✌️
I’m curious mate (as someone who has just stitched to film over the last few months for a bit), with your digital street photography, how to you curate what you keep and what you don’t? Film has taught me to slow down and only take the shot I want, but I really struggle with digital and knowing when to stop other than “I think I’ve covered this now”. How do you choose? Or do you even have a bunch of photos at the end of the day? My biggest hurdle is 5 of the same with very small differences and not knowing which to keep.
I love my MPI must say that exposure is very different to the M11 that you would adjust for the highlights. I’m finding that I’m over exposed by 1/2 to 1 stop on Portra400 but that could be just me 🙈
Cool video! Enjoyed that! I’ve just started getting back into film photography too. It’s got something hasn’t it! Are you more intentional about what you snap, shooting film? Big thumbs up! Btw, loved that shot of the face reflection in the bus window! 👌📷
Yeah probably am more intentional without knowing it but I try not to be, thanks for watching
If you think the MP is hard to load wait until you have to load an M2 or M3.
What I found loading film into my M6 is half cock the shutter wind and this holds the film on the sprockets. I know the system is fast loading, but it can from time to time, not hold.
Wow. Nice camera
Did exactly what you ckickbaited. Sold M11 and now MP and M3 only 🥳
was that Paul Harrison post cards in the photography gallery??
Wow was shocked when it was revealed the footage was shot on the lil dji camera. Honestly can’t tell the difference between it and bigger camera setups
such a great little camera. Surprised me already.
Hey Mike, where can you get those super short camera straps from? Cheers
Excellent video and beautiful images Mike
Appreciate that! Thanks
Your welcome
Mike, great video. I am interested in picking up a Leica M11. Is there an alternative 35mm lens that you'd recommend aside from Leica brand? I am an amateur photographer with a limited budget, so I will not be able to have a full Leica set up. Best regards,
Liverpool Kev here again...Oi ..'Foden Lookalike'...I was disappointed with your performance in Frankfurt tonight haha
they way you dropped the bottom plate after rewinding your film made me gasp out loud lol
M6 has the fast rewind crank, but the MP / M-A takes awhile to rewind - although there are some hacks. Otherwise, pretty similar shooting experience. But to shoot with both eyes open on a 1:1 viewfinder, try the M3. That M3 viewfinder is why some say the M3 is the greatest Leica & that was HCB's bias, but not Winogrand's. I'd give anything two hear those two have a friendly debate. Great video. Thank you.
Hi Mike, what’s the strap of you M11? Could you please share the link where to purchase it? Tnks
Cleethorpes, been there, done that, got the t-shirt 🍦🍦✌️
Some grate photos!
Thanks!
Get M11: AYY, I'm doing alright! Start shooting film: Aaaaand my rent is late again.
lol
Out of curiosity, because I’m old and had no choice but to use film growing up, how much is it now to get a roll developed?
@@rosvw3517 Getting the roll developed is manageable. It's the cost of the film itself that's insane. I don't know current prices. I shoot digital too. I preferred to empty my bank account in one shot with a body instead of over time with film lol
the made with AI is perfect lmao...🤣
just some fun :)
where did these photos taken? especially one startng after 9:53
Soon a M11 in my hand! Great video, is it a Bellroy 10L sling?
9L Bellroy :)
Fingers crossed you will get those rolls through the airports ok :) I have heard that most have the new CT scanners now but you will hopefully be able to get hand checks done... Keep it up dude, as always ;)
Just travelled from BCN to Malaga today and they hand checked at BCN all good :)
Hand check all the way..just throw in a box of tmax 3200 and they won’t argue with you
@@MikeChudley That`s cool, one less thing to worry about mate. Have a top time and look forward to the vids ;)
What bag are you using Mike?
Bellroy 9l :)
MP > M6
MP or M6 - whatever you get, you'll wish you had the other one! So, just get both and use one for colour and the other for B&W! ;)
Haha if only
What lens were u using on your m11. Didn’t look like a Leica…
Thypoch Simera 28mm
When people talk about the Leica look (on digital) and I see nothing but the same look as in Fuji/Sony/Nikon/Canon… (or even worst, what we have seen in your channel when we compare with the X100) I feel bad/sorry about people expending lot of money for nothing (except for Leica management getting richer). But if Leica makes sense, is on film… so you did it right, imo.
I noticed the Olympus Mju ii is very Now and thought,
Hmmm I had one of those, last century, and gave it to my brother when I bought the OM1n . . . . .
Message brother’s partner (because he doesn’t do WhatsApp) to enquire if he still has it (I mean what are the chances?).
Yes he still has it and we used it a couple of times last year and it takes lovely photos, did you want to borrow it.
- Nah I’m good and I’m happy you’re using it, just be aware that it’s now worth over £200, in case someone walks up to you and offers to ‘take it off yer hands’ for £100!!
Could anyone explain at 0:49 why set the iso to 1600 in daylight? Is that intentional just because he set the low aperture and super high shutter speed for narrow depths of field and less likely to get blurry shots? Or because m11 has dual iso one of which starts from 1600?
I’m on auto iso shooting at f5.6 or f8 and it’s cloudy so that’s why it’s 1600
Don’t let that natural softbox stop you from shooting film.
Please man, don’t throw the bottom plate like that. It’s a Leica!
Thanks for another nice video Mike. I feel that you are at a photography level where you don't mind me saying this. And this is just my opinion so take it for what's it worth. But I feel you are editing your photos a little too much, where the reds are coming out orange. As if you were shooting with a Sony digital camera a few years back. But you are "the chef" of your own images, and if you want that look, so be it. I just feel you are taking away a little of why a Leica lens has "the Leica look".
Mike you are charmed my friend. Leica as a Sponsor and let’s me honest pretty ordinary images you could’ve taken with your phone. Show me what spending £10k+ makes the difference!.
I'd love Leica as sponsor.
MP. Decision made.
Potentially agree.
first maybe?
Hello first
Tbf you could have got the same results with a disposable film camera with your style of photography and save yourself a bunch of dosh.
But that’s not as fun
The most GAS person on RUclips, Mike embodies everything wrong eith the world today... Would not be getting any views in it was not for Leica.
Love this comment. I got more views talking about Fujifilm - I wish you a wonderful day 😂
Man I'm having the same feeling with the OSMO pocket 3, I keep seeing people using it and now I want one really bad
Yeah I'm loving it.
Love this mate! I shoot a lot of digital since i'm doing a lot of travel street photography videos and get completely trigger happy when i'm in the right scenario. But that film does hit! We love to see it. Thanks for posting.
that's why I think I would miss digital. I'm very trigger happy.
