Love Kazu and his pictures - seems a super humble fella but he’s low-key building one of the strongest bodies of work of any photographer featured on this series - truly such a deft and subtle eye - look forward to buying his book one day - keep em comin Paulie!
He's different than a lot of walkie talkie shooter and seem to consider composite and situations more than running up on peeps in midtown which is cool but I dig his style. Go Kazu
I've probably watched this twenty times, and today I noticed something pretty amazing watching this. At 4:55 you can clearly his back and how the shirt he's wearing has sun faded around his bag and camera strap. True dedication
This guy has taken the best Walkie talkie images on the day that I’ve seen in the series so far. Thanks for sharing Paulie. You’re opening up the conversation for all of us to hear. Love from South Africa!
This was one of my favourite walkie talkie episodes so far. I love what he said about the difference between composition in colour vs black and white. As soon as his images went up on screen you could see it made perfect sense. Some great shots on the day too - the woman lying down on the steps was particularly memorable. 👌
Kazu's positioning and timing is so impeccable. You can tell he has so much experience not only spotting moments but getting in the right place and waiting to get the shot he wants. Lots of inspiration from seeing him work!!
Wow, a lot of great shots among his examples. IMO his B/W shots are much better than his Color shots. He's got a great eye for composition and framing. Well done. Thanks for sharing
KAZU!!!! love this dude and his pictures. Honestly, without this wonderful serries, I wouldnt know about half these dudes. You're doing fantastic work paulie, keep showing these fantastic artists off!
I'm watching from Fukushima, Japan the prefecture next to Yamagata. I use to skate and I've been doing photography job too. very happy to see Japanese guy on this channel. mad respect to Kazu san!
This series of yt single handedly got me interested in street photography and introduced a bunch of photographers I would never have heard of otherwise ❤
love the walkie talkie series! Would you ever consider visiting some of these guys home and document them printing their pics? I would love to see their set-ups, watch them print and scan and their thought processes
I love his pictures. It is so refreshing to see he gets all the elements of composition and timing, lights and shadows, storytelling. Wow! New York must be a Luna park for photographers.
Yes what ive been waiting for. Really wanted to see how Kazu is behind the camera, his pictures are so damn good. Him, Gee, reuben and matt are really convincing me to go black and white and stay that way for a bit.
Great title 'line of sight' the mum said to her daughter in passing. Hard to beat the trilogy Greater Atlanta, South Central and South East. Steinmetz is indeed a wonderful photographer. I'd love to see Kazu work outside of NYC. He has a beautiful sense of space in some of his photos made in the natural environment.
This guy is different! Kazu is going to be a legend for sure! I've watch this episode so many times, i always comeback for some inspiration from kazu! Thanks for this episode! We want Kazu part 2 at somepoint.
So many great jems in this episode... both in images and conversation. I think his breakdown of color vs B&W was really interesting, characters vs the scene.
Can't believe that I almost watched all the episodes of WT and he's the first that brings up Central Park. What a scene... I have never wanted to photograph street so bad since I'm binge-watching this serie. Thanks for making me feel wanna try new things and hobbys!
The tune the jazz band is playing about 4:44 in is a Sam Rivers tune called "Beatrice", if anyone is curious. NYC has to be the only place in the world you can hear a street band playing Sam Rivers. Miss that town. Great video!! Love this series, I'm hooked.
I've watched about 10 or so of these films and what I find so interesting is how all their characters are so different from each other but all are incredibly articulate in their own way, though are lot of the credit must also go to Paulie B here for his interview style and editing work.
When fly fishing, you attempt to choose the fly (decorative hook) that most closely resembles what the fish are choosing to eat at the moment. The fish are hiding in slower water (behind rocks for example) as to not wade through fast currents which overheats them or makes them work to hard. They are simply catching a quick glimpse of the fly (or your hook) - the one they are eating - and ignoring everything else. Without a thought, they pop into the faster water, momentarily, to grab it. What Kazu said about knowing what you are looking for in a picture must help so much with regard to your timing of the subject/light/moment of capture. I.e., "boom, there it is" (snap). That is going to be difficult to train for and something I really need to work on.
The first day I worked at a darkroom in the 90s the dude training me said "All photographers are assholes" well he was wrong about this guy. This dude is rad.
I love this series so much. Great work Paulie on keeping it up and introducing me and other viewers to different perspectives of street photography. Super inspiring and makes me want to go to NY so bad
Watching your videos on street photography is so inspiring. I can't imagine being so close to people and taking their picture without asking. How do these street photographers not get beat down and their camera's taken? Either way, thank you for sharing and inspiring me. Maybe I'll get my but out there and "give it a shot." Respects.
Back again, Today I made an amazing discovery in this video at 0:50 a woman walk by in the frame, she looked familiar. That's because she was ALSO in a walkie-talkie, in Trevor Wisecup Walkie Talkie at 6:55 Trevor Photographs her.
"this pictures will live longer than my life, so i think thats special"
this.
Love Kazu and his pictures - seems a super humble fella but he’s low-key building one of the strongest bodies of work of any photographer featured on this series - truly such a deft and subtle eye - look forward to buying his book one day - keep em comin Paulie!
A high IQ plus a good eye plus a good camera plus working a lot. A pleasure to watch.
He's different than a lot of walkie talkie shooter and seem to consider composite and situations more than running up on peeps in midtown which is cool but I dig his style. Go Kazu
He’s lightning fast
This guy has been a photographer for 3 years? He was born with a great eye! Increadible
I've probably watched this twenty times, and today I noticed something pretty amazing watching this. At 4:55 you can clearly his back and how the shirt he's wearing has sun faded around his bag and camera strap. True dedication
Which means you’ve watched 7 hours of one interview that’s 21 minutes long?
@@jankraemer3537 that's nothing I just spent 8 hours outside and took 2 photos
This guy has taken the best Walkie talkie images on the day that I’ve seen in the series so far.
Thanks for sharing Paulie. You’re opening up the conversation for all of us to hear. Love from South Africa!
Kazu understands the fundamentals of photography. He’s going to be a legend!
Man i am addicted to this channel
Photography is life and death for this man. Watch out. Kazu is comin' for real.
This was one of my favourite walkie talkie episodes so far. I love what he said about the difference between composition in colour vs black and white. As soon as his images went up on screen you could see it made perfect sense.
Some great shots on the day too - the woman lying down on the steps was particularly memorable. 👌
“When I read his book I feel like Im watching a movie” such a great line, we should all strive for that in our pictures
jeezz ... mesmerized at the amount of amazing photos he took on this walk alone! composition just seems so natural for him. can't wait for the book.
Kazu's positioning and timing is so impeccable. You can tell he has so much experience not only spotting moments but getting in the right place and waiting to get the shot he wants. Lots of inspiration from seeing him work!!
This comment!!
photography is like a diary entry. love that so much
Wow, a lot of great shots among his examples.
IMO his B/W shots are much better than his Color shots.
He's got a great eye for composition and framing.
Well done.
Thanks for sharing
My favorite walkie talkie yet. Really great compositions in his work and would definitely be interested in a book when he decides to do one
KAZU!!!! love this dude and his pictures. Honestly, without this wonderful serries, I wouldnt know about half these dudes. You're doing fantastic work paulie, keep showing these fantastic artists off!
He is the real real photographer who is coming a very rich cultural background which reflects on his work .. amazing , pure
his skating background helps so much
He moves so fast and isn’t scared to take more then one photo! I love it!
I love his attitude! He is amazing. And incredible. And dope. And he seems like a good hugger.
I'm watching from Fukushima, Japan the prefecture next to Yamagata. I use to skate and I've been doing photography job too.
very happy to see Japanese guy on this channel. mad respect to Kazu san!
I love Kazu's work and find it very relatable as an outsider in America. He's got an important perspective. Great episode Paul and Kazu.
Such a nice humble photographer, and he's good at his craft too.

Kazu has great composition and subjects in his photos, great story also.
Men your content its incredible. Im from Argentina, and today gonna get my first roll for the inspiration of this videos. Thankssss!
BRO! the shot against of the girl in the white dress on the stairs. Was a stunning.
Best Walkie Talkie yet, Paulie. Kazu, you have a way of seeing that reminds me of Winogrand. And why don’t more NYC photographers go to Central Park?
Kazu’s photos are absolutely incredible man!
What I love about Kazu is his mastery of the craft and his knowledge of photographic history. Bravo!!!!
Most relatable artist you’ve had on here yet. I love his philosophy and mindset towards the art. I see why you two hang so much!
well done Kazu, one of the best walkie-talkies. kazoo is so honest and inspiring. well done Paulie!!!
This guy is different! Kazu is going to be a legend for sure! I've watch this episode so many times, i always comeback for some inspiration from kazu! Thanks for this episode! We want Kazu part 2 at somepoint.
This guy is the real deal. Very much in the Winogrand tradition.

So many great jems in this episode... both in images and conversation. I think his breakdown of color vs B&W was really interesting, characters vs the scene.
I like Kazu’s philosophy and style. His images are great.
best series on youtube
I find it hard to believe the dude is only photographing for 3 years. Absolutely amazing shots.
He mentions that he studies the pioneers a lot and reads a lot, maybe that will help him a lot.
Can't believe that I almost watched all the episodes of WT and he's the first that brings up Central Park. What a scene...

7:00 put me into shock. That wouldn't have looked as good in color I feel.
Kazu is a very good guy. This is a great video
the sound of the advance lever is so addicting !!!!
Nice to see a guy that is super passionate, humble and talented. He is gonna make it in this very hard field.
I've watched about 10 or so of these films and what I find so interesting is how all their characters are so different from each other but all are incredibly articulate in their own way, though are lot of the credit must also go to Paulie B here for his interview style and editing work.
Simply put this is one of the best YT contents in the genre of Street Photography. Bravo!!!
I used to live there. I always carried my two cameras in my backpack. There are so many things to photograph there. It was a lot of fun for me.
wow, his photos are so so beautiful
Love all of these. Enjoyed Kazu's images and his story.
At last! been waiting for this episode for a long time!
