I love avant garde fashion but i’ve never been in a single scenario my whole life where i’d have to wear that kind of clothing. My area is too relaxed for all that so it feels kind of boring but at the same time i feel like that’s a good opportunity to switch things up for people around me
A few days ago I had to wear some garments outside because we were taking some pics, the reactions from the people made me extremely nervous and insecure, lmao. And yeah, it always good to experiment with some different type of stuff
So many good points. First of all basics ! are so important just having a trendy (only) closet is not worth it as you „have“ to keep updating it every season/year. I really like the point you had with specific items you‘ve built a connection with. Like a sneaker that you‘ve missed out years ago - that you really loved and couldn’t get for what ever reason, now sitting in your wardrobe makes it even more special. For me it’s a washed out grey oversized crew neck with a spiral print on it. It’s a vintage piece with great quality my dad bought in 2002 during a trip to Lanzarote. I always wanted to own this piece as a kid and last year He gifted it to me. 😄
I was always told that if you really wanted to look actually “rich” and fashionable, your clothes should look put together, but not like you had to really think about your clothes. So basically keep it simple
An underrated tip to try and experiment is to wear that piece whenever you’re out with people you’re very comfortable with. That feeling of familiarity (and hopefully compliments) can help you move that experimental piece into your permanent rotation
I remember always wanting Birkenstock sandals when I was a kid and finally bought a knock off pair in college and was ROASTED for wearing them. Like 3 years later they blew up and I was utterly shocked lol I'm not saying this to brag about being ahead of the trend but to support the suggestion you made about looking back at things you wanted but couldn't afford to find your style. So many things I couldn't get before I'm looking to get now, whether it's in or not.
Yeah there’s positives and negatives to not being able to buy certain items. Definitely glad I didn’t have money to buy LeBron’s/Kobe’s/KD’s when they were popular
Lmfao relatable, i first bought into birks a few years back and I went ham with the AZ,clog and even the eva foam one. I got them cuz i wanted something that last and comfy and also cuz im outdoorsy…needless to say I was constantly made fun of (in a joking way) by friends, calling them jesus sandals etc etc fast forward 2022 everyone owns a pair lmfao same thing happened to vans and arc.
Right! It took me a few years to be able to financially afford some j's and now that they're sort of trending in the mainstream, which is weird cuz everyone around me wore them growing up, it feels a bit odd. But I got them anyways!
@@yessica5231 that’s interesting, Jordan’s really became popular once I entered middle school. I’m sure you can agree that it feels so much better being able to now finally afford the shoes you want to wear.
Advice that I’ve taken that worked for me: If you can put yourself in an uncomfortable position and realize that there’s no real threat to you or your life, then you can build a tolerance around being uncomfortable. I used to experiment with fashion really heavy in high school because I was so uncomfortable with thinking people were judging me, and it changed my life when I realized that I was my main judge. I used to basically cosplay as Michael Jackson in the music video Bad (look it up), have a Mohawk, a lip piercing and wear weird shit like WWE toy champion belts to school, I went all out. Once I got over insecurities, I refined my style and I became confident in and out of fashion. I guess my point is, don’t take yourself too seriously, it’s just clothes.
I was so nervous to wear my clothes to school (British school non uniform day) I sucked it up and just did it. Never have I have received so many compliments in one day, my advice just go for it.
Took me all of my 20s to stop caring what others think about what I wear. It gets easier once people see you wear things that are out thee and seeing others wear the same online so you don't feel alone. Sadly that fear never goes away for many people and I have friends in their 40s who only wear t-shirts and shorts because they're scared of venturing into anything else and they acknowledge better dressing guys pulling more girls yet at the same time talk shit about people who actually do dress nice to make themselves feel better.
i’m from a small town (2,300) in Minnesota. It was very hard for me to learn to get comfortable wearing outfits that are really out there, because it’s basically unseen where I am. It’s all just about being confident and learning that no one really cares that much, and if they do, it literally doesn’t matter. ❤️
I love some styles but where I live I can’t wear certain clothes cause of the heat and humidity is insane, but I love my style but gaining some weight and trying to lose it since I need to watch how tight and uncomfortable some of my clothes have gotten, but I love what I wear if I want to wear a graphic tee I’ll wear a nice graphic tee and some cool cuffed jeans with some crazy patterned socks, I also recently started on the oversized look with t shirts and I in love with them especially if you have a proper fitting oversized tee with some Levi’s 501 is just money
True some people dress so well make your outfit that you putted effort and love pathetic in comparison however things like money plays a huge factor not everyone can afford expensive quality clothes and accesories
My person tip is if you really want a piece that's crazy expensive. Wait on it 2 years and then if you still want it get it. That's what i did for my SLP teddy but actually waited 5 years. Now i finally have it i cherish it and wear it as much as i can and i know it's something i actually love and not just buying into a trend of the time. £1600 well spent. In terms of connections to brands. I have a strong connection to Off-White as Virgil is someone i look up to. So now that it's no longer "in trend" the pieces i have i still appreciate and wear cause it's true to my personal style and a brand i connect with.
Great advice, I did this too n just hit on one of my all time FAVS. The cpfm ye must be born again hoodie, they retail for $400-500 in my country but I just picked one up for half price n now I’m wearing it any chance I get.
I'm come to the agreement with myself that I'm never going to wear straight cut or flared trousers. I hated it back in the early/mid 2000s and I tried a pair and literally couldn't fit it with anything I thought it would pair well with. Slim/tapered only. I also regret every Jordan 1 or dunk I've purchased because of hype. New balance/sauconys or Adidas are the brands that have the silhouettes I actually like and feel comfortable in.
That’s good you’ve found what you like! One of the benefits of hype though is being able to get a decent amount back reselling the 1/dunks. What’s your opinion on resellers?
I agree with the sneaker part, I will never own a Jordan 1 or Nike dunk, i don't like them they look okay on other people, my fav sneaker is probably airmax 95 triple black.
I had 2 pairs of the zoom air j1s thinking they would be more comfortable and they just aren't. And the resale is under what I paid even though I keep them clean. The dunks I brought the goldenrod and the red and yellow ones I forget the name of from a raffle and after 1 wear each and trashed. I've had a pair of new balance 1500 for 2 and a half years now and they are still crispy and a shoe I wear at least 5 or 6 times a month.
it feels so much better to get an "I love your shirt" of one that you truly enjoyed picking out rather than "I love your shirt" because it's trendy to wear. feels like a genuine connection is made with one and the other feels so surface level, that they just like what I have rather than the style I express.
Focusing on your fashion interest(s) is the way to go. Also, consider going as far as your younger sweg self and see if there were pieces you enjoyed wearing. You probably could incorporate them into your style now.
confidence is the key, really. we had a prom a month ago and as a woman in super conservative country I was supposed to wear a dress. But i didn't want to, since feminine fashion isn't my cup of tea, I wore pants and a blazer. despite getting mean looks from old women and men and some of my classmates commenting negatively, I felt sooo much more comfortable and confident. Just knowing that wearing dress would stress me and make me feel worse than getting ugly looks says a lot. Just wear whatever you want, most people won't even like you if you wore the most trendy pieces, so what's the deal anyway. Also it's kind of fun seeing people get mad over what I am wearing
i love the balaclava “trend” . i’ve always loved horror characters / heroes / villains - so dawning a mask makes me feel that childlike spirit also while giving off mystery vibes . i feel it’s very authentic to who i am , i just wish they were more practical. vintage is cool too but i’m somewhere between vintage and futuristic / sci fi . those balenciaga bat rectangle glasses shape remind me so much of the matrix / blade runner / cyberpunk type stuff …so although it may be trendy idk if i’ll ever let it go lol
I can relate! I recently got a few pairs of techwear pants with a bunch of pockets, buckles and straps and I feel like Neo from the Matrix. It’s awesome 👌 It’s a style I’ll always rock with regardless of trends.
the location one is so true. i remember you mentioned in a previous video how you don't see people wearing the hiking-clothes style, which is true, but with the new school year, i've been seeing many people wearing skii jackets when it's around 80 degrees outside 😭 i like the style, but there's places where it "fits in" (like, looks natural) and places where it doesn't... i live around the pacific area so hiking and outdoor clothing is definitely normal, it just looks ridiculous when we're still in the highs of summer heat
Weird stuff forreal, I love jeans and shirts, I start to like dressing older and in a more mature way, out of sneakers into boots and vests, something about “basic” classic fitted clothes makes me very happy and peaceful. But also there’s so many ways you can dress it up, get you undercover jeans + saint Laurent shirt
Hey mate, there are some things that I like to say, but just want to comment a few of them. As you said, I think is really important have a high quality (as much as u can) basics in your wardrobe and play around that, because not every city and not every town is a runaway and buying expensive items are not for everyone, avant-garde is fine, I really love that, but it only exist as much as many other people (like me, for example) just dont dress like that (and its fine!!!). The other though I got when I saw ur video is that I dont really think is to "wear what u want", I think is more "wear what u want to express", and I'm not saying that u need to wear a crazy outfit that represents something deep....maybe is just as simple as "I want to wear all black because its raining". There's so much things clothes can express about ur personality, ur mood, ur job or everything like that, idk, i think u can say what u want with that. Tbh, some ppl i saw wearing some luxury brands look like they just want to everybody know they are rich or something...is a good example of what i want to explain. In conclusion, thank u for ur video, it really makes me think about some issues around fashion and i love that...peace x
I try to buy classic pieces, so I get more value and usually safer choices. I also try to stay authentic to myself and to what I like. Doesn't matter to me if pieces are on trend or not. If I like it, I like it. If you are insecure with what you are wearing then that means it's outside of your comfort zone and not authentic to yourself. No need to force fashion for likes. Take it slow, evolve as a person and your fashion sense will evolve with you.
My fashion style is mainly streetwear but casual, not like the oversized, puffy look. I love to include my interests of nerd culture such pro wrestling, anime, comics, etc but seeing if i can put my own spin. It’s easy just to wear the anime shirt but what else can be done with it to help it blend into your look. I’m basically a new sneaker head but it’s a go to because they can be worn in almost any aspect. Streetwear is just very versatile to me.
That’s really cool you’ve added your own twist to streetwear to make it your own. I try to do that too with my interests. Any favorite shoes you’ve found being a new sneaker head?
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon Uptempo Scottie Pippen. I love those shoes, I haven’t worn em to death but the style fits what I love in the sneakers. Bulky and noticeable but can work how I like em to!
thank you for this. Been really struggling with changing up my whole look. until this year, had spend 5+ years in the same vans + straight fit jeans. so this was so helpful
All well said. You can't feel insecure when you give yourself approval and validation, not needing it externally which requires a certain level of self love and confidence. To me clothing is an energetic expression and creative outlet so I can immediately see where it comes from in most people, like you suggested the last thing you should do is buy fast fashion. Learn timeless pieces and classic styles to build your pallet on. Like a man once said "the clothes don't make the man, its the man that makes the clothes" so it all comes from within yourself as a person first. Be connected to yourself and your style will feel genuine, not faddish feeling needy like you're seeking peoples approval. Don't dress to fit in, dress to be you not the algorithm you're fed.
Buying vintage and thrifting has definitely become more popular for people trying to be sustainable, but fast fashion is HUGE. I definitely agree on buying timeless pieces. What’s your opinion on the future of fast fashion?
Great video! :) For me it really helped to ignore all pictures and videos where I could see what's trending right now. I even deleted social media for a while. So that I'm only influenced by the people I meet personally. It helped me to be less influenced by trends and to realize what I really like.
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon That's a really good question. I love too watch old movies and series and get inspired by there fits. I also love to watch Laini Ozarks videos, she talks a lot about what's trendy and what's timeless. She also wears some trends, but in a really mature and conscious way.
@@elinafee yeah I recently came across her channel and like her videos too! Any favorite movie style inspirations? Some of mine are The Place Beyond The Pines, Blade Runner, and a lot of Tarantino characters
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon I'll check them out thank you! I love some of the fits from confessions of a teenage drama queen, or the Lizzie McGuire movie and of course friends is a classic :) StealTheSpotlight made a really good video about movie inspirations
For sure agree with idea of basic clothing. I love wearing basic pants or shirts to let my new sneakers do all the talking. I make sure to only buy clothes/sneakers that I know I personally love and have a connection to the color way or the design
This past year I lost about 30lbs and needed to replenish my wardrobe. I brilliantly did so spending probably under $300 all through thrift and consignment shops. I’ve been a fashionista since high school, about two decades or so and so I understood the importance of the classics, timeless pieces. That’s a huge asset in thrift shopping while still observing trends. I still avoid labels such as Gap, Old Navy, Zara, H&M, etc. which you’ll see a lot of in your local thrift/consignment store. But if you know your body and what fits you right, you can make a killin at these places when you know what to look for in these shops, all for a tiny buck! Wish I could share the finds on here, but you’d really be surprised at the finds I’ve made not spending any more than $10 per piece that would hold up, if not better than any of the current “trendy” labels out there. It’s a matter of educating yourself on where trends are inspired from. Because more often than not, what’s trendy now is probably inspired by something from the past and probably collecting dust at your local thrift shop.
Congrats on losing 30lbs, that takes a lot of work. I totally agree that knowing where current trends are inspired from is key. That topic could be a video on its own. Thanks for the comment! Got me excited to check the thrifts this weekend
Honestly workin out makes you feel good in anything your wearing I feel like when I’m working out I generally feel good wearing clothes compared to when I’m not on my gym shit I just stop caring how I look. When I I’m on my gym stuff I could be rocking tee and some jeans with a hoodie and some chains rings and a nice watch and I feel like a million cause kg work outs feel like a million
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon yea bro when I’m on my gym stuff I usually rock a basic tee with 541 Levi’s and I’ll wear a jacket or a hoodie with a jacket or my Jean vest with two rings on each hand, one or two chains depending how I feel and maybe a watch or not and I feel a million bucks when I do, but like I said when I’m not on my gym stuff I don’t really care how I look cause I’m not out to my effort. But sometimes when you are working out you could be rocking a tee and some jeans and I still feel good to me fashion comes and goes but how you feel inside will determine how you feel no matter what your wearing
I'm from Brooklyn New York and live now in a small town called Perryville Maryland been living their 2 yrs. And I'm into tech wear and raw denim and only wear Nudie Jeans, Naked & Famous and Ralph Lauren. Other than that it's Timberland, Thursday boots, Nike and Jordans. But I don't follow trends. I saw every trend foam runners Yeezy shoes. And a lot of
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon I would go with Nudie Jeans or Naked & famous they are the best quality look on the website and look at the fit and if you have a nudie store or stores that sell nudie jeans or naked & famous go in and try them on. In person . They are worth the price I have 8 nudie brand new jeans and 2 Jean jacket. It's definitely worth it. Better fit and quality
Are used to spend a lot of money on sneakers until I stop buying them because the last you ever bought was the the air Jordan one reimagined and they were expensive and I was like you know what let me just not focus on shoes anymore and I just focused mainly on my style are used to look like a homeless person and I changed it up and I look a bit more nicer, clean up you know it it looks like I have an aesthetic to myself which I kind of do but I don’t but I like the clothes that I have and they’re very cheap to. It’s not always good to spend money on high brands and stuff but it’s always good to shop cheap.
Not enough content about this topic that isn't all about platitudes or super basic advice that doesn't really help in the end. I pretty much agree wholeheartedly with your take on wearing more stuff that represents you and buying less into hot trends you see on social media--carving a style that is to your taste instead of someone else's. I really hate it when I feel like I'm dressing like everyone else or when I feel like I'm just copying someone else's fit. And I think that, at the end of the day, yes, "wear what you want", but wear stuff that's actually meaningful to you. Why are you wearing that garment? Is it because you actually liked it or is it because it's hot and trendy? Think about not only your interests but your own culture, too. For me I've started to wear a jade Buddha necklace and sometimes I wear a yellow hat because it reminds me of my little sister. I've also been really liking experimenting with a variety of colors: green and brown is one of my favorite combos right now. These pieces were never reliant on trends for me to really like them, and I think that's what people should focus on. The pressure to always fit in with your clothes or things like, "What's the occasion?" can be really discouraging but I think a meaningful piece selection goes a long way for confidence.
Dress for your body. This is a great place to start, because it will give a person direction. Instead of blindly swapping trends, you can learn what genuinely makes you look good.
Ive always thought that people dont get CAUGHT looking at you if theyre thinking positively, if theyre happy to let you see them looking, theyre thinking you look impressive, good or interesting. If noone is looking, you might just look plain, I know thats fine for some, but Id rather be interesting 🤷
That’s an interesting idea, which I would assume is probably true most of the time. I don’t think most people go out staring at outfits they think are ugly like you said
I buy reps to get certain pieces that I can’t afford, Sometimes pride can affect your confidence into not doing certain things, everyone thinks you’ll get judge for wearing reps when in reality, no one notices or cares
I agree, I don’t think anyone would really call someone out in public for wearing replicas. Have you considered the negative affects of supporting replicas or does that not matter?
Loved the videos I watched of yours so far, really relatable stuff. Keep it up! I also just recently started buying clothes I think I personaly enjoy and are not just "cool".
Ime hardest part about fashion is finding clothes that fit you off the rack, if you're the in betweeners you understand. Pants too long, bunch up at the waist. Shoulders off etc.
Lol it could “feel personal when ppl judge my outfit” but, I definitely don’t care. I dress for myself and, some ppl need to learn that I don’t dress for them.
I think everybody cares what people think to some extent but I’ve given myself a lot of confidence by thinking about who’s opinions matter to me. 90% of people don’t care about fashion and dress like crap so I’m not going to care what they think, that 10% of people who like streetwear and appreciate the fits make it all worth it.
Did you ever make a video on fast fashion? I rarely ever buy clothes I don't like or don't see myself wearing atleast a few times a year. My problem is quality where a pair of zara pants last me years without showing wear while a pair of adidas ones fall apart in a sesaon or vice versa. I have no problems investing into clothes that will last but these days you don't know were you will get quality.
i used to think that streetwear was the only thing id be doing for a long time because if felt easier to do than coture high fashion, ut got bored and actually got hooked looking at runway stuff archieve stuff. If there's one thing ive learned its too learn and look at both sides, putting on a oversized t shirt that drapes below the crotch isn't it, you need to look at how something flows on your body. THat's about it looking for something that resonates for you means you really connect with that particular clothing piece, Its always good to invest on basic shit, it lessens the decisions you have to make when you dont wnat to think about dressing up, plus has this sort of ionvestment if you ever do try more out there pieces
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon i like the way raf plays with silhouettes specially with the oversized look and issey's play on textiles from the plisse extending towards the sports line, and prolly undercover's references towards films, shit brings collabs to a new level for sure. I think the importance in detail really is the point of what ive learned, towards seeing runaways or even archives, How a garment would look depending on the cut of the garment and the textile even how a pant would drape over a shoe or stack, even color combination. That's basically it granted i dont have the money to buy the pieces i can still change my wardrobe based on the things ive learned.
As a person that lives and Germany where you get stared at for every single thing , its really important to built that confidance . To do not care is the best thing you can do and when somebody complements you this should mean a lot to you. Fashion is a kind of art that not a lot of people understand and see , thats why other opinion from other people shouldnt be important bcs ''they dont know anything about the stuff I wear''
Fashion is a unique art in the sense that everybody is forced into participating regardless if they have interest in it or not. If you’re a painter and somebody says you suck at painting, you can’t bring their own skill into question because they probably aren’t even trying to be a painter. They’ll say “so what if I can’t do better, I don’t even paint”. Nobody can make that argument with fashion and that really helps with my confidence. All it takes is one glance at the person judging your fit to realize they have no room to talk. They’re all either people who just put on clothes to not be naked, or they play it safe and copy a style that everybody else is wearing because they don’t have a personality of their own.
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon By biggest tip might sound counterproductive, but dress up and go somewhere where there’s as many people as possible. Expose your style to as many people at once as you can because you’ll get every type of reaction you’ll ever get in a short period of time. I got a compliment or two, noticed some girls staring at me like I’m cute, noticed some 40 year old men judging me like I’m a weirdo.
I pretty much don’t car if they like my outfit or not, I’m not here to please everyone. The worse would be that they feel indifferent about my clothes I guess
I was in Denmark (Sjælland Copenhagen region) and everyone was really fashionable and confident in it so I felt extremely comfortable wearing whatever I wanted as well, going back to my home town I felt pretty uncomfortable in the beginning. Really interesting to see!
yeah visiting a truly large city also kind of opened me up, seeing what all these people just rock made me feel like i could do the same. i of course didnt pack crazy clothes but i felt like if i did noone would bat an eye.
This is a thing I have been thinking about recently. It seems like people who are involved in fashion culture in my school tend to think how others will view them. When in reality the people are more interested in themselves than you.
I’ve seen the same thing. Most people don’t care at all about what you wear. Worst case scenario someone thinks you look weird, but they don’t constantly think about you or bully you
Me watching all these videos (and loving them BTW, they are really interesting) knowing damn well I will still dress like a combo of Big Bang Theory and Supernatural, Sans the jeans, I wear chinos because they are heavenly comfy.
For me, my confidence boost is shoes, from leather to sneakers. Somehow my confidence boosted everytime i wear different shoes that can match with my upper wear of the day.
Yes!! This is something I wanted to add to the video, but didn’t want to make it too long. Having a fresh pair of sneakers always boosts my confidence to try someone new with my outfits
People get frightened of people looking at them cause they dressed different. When i stare at someone it's not because i don't like what he wears, it's because i would want to be as cool dressed as they are. So if you are afraid to show off your style keep in mind there are people who would like to dress as cool as you
Thats true but my choices dont Make me insecure because why would i care what people think of me i wear what i want and its kind of cool to know what some people think but only the worthy ones those who hate just dont deserve my attention i like experimenting and know how things work about the styles and trends that i like so yeah i like the way i dress and i wil do it no matter what
I have a bunch of clothes I trifted or diyd that are amazing I just never have a place to wear. I never go out because Im constantly working I dont remember the last time I had a day off and when i do get one I stay at home because Im still mf broke and cant afford to go out (thanx economic crists) so they just gather dust while I wear jeans and a t-shirt. Cant wait for school to start so I can actually feel like I look good again.
People dont really care about what you wear; amd that's a good thing; it provides actual freedom of expression. For 15 years I wore nothing but baggy cargos, a style staple from the grunge and nu metal era. Almost 2 decades later at age 42 I moved from the Netherlands (which is a fairly progressive space) to the Philippines; and I started wearing what I was curious and insecure about for quite a while; Leggings. I figured that at this age I have no time to waste anymore on insecure feelings.I simply make the leggings based outfits work for me - also in public and on IG. I feel good about the look, my wife and family accept it and it resulted in no problems in public space, save for the occasional stare here and there.
Thanks for sharing, even admitting you don’t feel comfortable takes confidence. I might make a video talking about body types/silhouettes in the future!
To me it’s all about what I like an what looks good I love Jordan’s semi skinny jeans an a nice jean jacket and or shirt sweater etc especially if it’s kinda business casual I usually look for shoes that pop out yo me that’s been out for a minute an are not way overpriced so to hype or even rarity same wit pants an clothes though my style does seem basic the possibilities are endless an I even find styles I never even thought I wade like an I also like bucket hats
Honestly I can’t say I get the feeling of insecurity while wearing something specific anymore, nowadays I wear whatever tf I like but I’ve been interested in fashion since 2018 and have tried androgynous looks one year in thanks to the slp aesthetic. It made me much more confident in what I like and rocking with it without worrying what people around me might think cus quite frankly, fuck what they think. Why should I have to adjust to their tasteless ideals
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon honestly its all because I started with pretty androgynous looks from the beginning so it didnt bother me if people looked at me funny or anything
Nope, mever felt insecure or anything for dressing grunge or the metal head outfits that i have, why? I dont have social media so literally i dont give 2 damns about anything anymore, at the beginning of 2020 i decided to just go ghost and its literally the best decision ive ever made
Bro, if you feel insecure, it's not your style. Instead of going for trends and hype, choose the silhouettes that you feel appealing and the colors, you trully feel comfy in, not how it looks outside. How it looks is important, but from personal perspective, how you feel, should go first! Cheers!
if u insecure about ur fit, its probably trash. i feel like a million bucks everytime im louis down, head to toe, prob cuz it cost a million bucks (not really, but its expensive)
on a side note, louis and dior r the only brands where ur not fully gettin bumfkd. at least the quality is high, not like balenciaga or any trash like that. hermes and goyard r of course amazing quality as well, but im speaking on mens fashion, mens clothing in particular.
fashion is ugly people cope. Chads can literally wear 5 dollar walmart Tshirts and own the room. Work on your body. A physically powerful physique allows you to pull off the most simplistic look and still look masculine and respectful.
One quote I’ve never forgotten…”No one thinks about you more than you.” People are far more interested in themselves than what you are wearing.

Go crazy 😸 it's your turn.
I used to experiment with fashion really heavy in high school because I was so uncomfortable with thinking people were judging
me, and it changed my life when I realized that I was my main judge.
Great advice! Thank you for the comment
I was so nervous to wear my clothes to school (British school non uniform day) I sucked it up and just did it. Never have I have received so many compliments in one day, my advice just go for it.
Oh that’s awesome, glad you had the confidence to wear it!
I 100% agree the people you surround yourself with make it much easier to dress how you want if they’re also into fashion!
i’m from a small town (2,300) in Minnesota. It was very hard for me to learn to get comfortable wearing outfits that are really out there, because it’s basically unseen where I am. It’s all just about being confident and learning that no one really cares that much, and if they do, it literally doesn’t matter. ❤️
Good advice, thanks for watching Miles!
Comfort is key! I love oversized clothing too
True some people dress so well make your outfit that you putted effort and love pathetic in comparison however things like money plays a huge factor not everyone can afford expensive quality clothes and accesories
Any recommendations you’d have to someone who has limited funds, but wants to build a wardrobe?
My person tip is if you really want a piece that's crazy expensive. Wait on it 2 years and then if you still want it get it. That's what i did for my SLP teddy but actually waited 5 years. Now i finally have it i cherish it and wear it as much as i can and i know it's something i actually love and not just buying into a trend of the time. £1600 well spent.
In terms of connections to brands. I have a strong connection to Off-White as Virgil is someone i look up to. So now that it's no longer "in trend" the pieces i have i still appreciate and wear cause it's true to my personal style and a brand i connect with.
That’s great advice! Love the teddy jackets btw, thanks for watching and commenting
Great advice, I did this too n just hit on one of my all time FAVS. The cpfm ye must be born again hoodie, they retail for $400-500 in my country but I just picked one up for half price n now I’m wearing it any chance I get.
@@doubleyoujaytee3017 nice, those look super comfortable!
@@Return_of_the_Dude those are a great everyday shoe. I use to not like air maxes too much, but recently have only been buying comfortable sneakers
@@Return_of_the_Dude Yeah I grew up on the air max 95. Got lucky in Prague a few months back and for 3 pairs for the price of one.
it feels so much better to get an "I love your shirt" of one that you truly enjoyed picking out rather than "I love your shirt" because it's trendy to wear. feels like a genuine connection is made with one and the other feels so surface level, that they just like what I have rather than the style I express.
Totally! I can relate to getting a compliment on my vintage Tintin tee I wore the other day
This literally happened to me today I felt so happy
Focusing on your fashion interest(s) is the way to go. Also, consider going as far as your younger sweg self and see if there were pieces you enjoyed wearing. You probably could incorporate them into your style now.
I agree! Any pieces you’ve picked up that you wanted when you were younger?
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon Thankfully I got pieces I liked when I was younger!
Once I got done with high school my insecurities with fashion was gone because In high school people would judge for what you wear.
True, that’s a really good point. Honestly even high school friends can make the worst reactions to your outfits if they aren’t into clothes
confidence is the key, really. we had a prom a month ago and as a woman in super conservative country I was supposed to wear a dress.
That’s great! Nice job sticking to what makes you feel best👌
i love the balaclava “trend” . i’ve always loved horror characters / heroes / villains - so dawning a mask makes me feel that childlike spirit also while giving off mystery vibes . i feel it’s very authentic to who i am , i just wish they were more practical. vintage is cool too but i’m somewhere between vintage and futuristic / sci fi . those balenciaga bat rectangle glasses shape remind me so much of the matrix / blade runner / cyberpunk type stuff …so although it may be trendy idk if i’ll ever let it go lol
That’s a really cool connection! I love movies so I can relate to wanting to relate to characters through fashion. Thanks for the comment
That’s crazy in 80 degrees lol, are least the sweats beading off the shell
Weird stuff forreal, I love jeans and shirts, I start to like dressing older and in a more mature way, out of sneakers into boots and vests, something about “basic” classic fitted clothes makes me very happy and peaceful. But also there’s so many ways you can dress it up, get you undercover jeans + saint Laurent shirt
That’s great you’ve found what makes you feel happy and peaceful! I think a lot of people envy those emotions with their own style

Glad someone caught that detail 😂 almost as clean as the infinity brim
Great comment, I agree with this! “Wearing what you want to express” would be a great future video

For me it really helped to ignore all pictures and videos where I could see what's trending right now. I even deleted social media for a while. So that I'm only influenced by the people I meet personally. It helped me to be less influenced by trends and to realize what I really like.

And a lot of
That’s sick, I gotta eventually get a pair of raw denim. Any specific recommendations for a first pair?
Definitely, there’s so many great affordable clothing options👌
Great comment, thanks for sharing your recent interests and what you’ve been wearing! I totally agree
Dress for your body.
This is a great place to start, because it will give a person direction. Instead of blindly swapping trends,
you can learn what genuinely makes you look good.
Great advice! Any videos or tips that explain how to do this better?
Ive always thought that people dont get CAUGHT looking at you if theyre thinking positively, if theyre happy to let you see them looking, theyre thinking you look impressive, good or interesting. If noone is looking, you might just look plain, I know thats fine for some, but Id rather be interesting 🤷

Really glad to hear this, thanks! Any favorite new pickups?
Ime hardest part about fashion is finding clothes that fit you off the rack, if you're the in betweeners you understand. Pants too long, bunch up at the waist. Shoulders off etc.
I agree! Even online with measurements it’s not always easy to tell how something will fit your body
Lol it could “feel personal when ppl judge my outfit” but, I definitely don’t care. I dress for myself and, some ppl need to learn that I don’t dress for them.
True, keep wearing what you like!
Yeah that’s a good way to alleviate stress. As long as it makes you happy who cares
I also would rather invest in a higher quality piece that I can wear for years. I haven’t made a video on fast fashion yet, but I have one planned
Totally agree I’ve done the same
Thanks for watching, glad the video came off as relatable!
i used to think that streetwear was the only thing id be doing for a long time because if felt easier to do than coture high fashion, ut got bored and actually got hooked looking at runway stuff archieve stuff.
Great advice! What helped you to learn the most about runway/archive?
Hier in Deutschland peilt eh keiner irgendwas und 99 Prozent aller Menschen sehen langweilig aus also mach dir kein Kopf ;)
Any tips on how you’ve built your confidence to wear what you want?
That would be an interesting discussion video on how everyone is forced to participate in fashion. Hope you enjoyed the video!
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon By biggest tip might sound counterproductive, but dress up and go somewhere where there’s as many people as possible. i love your vids man
Thank you, Leopold. Sick name btw, new video tomorrow!
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon thank u so muchh
That’s awesome, thanks for sharing your experience!
i have a hard time being confortable with what i wear because of my height (short) i feel like nothing suits me
Thanks for sharing, even admitting you don’t feel comfortable takes confidence. I might make a video talking about body types/silhouettes in the future!
@0:56 Blue Ivy grew up fast af 😂
Lmao
One thing is I got the Yeezy gap round jacket and I got a size that doesn’t fit me right now 😭 it’s too big for me but I’m only 13 I’ll grow into it
That’ll be a cool piece to have long term in my opinion! Especially with Kanye leaving the GAP, definitely keep it
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon Yea I’m gonna keep it I like the look just gotta wait like a year or 2
aye where was that cropped t shirt from at 1:28???
Shakawear, these are great for the price of $15! Highly recommend
What shoes is the middle guy wearing at 1:42 looks like jordan 1 but cant tell which colorway
They’re Nike dunks, but I’m not sure of the colorway
This is a good video, I'm currently going through a Avant Garde phase, I guess I'm finally dressing for myself, I have no trendy outfit at the moment.
That’s awesome you’ve begun really dressing for yourself! Any favorite avant-garde youtubers to watch?
Watched the video and I'm just here to say that I love you.
Thank you! Hope you like the other videos
That’s awesome, thanks for watching Davion!
That’s great you’ve been able to wear what you want! I’m aspiring to that level of confidence myself
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon honestly its all because I started with pretty androgynous looks from the beginning so it didnt bother me if people looked at me funny or anything
I feel like people are going to judge you regardless of what you wear so you might as well wear what you want
Why would a person allow someone else judgement effect there self esteem?!?
Nope, mever felt insecure or anything for dressing grunge or the metal head outfits that i have, why? I dont have social media so literally i dont give 2 damns about anything anymore, at the beginning of 2020 i decided to just go ghost and its literally the best decision ive ever made
That’s awesome! I think you’re right, social media plays a big role in pushing insecurities. This would be a great video
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon it does man, not only that, but it helped me becoming more mature and have a better relationship with my girlfriend
the people in 1:54 look fermiliar who are they?
PAQ, very good fashion RUclips channel that unfortunately stopped uploading
Bro, if you feel insecure, it's not your style. Instead of going for trends and hype, choose the silhouettes that you feel appealing and the colors, you trully feel comfy in, not how it looks outside. How it looks is important, but from personal perspective, how you feel, should go first! Cheers!
Great advice, thanks for commenting! Hope you enjoy the videos

if u insecure about ur fit, its probably trash. i feel like a million bucks everytime im louis down, head to toe, prob cuz it cost a million bucks (not really, but its expensive)
on a side note, louis and dior r the only brands where ur not fully gettin bumfkd. at least the quality is high, not like balenciaga or any trash like that. hermes and goyard r of course amazing quality as well, but im speaking on mens fashion, mens clothing in particular.
What would you recommend to someone who doesn’t have the money for designer?
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon hit the trenches and get a bag, until then you shouldnt care how u look, u need to focus on how ur bag look
@@nali878 good advice!

I have never felt more seen
Glad the videos can relate my interests!
fashion is ugly people cope. Chads can literally wear 5 dollar walmart Tshirts and own the room.
Work on your body. A physically powerful physique allows you to pull off the most simplistic look and still look masculine and respectful.
That would make an interesting discussion video on body types and fashion, thanks for the idea!
True I lost 20 pounds and I looked awkward in everything before now I'm ok.still need a lot to go
@@MyWifesSon69 congrats on losing 20 pounds! Keep up the good work
