After stepping away from TikTok before fashion peaked, I’ve gotten a good feel for what I like, how my music and movie taste influences my clothes, and how different pieces I already own can be combined and sewn together though my personal style despite falling under different styles or “trends”. Combining what you like makes it you, instead of combining whatever everyone tells you to like.

@X5J9 Yugioh player here, what u think abt recent banlist, u still like kash for best deck, or labyrinth, imo engage to 2 isn't enough to make striker t1 and Dino is 100% a sleeper deck, also, why tf is gazelle not unlimited, but engage went to 2, makes no sense, earth machine is nice, atm, I'm playing striker, going second crusadia, floo and danger dark world, but surprisingly the crusadia going second I have found to be the best, the fact u can break boards and otk every game means going second isn't dead and going first u can make a 4 mat appaloosa or just an avramax etc. Also, I think for decks with extra deck space, cherries is a super underrated ht, locking off kash from shangra-Ira and branded from mirror jade and spright from their link 2is kinda busted. Being chronically online is how those TikTok trends die super fast or don’t make it into the real world to be worn by the average person. The app tailors content to you, so if you start watching videos on the newest “trendy” piece that’s all you’ll see for the next couple days. You’ll end up seeing hundreds of videos on it before you even spot someone in real life wearing it 💀

I feel like fashion trends are a pleasant thing to take part in, as you get to discover cool new pieces or vintage/retro sneakers you would have been oblivious of if it wasnt for TikTok, IG and Fashion RUclips. But the problematic side of this arises when conventional consumers of fashion media these days constantly ditch their old clothes and hop from trend to trend in a matter of a month or so. That is main difference between taste and style. Everyone who can open up the gram or pinterest can be considered to have taste, but personal style can only be built from trial and error and wearing pieces that represent u to the fullest even if they have left the online trend cycle.

  • @pseudo148

Uniqlo and the occasional black/white basic shoe or pant from Zara can fulfill that need to have a basic for every situation, and as far as trends go if people want to follow the leader with everything they can stay forgettable as they just go through one obvious internet phase after the other. People recognize when someone is real when they see how they’ve evolved and not just engulfed whatever is popular each month. Good video.

Always thoughtful. Being always online is not healthy, I wonder if we are at the stage where people no longer how to actually interact with real people. I was part of the 80's electronic internet generation, and it was a safe haven for us outsiders, but for the last 20 years, the outsiders have become the norm. What good is the internet if it gets in the way of you having a good life?

    • @baby.nay.

I bet there will be a big radicalized shift toward being completely offline , especially if the privacy evaporates completely the way it’s going. Younger people already feel nostalgic for a time before smart phones… I truly hope I’m around to see this paradigm shift , it could take a while. People love doing things that slowly killl them, but we truly do need human interaction to survive

Peak fashion is doing what works best for you, your body type and personality. Essentially I wear whatever shoes I desire regardless of trend and wear clothes that match in colorways. Mostly consisting of black, but I have dipped into earth tones which I find pleasing. I love ralph lauren shirts and carhartt because they are simple but well made. I wear retro jordans, yeezy's, dunks, and crocs. I dont like baggy pants cause I lived through that era as a kid in the 90/s and early 2000's. Also being a parent, it feels weird to want to wear something super hype. So a relaxed fit, that you can wear daily without getting strange looks works fine. Plus I have locs and that add's to my style without the need to wear hats and beanies all the time. My opinion is I think the younger you are the more wild you can go. You dont need all your items to be luxury.

Will say it that following trends is a fool's errand you will always be behind unless you are the one setting the trend. The piece I own, thats: gotten me the most compliments, turns the most eyes, and that I personally cheris the most ever since I got it is literally older than me. Its a jeff hamilton world cup usa 1994 south korea jacket, I found it on NBA while trying to find a denver nuggets jacket, this one came up when I sorted to my size, it was 350 dollars everything else in that price range was way to big for me, I thought it looked sick, it was hardly used, I will love and cherish that jacket forever, its great, it looks great and it is uniqley me, I will probobly never in my life in a norwegian town of 60 000 people ever see anyone with anything similar and I love that.

Honestly just delete anything short-term content. I've done it and it just feels better since just everything fashionwise was just mostly awful or not realistic in any way. And if felt way better since. And just wear what you'd like. I wear some quite "interesting stuff" outside and even if you get stares and comments (good or bad) it just feels way better and authentic than anything you'd find on TikTok, also personally feel like a lot of opinions are less than good to a say the least, not saying I'm way better but just people are on different levels of their fashion journeys which is fine but I feel like loads of these algorithms completely destroy how ppl think,(example a trend which is cool and ppl completely advocate for and suddenly after a couple weeks when its not as cool start hating on it which kinda means your opinion wasn't ever genuine or yours in the first place). And when I had tiktok you don't really learn anything just most stuff infuriated me and got me so involved and torn and especially the braindead comment sections. Just isn't good for my mental health since I can't really handle it lol. I'd recommend doing your own research on products and then just like tech products etc go watch reviews on them and think if they actually fit in your wardrobe and let it sink in for a while before purchasing and pulling the trigger to see if you actually like it or not.

One of my biggest criticisms of a lot of these fashion TikTok-ers and creators (esp Wizdm, sorry!): I can’t take you seriously trying to talk about style and you don’t even venture outside in that stuff.
I can’t take you seriously knowing your wardrobe is 90% shit that brands are using/paying* you to help sell.
