+APC227 shame it didn't jump back to the normandy like it did at the end of me 2. shame this didn't play at the end of me 3 when bioware didn't join EA's debacity and indulge in the most horrendous bout of futileomania i have ever seen.
Makes me think of a movies ending especially when it shows the Normandy fly away I gotta play this again but I'm stuck on dragon age Inquisition with keep from previous guys
I remembered the exact feeling I had too. Like Shepard and the Normandy was leaving/going off on more epic adventures without me. That there was the possibility that we wouldn't get another Mass Effect game, and that would be my last moment with the game... But deep down I knew we'd get to come back to see this amazing universe and see my favorite crew members again!
@@ImIncluded166 I've been discovering them last year and damn, I didn't think I'd lost that experience if I didn't get into it last year. Always heard of this trilogy as a masterpiece, never had the guts to ask my parents to buy me the games (I was quite young, born in 2005). During quarantine I had to spend some time, so I checked these games. I fell in love with them, and the Tali artwork I have in my room says so. I'm super glad some people continue to discover this wonderful experience again. I loved the first game, the second was awesome, and the third was absolutely legendary to me. I don't know where you are in your own playthrough right now, but I wish you the best !
This feels like one of those "X ending if it was set in 2007" memes, except this is a good example. And not just because this game WAS made that year. Still a banger tho
This song makes you feel like you stepped into a large universe, and your adventure is just beginning. What happens is up to you and your crew. The fate of the galaxy is in your hands. As far as I'm concerned, this is the theme for Shep and the entire series. Nothing perfectly showcases what this franchise is better than this song.
I agree, right up until we meet the Starbrat and get that RGB Dogfart of an ending to the Trilogy. BioWare lost the bottled lightning that was the magic of Mass Effect - there was a heart and soul in Mass one and two that is now forever lost to the ages, never to be seen again.
@@tonycmac I really dont understand why the ending makes everyone hate the game. Everything besides that is still incredible. Makes more fun and has more creative ideas than ME2 for me (I love all games though). Yes the end was weird with the machine and all but you get a bit of a fix of that in Leviathan even if plotholes are left. I think they tried something and made a mistakes with that but I seriously dont get why the game gets hated because of the last 30 Minutes. It's so much more about the journey than about the end.
There is something about this song I cannot explain. It's so good but I can't tell why. This is not about melody or anything like this, it's just something more, something beyond that I cannot explain. It just fits perfectly to Mass Effect. Maybe ME 2 and ME 3 are better (more detailed, better shooting, more dynamic, more choices) than ME 1 but hell, I'm never going to forget my first mission on Eden Prime, running around on the Citadel with Garrus and Tali, disconnecting the Council, and the first Normandy where it all started. All hail SR1!
Abuyin ibn Djadir Mass Effect 2 is my favorite and I do think the sequels had better relationships and better shooting systems, and of course they were more detailed, but there is a magic to Mass Effect 1 that is not present in the sequels or in any other game. Just like the song, I can't put my finger on it. The world felt wider, eerier, and all around more real. I get chills from the game, and I actually feel it is the game where your choices have the most impact. Mass Effect 3, while I love, I felt the choices weren't very influential. Mass Effect 2, I think, is the most solid of them all . . . but again . . . there is something about the first Mass Effect that deserves its own throne, a feeling that no other game, at least for me, has ever managed to create. The trilogy is amazing, but the strength of the first game is truly something else.
Abuyin ibn Djadir mass effect 1 followed a basic cinematography formula, one thats always worked. the bad guys are winning, theres just one last chance to stop them and you are the only one that can save everyone... a race against time to thwart the evil plan of the villain, and be the hero, all the while looking like a badass, and getting the girl.
bblover45 I'll have to agree with you there... The others didnt have quite the same open world system that the first one did... I personally thought that was a shame, for it felt like I wasnt working as hard (if at all) for the creds or equipment, or even for the joy of completing quests like with the keepers or the league of one ... Now THAT was what made the game so damn great! For me at least.
If you're hearing this song for the first time, I envy you, for that means you're most likely going to play Mass Effect 2 next. I wish I could play Mass Effect 2 again for the first time.
@@lorikquiin6700 my favourite part has got to be the beginning. I remember years ago when I started ME2 for the first time I got goosebumps when the SR1 got fucked Edit: Just started ME2 now on the legendary edition and I'm still getting goosebumps
I first played the entire trilogy sitting on my couch an entire summer in 2013. It was right before the xbox one generation and I wanted to catch up on any games I missed. Didn't make it all the way down the list but mass effect was the standout. Oddly enough mass effect 2 was my least favorite of the trilogy. It has since grown on me since playing through legendary edition but I think I still prefer 1 and 3. This song was great though. Mass effect 2 didn't really have a good ending song like 1 and 3 did.
This game is still one of those unforgettable gaming experiences that only comes along every so often. This song is the perfect way to wrap up that experience.
Playing Legendary Edition and this is my first time playing the series. I AM HOOKED. After finishing ME1, after all that.....epicness, then hearing this. What a end to a game.
I remember buying the game in the store, not knowing anything about it. I distinctly recall the exact time these credits and song came on when I finished the game, and sitting there in complete awe of the overall experience I just had.
The perfect ending song to a perfect game. I still get the chills from listening to this amazing song. The first Mass Effect will always be an unforgettable experience.
walsh1916 Ahhh thank god. The game still lives on, sometimes it feels like as if you are the only person who knows about the game in the entire world. "Whats mass effect?" "A masterpiece." Only people who played it years back have the legendary feeling of the sci fi universe
I just recently fired up my 5th play through of 1. it's dated, gritty, raw, and so much fun. 2 is my favorite, but 1 had the most magic of the entire series.
I loved the first game. You're right, it had a special atmosphere. The sequels had you operating in "settled space" but the first one had you running around in batshit nowhere. You felt like you were among the first person there on the far side of the galaxy. The dialogue wasn't anywhere as good in ME1. But I can overlook that, and it didn't have any other faults.
I still remember the night I completed this game for the first time and I just sat there in awe.....then this song kicked in and everything was complete. I think it was the only time I've sat through a games credit reel in it's entirety. Shame I'll never have that first time feeling again
Then you realize that theres goin to be more Mass Effect games and i wonder "how the hell am i goin to beat hundreds, maybe even thousands, of Reapers? It took an entire fleet to destroy just ONE!"
I actually got up from my chair after listening to the whole song.... plugging my guitar in... cranking my Amp up to 11 and reloading a save so I could experience playing along with it... like one of the many amazing characters in the game! Truly, a life changing moment for me.
I listen to this every time I want to relive the nostalgia of beating the first game back in 07. I sat in front of my old CRT TV as the credits rolled and thought "this game was awesome...".
I have just finished ME1 and I have to listen to this song over and over again :) In a few years later I will have the same memories as all of you :) Best game ever. ME2 and 3 as well. PS: I love the ending by the way :)
MOo8996cz "Why would it be shit?" Because EA. "ME universe has so much to offer" So?How is that a point?Wing Commander,Ultima, the Quests,Dead Space and other series also had a lot to offer. As if that fucking mattered in the end.
Phil Tulk "Admiral Hackett phone call simulator" Nah.That perfectly fits the first game.ME3:Harby the Troll seems to fit that trainwreck a lot more. "which ME4 is said to have none of" If thats the case, then it probably means that they chose the "Fuck ME3" route. No conclusions,no answers,no butchery of the yellowed-eyed Galactic Emperor Starbinger.Just the same retarded cliffhanger, with a lot of indoctrination space magic and Shep in the rubble.I (and many others) have no interest in fucking prequels or other bullshit while the main storyline that I gave a damn about for all these years is dead. "I just hope" Neither EA nor Biotroll give a damn about your hopes. They proved that during the old Ending War. "it'll go all the way back and we'll experience the downfall of the prothean empire.. or maybe even as the Asari discovering all the reaper tech" Which would imply that the human race was around either of these times. That is,if the Mako doesn't get turned into the fucking Tardis. As if the series wasn't FUBAR as it is,lets mix it up with Doctor Who. "I just think they're making such a drastic and bold move" Correction:You *hope* that they are making a move.Judging from how the botched ME3,I honestly think you are overestimating these bastards.
I just finished Mass Effect for the first time. It was absolutely incredible. The amount of work that was put into it is astounding. At the end I chose to save the Council and the battle between the Alliance and Sovereign had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I'm about to jump head first into Mass Effect 2 with my Femshep from the first game and I can't wait to kick some Reaper ass. Also... Best Ending theme Ever.
Playing the mass effect games for the first time is a wonderful experience. They have great replayability but some times I wish I could just forget it and experience it for the first time again.
I just finished it for the first time too, what a fucking amazing game. I honestly found it to be a little too easy on normal mode, but whatever... the story, the characters, and the atmosphere blew me away. It's really like a work of art. Instant classic in my book.
David Coyle Yeah i'm watching the credits roll by right now. So awesome. The only thing that annoyed me was the pop in texture stuff. Other than that it was really good. Gonna play through again but in a paragon way this time. Well after I complete the other games.
This game has the most cathartic ending of any game I've ever played. I've probably beat it at least 10 times now and I always sit through the entire credits. I never do that for most games. Normally I just slam the escape key and get it over with.
Alberto Nunez The whole DA:O was just a Morrigan date simulator for me, honestly. Although "Witch Hunt" provided the ending I was satisfied with, the dlc itself was a half-ass product of pure lack of imagination. I mean even I have a script in my head that is 10 times better.
LYRICS: I have wondered about you Where will you be when this is through? If all If all goes as planned Will you redeem my life again? My life again? Fire the fields the weed is sown Water down your empty soul Wake the sea of silent hope Water down your empty soul Fight your foes you're not alone Holy war is on the phone Asking to please stay on hold The bleeding loss of blood runs cold And I need you to recover Because I can't make it on my own And I need you to recover Because I can't make it on my own I have wondered about you Where will you be when this is through? @ladyselin35 I don't think the lyrics relate to the game. However I feel like it fits well with Shepard needing all the members of his squad in order to complete the over arching goal
@@thebra9738 considering it happens in me2 and 3, they mightve written the story for this song. But again , its like Liara hoping Shepard to recover because she cant fight reapers alone.
Mass Effect is by far my favorite video game franchise, and this song sums up the trilogy in such a amazing way that I can't explain that it makes me feel so happy yet it also makes me tear up at the same time.
I like that this song actually captures the essence of mass effect, its a game about making friends to help each other out. this song makes my think about my companions who were by my side through every step of our journey
This game has been one of the best experiences of my life. It's one of those games that I've played at the perfect age, play it earlier I wouldn't understand and appreciate the characters and story properly, play it later, I wouldn't have the time to finish it. It's a game that marks you as a person. I'm very thankful for the Legendary Edition for letting me experience this masterpiece. ME2 and ME3 might be better but the feeling of discovery of the lore and characters of ME1 is something unique
I know that feeling dude, I discovered ME last year during quarantine, at the age of 15. The story and the characters gave so much emotionnal moments and company through this amazing journey during a period of isolation. Today I'm a real fan of the franchise.
Welcome both newcomers to the great universe of mass effect, i feel a little jealous, cause you experienced the trilogy for the first time with enhance graphics, and better gameplay, sadly EA removed the multiplayer of ME 3, it was really fun.
Cesar Montes Oh yeah, but it was like half a year after these dark times that I discovered Mass Effect. And a role model like Shepard and a story like ME is exactly what I needed.
@110843208878538921948 That was in 2012, I discovered ME in 2013 february. Trust me I not only have my head up but I feel indestructible. Right now I'm joining the army in my country.
I do the same, when there's something wrong in my life, when I get sad, I have to go back to the only trilogy that can makes me feel better : Mass Effect.
I had this habbit of skipping the credits of any game I played back then but I distinctly remember watching the full credits of Mass Effect back when i beat it, for two reasons, first one being the fact that this is one of the best ending songs to a video game I've ever heard and second was the fact that I was still having a hard time accepting that I finished such a masterpiece and could never experience it in the same way again.
Finishing up my Insanity run right now (3rd playthrough, almost have the Platinum), and this has to be the first game where I actually pay attention to the credits just for this song.
2024 and I still come back to this song every now and then... and it still slaps as hard as the first time I saw those credits roll. 4:24 will forever be etched into my mind.
Mass effect 1 had overall the most sci-fi soundtrack in the trilogy (at least in my opinion), and this song in the end is just amazing to complete the experience.
One of the things I really liked about the first Mass Effect is the 80's Sci Fi style soundtrack. This song has a little bit of a late 90's early 2000's vibe to it. But the music through out the game really reminded of the Sci Fi movies I grew up on.
Commander Shepard: STOP DOING CALIBRATIONS GARRUS! WE NEED TO TALK!!!!! Garrus: Can it Wait a bit? I got some calibrations to do. (Commander Shepard comes and try to talk with hhim again) Commander Shepard: Garrus... WE-NEED-TO-TALK. If you say you are doing some calibrations, i will kill you. Garrus: Can yo- (Commander Shepard shoots him)
So it's the end of 2020, and here am I just finished ME 1, moving to ME2 (for the what, 4th time now) And this song, this damn song is the best ending song of all times. Just a masterpiece!
I have wondered about you Where will you be when this is through? If all If all goes as planned Will you redeem my life again? My life again? At first I never gave this game a chance because I was a massive Halo fan, everytime I would see this game I was like yeah whatever it sucks halo is better. This summer I went out and bought the trilogy and let me tell you one thing I was wrong! This game is fucking amazing I have never become so attached to a character before. Every moment of this game was amazing it left me feeling all kinds of emotions. Im gald I gave this series a chance because it is now my favorite game!
I was the same for the longest time. Don't get me wrong, I love Halo CE through Reach and Halo 2 remains my favourite game to this day, but after giving ME a shot I discovered that different games are good for different things, and that there were so many great games out there I just hadn't played. After falling in love with Mass Effect I bought a ton of other awesome games and now I have so much diversity in my gaming library. Being a fanboy is only restricting yourself, ME taught me that lesson.
I wish I could replay the whole series with as much shock, excitement, intrigue and enchantment as I did the first time. No words will describe the impact this game has had on my life
One of the best game ending themes of all time. If you just listen to the lyrics in the song it just applies so much to the game and the journey you take with Shepard and crew. I came into ME late and a lot of my friends told me to just start with ME2 and skip the first game, but being a true RPG fan I had to play it and I'm so glad I did. It was like living in your own sci-fi film. Mass Effect 2 was an incredible game but I missed the true RPG feel of the first one. However the first two games are easily my favorite of all time. ME2 just had the incredible gameplay and soundtrack. ME3 was an amazing game but the ending was kind of "eh" though unlike a lot of people, I refuse to let it ruin what was to me a 99% amazing experience, though I still rate ME3 behind both ME and ME2. The only problem with this trilogy is that I played it in late 2013 for the first time, have replayed it a ton since, but it has pretty much ruined me in terms of liking any new games that come out. Now I have expectations for amazing story and incredibly well developed characters. Even the NPCs in this game have more development than most main characters in anything coming out now and I'm just let down by pretty much every game that has come out since I've played Mass Effect. Bioware has huge expectations/shoes to fill for ME4 if they ever make it, or however they continue this universe. I almost wonder if maybe they should leave it alone given how amazing this trilogy is. Also a bit surprised given all the remakes we haven't seen a next gen remake for it yet, which I would buy in a heartbeat to play the trilogy with better graphics.
TeKnoVKNG23 The entire series has a great soundtrack and as for your expectations it's good that you have them, because games should strive to have a good storyline and gameplay, not anything that comes out should be bought or played, we need good games not some mainstream stuff that everyone plays because it's new.
TeKnoVKNG23 A lot of people do tell new ME players to skip the first game, I don't know how anyone could ever suggest that. I just feel like if you skip the first one you'll be completely lost in the next game. One of my old friends (not friends anymore) actually went into ME3 first, and then after one hour of playing it he told me the game sucked. Now I'm a hardcore fan of ME probably done around 13 play throughs, so if you tell me the game sucks after just playing it for one hour then I'm sorry you can haul your ass out of my house. I always tell people who are new to the series to finish the first game before they past judgement on the game. If you didn't finish the first game, then your opinion doesn't count for me. To be fair to the series, finishing the first game is needed. The first game is very slow yes, but about halfway the pace picks up incredibly, and thats when you get into the game. I hated the game, but my brother told me I have to finish it before I write it off, so I forced myself through the first game, after about halfway I realised that this game was freaking amazing.
Chelaine King I was the same way. The first few hours were a struggle but then it was worth it in the end. I also had fell in love with FFIX after hating it the first few hours so I knew to give ME a chance.
I know no one is going to read this but if you haven’t played mass effect, play it. I’ve never played a game so epic and intense as this one. It’s a must play for anyone who considers video games a hobby.
Currently re-playing it, unashamed to say I used a console command to give myself throw as the soldier class because of all the things I had unlocked on the 360.
When I first picked up Mass Effect all those years ago on a random shopping trip I didn't realise how engrossed I would be with it. As soon as I completed it and heard this song playing, I knew then that I had just experienced what is personally one of the GOATs.
I played Mass Effect in a late age, also, I randomly played ME2 first, but after a couple of years I had the chance to play them all, DLCs included. Now, I can't stop wondering how those people older than me felt playing such a new and innovative game when it launched for the first time. I mean, this is not a regular game, one of many. It's a masterpiece, it's something out of the ordinary: it has innovation in narrating a story, a deep codex and structured lore, tons of things to do, exploration, fightings, wonderful dialogues, awesome characters and the beautiful chance to import your savings from a game to another, so that you can keep playing your own story shaped on your choices and meet old friends of the previous game along with new ones. I really wish I could know how it felt to discover such a masterpiece for the first time in an era where videogames where still new
+B.A.Krokodil She was terrible for special reasons unique to each game. Her stupidity and racism in ME1, her not being there in ME2 and shitty dialogue if you had romanced her, and her just sorta everything in ME3.
+Goku San I personally liked the fact that you could change Ashley's racism from ME1. I wana say there's some dialogue towards the end where she stops being bitchy towards everyone. I could be wrong tho it's been a while.
DupeDupeftw Pressly does, hers just sorta mitigates somewhat. The issue with the series as a whole is that it worked way to hard to be more PC game-to-game, and by the time ME3 came around, it was so bogged down by "production by commitee" that the quality suffered immensely, at least that's what I think, anyway.
Extremist Avenger one day they’ll be back on top. If they take time & patience to reinvent what Mass Effect means to next gen. We all kno Andromeda was a fail, I like it personally but not everyone shares the same opinion
"I Have wondered about you Where will you be When this is through? If all If all goes as planned Will you redeem My life again? My life again" Yes, you did - you spiky turian bxstxrd, you did redeem yourself & saved what was left of your life when it was time. *Holds back tears* RIP Commander Saren Arterius, The greatest Spectre of all time You have my respect, Shepard out. *Cries*
Imagine a mass effect movie but it’s about Anderson’s candidacy for the Spectres. Then the end cutscene would be the start of mass effect one then this song plays in the credits.
10 years. It’s been 10 years since we were introduced to this amazing universe. Since we first met our beloved characters. Thank you, good old Bioware. That was an incredible journey, one that will live forever in our hearts.
i stay with the mass effect 3 squad its so badass, javik with 50000 years of legacy, veteran garrus, enhanced EDI, mature tali, spectre ashley.. in mass effect 2 the squad is made up from a bunch of delinquents
DaJackPackCrew I'd argue that 6-7 person squad is better than a 12 person squad. IRL I can't hang out with more than 7 people at a time, I have to ignore some if there is more than that.
Thank you BioWare for this masterpiece. As a Si-Fi Fan (Star Trek, Blade Runner, Cyberpunk) IT blew me away. Epic Story, Superb NPCs, awesome Soundtrack. Saving the Galaxy instead a country or only the earth was so unique. I Had tears in my eyes when i listened the ending Song.
I can't replay Mass Effect because I love it too much. I am so attached to my first version of Shepard that I struggle to replay it with different choices.
James Gibson After hours and hours of discussion on the ending, I have to say I finally found my favorite, screw the galaxy show me that glowing bastard!
You will never again be cozy like in 2007 playing Mass Effect, Half Life Ep 2, Halo 3, TF2, COD4, Mario Galaxy, STALKER, Witcher, crysis, bioshock, uncharted, god of war 2, world in conflict, persona 3, crackdown, the darkness, etc
I remember when i bought the three games+all DLCs. When i beat the first one after finishing all secondary missions and the campaing this song starts playing and i was like:"The journey is just beginning". Best video game saga of all time.
Back here once again after playing through the game on Legendary edition. I remember back in 2007 while I was just a kid living in my parents house and played this game in the basement. Was the first game ending that I actually stood up and clapped for, god this song brings back memories
This is still my favorite ending song from any videogame. It still hits just as hard and it perfectly encapsulates the experience of the first Mass effect.
It's actually kind of crazy... (and 'it' might also contain spoilers)... When I first played this game (I must have been fourteen), I didn't enjoy it at all. Given, I had only played for an hour, and it was because my brother was begging me to. I stopped playing it for like, a year. Then, I encountered one of my favorite comics of all time: Epantiras's Mass Effect series on DeviantArt! I loved her comedy, and it was her that made me give the game a second-chance. So, here I was, playing on my own, without telling my brother. I created my character's face (and it ACTUALLY looked astounding compared to what it could have been (those kooky face-creators)), which is an experience I lost my first try, because my brother was desperately trying to get me to get into the story. I listened to a couple of the races' codex entries, to understand them, then started playing. I took time and talked to all of the characters before exiting the Normandy. I made it to Eden Prime, lost Leroy Jenkins, recruited Ashley, and prevented massive explosions! And I had a vision! I told my brother that I started to play it. And from that point, I was hooked. I went to the Citadel, talked to some politicians, recruited Garrus, found Tali, and I fell in love with both (I romanced both in Mass Effect 2, Garrus with my first playthrough and Tali with my second!). I proved Saren's guilt, recruited Wrex, flew to Thesis and recruited Liara (who I romanced on playthrough #2 with maleshep!). I flew to Noveria and foiled Matriarch Benezia's plans and saved the Rachni Queen! I flew to Feros and saved some humans from a plant monster! I traveled to Virmire and stopped Saren's army of Krogans, and destroyed the facility, losing Ashley in the process (but I still didn't romance anyone my first game.. whoops). After that moment, I was determined to stop Saren, the turian who was being deceived by Sovereign, the Reaper. I wanted to stop Sovereign and the Reapers before they had a chance to exterminate all sentient life. I go to Ilos, and it is there that we meet Vigil, a barely-functioning Prothean relic AI. It is then he tells us of the Protheans' last resort, their last-ditch effort to give the next cycle a chance: a mass effect drive that leads straight to the Citadel. And we make it to the Citadel on the MAKO, the CAR (so badass)! We kill some geth (somehow forgot to mention that they exist at some point, huh), we kill some krogan, we kill some turrets, and... made Saren kill himself through Paragon, baby! But it's not over yet! We face Saren's body, controlled by Sovereign. And honestly, it's cool but kind of underwhelming, but that's okay! Because we're about to make one of our most important decisions yet! To save the council, who are in danger of Sovereign (who have been dicks to Shepard and her crew the entire time) or to divert all of the ships to attack Sovereign directly. Of course, being the non-hanging-up-the-council's-calls-person that I am, I diverted human ships to save them. The Normandy gets in close and deals the final blow to Sovereign, and the Reaper explodes! Sovereign's pieces fly everywhere, crashing through a window and almost killing Commander Shepard and her crew! But they all survive! Everything, more or less, feels normal again, and I opt that Captain Anderson be elected to be the first human Councilor in the Intergalactic Space Council of Politics, Speeches, and Turian Fingerquotes *confetti*! And then the credits roll, and I am amazed by everything. And then I start up the next game and proceed to die immediately :/ But it was this game that made me, more than any other game, who I am today, and that is no understatement.
+Rehlaris I can indentify with that comment very much.Mass Effect is propably the most influencial piece of art for me.It is very important for me and I´ve got a special place in my heart for it.Totally agree. Though I like playing Male Shep more ^^ But in the end,it doesn´t matter what your Shepard looks like and who he/she is.What matters is the game and it is great.
Martin1538|Nr.1 Mass Effect Fan Yeah, totally man. I am still in love with the ME games, and even got my sister into the games as well, even though she made me play it for her-- but she still enjoyed it nonetheless. Mass Effect's always going to have a special place in my heart.
I know its 2020 and I'm a little bit late to the party, but I just wanna say this game was an absolute treat and this song made it all perfect in the end. Can't wait to play the other ones. Garrus is an actual dad too because he tells you to stay hydrated and I love that.
Legendary edition has brought back my memories of the first game i ever finished, the first trilogy i ever finished, thank you for the joy, the feels are home again!
I finished the game and I said to myself "what an epic game" then the credits song came up and that sealed the deal. The fact that the ending song was so epic and fitting it leaves you with an everlasting memory of the game.
nothing will ever compare to the feeling of beating ME1 for the first time at 2AM, getting to the credits, and hearing this song for the first time
Legit my first clear ended at 2am. I heard this and just started headbanging.
You speak such truth!!
Damn this comment is accurate lol
2am just finished ME 1 for the first time , incredible
Same here! Listened to the whole thing start 2 finish! 🎉🎉🎉
This is how you end a game.
+APC227 yup this one of my fav eding songs
+APC227 shame it didn't jump back to the normandy like it did at the end of me 2. shame this didn't play at the end of me 3 when bioware didn't join EA's debacity and indulge in the most horrendous bout of futileomania i have ever seen.

Dude, just enjoy what you got
APC227 hands down best game trilogy of all time
Makes me think of a movies ending especially when it shows the Normandy fly away I gotta play this again but I'm stuck on dragon age Inquisition with keep from previous guys
Hearing this theme again in the Legendary edition after all these years is hitting me hard. Absolute chills.
Same here. The last time I listened to this was 2015, when I beat it, and after so long it felt really good.
I still remember the first time completing Mass Effect and then this theme hits from outta nowhere.... damn near imprinted into my memory
Never played the game.
same here! been binge listening to this since I re-finished ME1 on sunday night.
To all the first time listeners during the credits of the Legendary Edition... *welcome*
First time playing the mass effect games and man I loved the first one! On to the 2nd
@@ImIncluded166
Oh man I wish I could experience these games again for the first time lol. Enjoy it!
Glad to be here. :]
I can' believe I didn't touch mass effect until the legendary edition came out.
I love it! Except for the Mako 😅
Ah yes, "Reapers".
We have dismissed that claim.
Thaal Sinestro
Thaal Sinestro Reapers are bad hombres.
Oh man, I can practically see the air quotes.

Ah yes, "Andromeda".

This feels like an ending to a movie and made the game much better

I finished this game yesterday... IT... WAS... FUCKING... EPIC...
wait until you play part 2
tsunami770 but don't get excited about the part 3 finale..
Even with that ending it is still arguably the finest trilogy of its kind but I know... I too was like.. WTF?
i know right!, i love the lore of mass effect it's so sad that the first i that comes to my head is that freaking shitty ending
tsunami770 The ending was so bad with the third game. Ruined the series a little bit for me.
This song made the game 10x better, it was like an ending to an unforgettable movie. All hail SR1!
Rest in piece girl
This feels like one of those "X ending if it was set in 2007" memes, except this is a good example. And not just because this game WAS made that year. Still a banger tho
Saints Row?
@@hypnosis0693 rest in pieces
Better than any movie!
This song makes you feel like you stepped into a large universe, and your adventure is just beginning.
What happens is up to you and your crew. The fate of the galaxy is in your hands.
As far as I'm concerned, this is the theme for Shep and the entire series. Nothing perfectly showcases what this franchise is better than this song.
wow best comment i've ever read
Agree 110%
This is "Sci-Fi adventure" the song
Abuyin ibn Djadir nostalgic huh? ;) You represent me, I'll vote you for the council!
Abuyin ibn Djadir no way are me 2 and 3 better than 1
If you're hearing this song for the first time, I envy you, for that means you're most likely going to play Mass Effect 2 next. I wish I could play Mass Effect 2 again for the first time.
Best part of 2 is pushing around Batarians in Omega.
@@lorikquiin6700 my favourite part has got to be the beginning. I remember years ago when I started ME2 for the first time I got goosebumps when the SR1 got fucked
Edit: Just started ME2 now on the legendary edition and I'm still getting goosebumps
@@kevinkapinga2908 2 is awesome! im going to Ferros on part 1. Mine took all day to unpack.
2's intro and ending are insane
I first played the entire trilogy sitting on my couch an entire summer in 2013. It was right before the xbox one generation and I wanted to catch up on any games I missed. Didn't make it all the way down the list but mass effect was the standout. Oddly enough mass effect 2 was my least favorite of the trilogy. It has since grown on me since playing through legendary edition but I think I still prefer 1 and 3. This song was great though. Mass effect 2 didn't really have a good ending song like 1 and 3 did.
Garrus and Wrex were with me during the final battle. Seeing Shepard emerge from the wreckage was so awesome. I love this game and this song
Wrex in ME1 is a beast, in the hardest setting is one of the best companions.
It was personal for those two and Shepard
@@vagrantxiiyeah his shotgun with exsplosive bullets are beast

This game is still one of those unforgettable gaming experiences that only comes along every so often. This song is the perfect way to wrap up that experience.
Another for me is the first time stepping out of the vault in fallout 3 with the sun blinding you for a moment.
Love the little epic bits in games
Playing Legendary Edition and this is my first time playing the series. I AM HOOKED. After finishing ME1, after all that.....epicness, then hearing this. What a end to a game.
Shockingly I started with ME3 with no add ons
I was missing out
Then the opening cinematic of me2 with the blood drip was 👌👌👌👌👌
I'm a year late to your comment but welcome! This fandom is awesome. Lol
I remember buying the game in the store, not knowing anything about it. I distinctly recall the exact time these credits and song came on when I finished the game, and sitting there in complete awe of the overall experience I just had.
Late to the welcome party by a lot… But welcome.
I love how this song and game are homages to 80's sci-fi films. This song even has that 80's New Wave feel to it. I'm loving every second of it.
Thats exactly what i wanted to say. A type of a song i would hear in gta vice city radio or in 80s movies
the synth feels like a moog, like a straight golan globus picture.
The perfect ending song to a perfect game. I still get the chills from listening to this amazing song. The first Mass Effect will always be an unforgettable experience.
Agreed. I'm playing through it on Back compatible on XB1 cuz I loved it.
+LToxGaming saaame ive beat the trilogy twice im now on my third play through and just starting ME1 by far my favorite game series.
Even right now im doing the same thing... someone has to get back to me in another 2 years right?
@@Spartan-ek8ih LOL, how about two weeks. Playing through the trilogy again after several years, just beat the 1st game. What a masterpiece.
walsh1916 Ahhh thank god. The game still lives on, sometimes it feels like as if you are the only person who knows about the game in the entire world. "Whats mass effect?" "A masterpiece." Only people who played it years back have the legendary feeling of the sci fi universe
Mass Effect forever.
Still playing sometimes, can't stop, these games are too awesome
I just recently fired up my 5th play through of 1. it's dated, gritty, raw, and so much fun. 2 is my favorite, but 1 had the most magic of the entire series.
Forever indeed.
You're... Pretty good.
War has changed.
I know everyone complains about the first game, but it will always be my favourite. It had an atmosphere and pace that was lost in the sequels.
+OmegaManJon I love the story and game play so much more even thought I'm about half way through ME2
Nobody complains about the first game...
@@Buttington_Headerson Yes they do, many people say it feels clunky and unpolished. And that an N7 can't properly hold still a sniper rifle.
@@TheJosep70 but the story is perfect.
I still remember the night I completed this game for the first time and I just sat there in awe.....then this song kicked in and everything was complete. I think it was the only time I've sat through a games credit reel in it's entirety.
Shame I'll never have that first time feeling again
It truly is a once in a lifetime experience but I am glad that we went trough it
I got the same in Bioshock Infinite.
I've probably listened to this song about 500 times, more than that easily.
I can't be the only one, right?
Not at all, fellow Commander.
I listen to this every time I want to relive the nostalgia of beating the first game back in 07. I sat in front of my old CRT TV as the credits rolled and thought "this game was awesome...".
me too, its on a lot of my playlists
This song takes me back :')
I have just finished ME1 and I have to listen to this song over and over again :) In a few years later I will have the same memories as all of you :) Best game ever. ME2 and 3 as well. PS: I love the ending by the way :)

He makes me proud to be Turian.

Phil Tulk Why would it be shit? ME universe has so much to offer
MOo8996cz "Why would it be shit?"
Because EA.
"ME universe has so much to offer"
So?How is that a point?Wing Commander,Ultima, the Quests,Dead Space and other series also had a lot to offer. As if that fucking mattered in the end.
Phil Tulk "Admiral Hackett phone call simulator"
Nah.That perfectly fits the first game.ME3:Harby the Troll seems to fit that trainwreck a lot more.
"which ME4 is said to have none of"
If thats the case, then it probably means that they chose the "Fuck ME3" route.
"I just hope"
Neither EA nor Biotroll give a damn about your hopes. They proved that during the old Ending War.
"it'll go all the way back and we'll experience the downfall of the prothean empire.. or maybe even as the Asari discovering all the reaper tech"
Which would imply that the human race was around either of these times. That is,if the Mako doesn't get turned into the fucking Tardis. As if the series wasn't FUBAR as it is,lets mix it up with Doctor Who.
"I just think they're making such a drastic and bold move"
Correction:You *hope* that they are making a move.Judging from how the botched ME3,I honestly think you are overestimating these bastards.
Commander Shepard: "Hi I'm commander Shepard and this is my favourite sondtrack on the Internet"

How did you enjoy 2 and 3 in the end?
David Coyle Yeah i'm watching the credits roll by right now. So awesome. The only thing that annoyed me was the pop in texture stuff. Other than that it was really good. Gonna play through again but in a paragon way this time. Well after I complete the other games.
Amanda Stahle Yeah you become WAY to OP in the end....nothing can really stop you.

Samus Aran Hey Samus how are you?
Commander Shepard My clone !!! Get out of my ship
Commander Shepard It's Shepard the Ladykiller! Good to see you again.
This game has the most cathartic ending of any game I've ever played. I've probably beat it at least 10 times now and I always sit through the entire credits. I never do that for most games. Normally I just slam the escape key and get it over with.
I like the ending o Dragon Age Origins better. I felt like my heart was going to rip when Morrigan left without a word.
Alberto Nunez
Yeah, that's why I stormed through the "Witch Hunt" right after the ending - cause I needed closure with Morrigan.
Alexander MacLean Haha, me too. I thought it was going to end like that then I saw the dlc and I went omg.
Alberto Nunez
The whole DA:O was just a Morrigan date simulator for me, honestly.
Although "Witch Hunt" provided the ending I was satisfied with, the dlc itself was a half-ass product of pure lack of imagination. I mean even I have a script in my head that is 10 times better.
I liked Awakening and Witch Hunt, but that Dwarf one was boring.
First time in my life i watched whole end credits ! :D

This game has been one of the best experiences of my life.

One of the things I really liked about the first Mass Effect is the 80's Sci Fi style soundtrack. This song has a little bit of a late 90's early 2000's vibe to it. But the music through out the game really reminded of the Sci Fi movies I grew up on.

when i first finished ME1 i realized i just played the best game in the history of man kind
I felt the same.
Saren and Sovereign: "Why do I hear boss music?"
The ending instrumental is so freaking awesome.

Well, EA _SUCKS,_ as I've said since at least 1999. Wadjaspec?
@@chelainevandyk9994 -- Learning the best sniper weapon in the game was on the *MAKO* saved *_'MASS EFFECT'_* for me.
“Well, what about Shepard?”
I know no one is going to read this but if you haven’t played mass effect, play it. I’ve never played a game so epic and intense as this one. It’s a must play for anyone who considers video games a hobby.
I have this August, l played it for the first time and l had a great time with all 3 games, my favorite crew is always going to be Liara and Garrus.
I read this and I agree. Even for people who are new to gaming. Tali/Liara and femshep for me
Currently re-playing it, unashamed to say I used a console command to give myself throw as the soldier class because of all the things I had unlocked on the 360.
I'm glad you had the same experience as myself!
Just finished the first game, never played the franchise before, absolutely amazing game
I can’t believe this vid was loaded 13 and a half years ago
I really wish I could know how it felt to discover such a masterpiece for the first time in an era where videogames where still new
I'll be waiting for you Mass Effect.
I waiting for good mass effect.😀(Not andromeda.)
That moment when ashley looks hot but then she removes her helmet and starts talking.
+Goku San She entertained me to the point where I left Alenko on Virmire.
Joshua Derr I did too, but mostly because the game expects you to leave Alenko on Virmire
Всегда проливаю мужскую скупую настольгическую слезу , когда слушаю эту неописуемо прекрасную композицию .
Эхх
Damn, I wish we could go back to these days Bioware.
Extremist Avenger one day they’ll be back on top. If they take time & patience to reinvent what Mass Effect means to next gen. We all kno Andromeda was a fail, I like it personally but not everyone shares the same opinion
Mass Effect is the Star Wars of videogames, it's our space opera
I hope someday they will make a movie of quality no worse than 1-3 episodes of Star Wars
@@СтаниславМинаков-е1ъmaybe in another 10 years.... once we millenials are older! Lmao
I don't even remember when I played mass effect 1, but it's 2015 and I keep coming back to this fucking song.
Such brilliant creation, I am in awe.
+Brandon Bajin Time to play it again then
"I
Have wondered about you
Where will you be
When this is through?
If all
If all goes as planned
Will you redeem
My life again?
My life again"
Yes, you did - you spiky turian bxstxrd, you did redeem yourself & saved what was left of your life when it was time.
*Holds back tears*
RIP Commander Saren Arterius,
The greatest Spectre of all time
You have my respect,
Shepard out.
*Cries*
I just finished Mass Effect for the first time in 2020....That song was PERFECT for the end.
That was an incredible journey, one that will live forever in our hearts.
mass effect = best atmosphere
mass effect 2 = best story development
mass effect 3 = best gameplay
ME2 had the worst story development. Pretty much the worst plot out of the 3 :/
Squadmate missions were cool though. The team was ME2.
Mass effect 2 had the best squadmates. The roster for mass effect 3 was shorter and had less crew members.
i stay with the mass effect 3 squad its so badass, javik with 50000 years of legacy, veteran garrus, enhanced EDI, mature tali, spectre ashley.. in mass effect 2 the squad is made up from a bunch of delinquents
DaJackPackCrew I'd argue that 6-7 person squad is better than a 12 person squad.
IRL I can't hang out with more than 7 people at a time, I have to ignore some if there is more than that.
Dementcha Mordin tho.
Зацепила эта тема много лет назад,до сих пор не отпускает!!
Уже 11 лет не отпускает)
И меня
Thank you BioWare for this masterpiece. As a Si-Fi Fan (Star Trek, Blade Runner, Cyberpunk) IT blew me away. Epic Story, Superb NPCs, awesome Soundtrack. Saving the Galaxy instead a country or only the earth was so unique. I Had tears in my eyes when i listened the ending Song.
1:30 EMPTY SOUL!!!???? Does that mean that this unit doesn't have a soul? /0|
Sorry...Keelah Se'Lai
It always had a soul. The question is the answer.
your not dead?
So... me give me a good reason why you shouldn't replay Mass Effect for the millionth time...
*heavy cough
that's right, none.
god damnit faunts
James Gibson I know that effect... got over it eventually but late
I can't replay Mass Effect because I love it too much. I am so attached to my first version of Shepard that I struggle to replay it with different choices.
James Gibson try MEHEM mod, obviously if you have the games on PC...
James Gibson After hours and hours of discussion on the ending, I have to say I finally found my favorite, screw the galaxy show me that glowing bastard!
***** Then play as that Shepard agian.
I love this track! So mysterious and relaxing at the same time.
I remember when i bought the three games+all DLCs. When i beat the first one after finishing all secondary missions and the campaing this song starts playing and i was like:"The journey is just beginning". Best video game saga of all time.
Best Mass Effect game by far. ME1 > ME2 > ME3
I love them all.
SantaClawZ Likewise, the games are excellent, just that last 0.01% of the last...
***** yeah
Guilty Bystander true
ehh i liked 2 the best
Back here once again after playing through the game on Legendary edition. I remember back in 2007 while I was just a kid living in my parents house and played this game in the basement. Was the first game ending that I actually stood up and clapped for, god this song brings back memories
Always liked how ME1 had a hopeful ending and then suddenly in ME2's opening Shep dies and the Normandy is destroyed
Yep, just beated ME1 for the first time and that final mission + this end credits song... gosh i wish i could've play this game back in the day.
And then I start up the next game and proceed to die immediately :/
But it was this game that made me, more than any other game, who I am today, and that is no understatement.
Rehlaris Yes,in mine too.I hope Andromeda will also take a place in it.I got faith in BioWare but not in EA.Let´s hope they won´t screw it up.
cool story bro
Everyone else already said it, but one more time--This song completed the game for me and made the whole experience worthy of badassery!
I know its 2020 and I'm a little bit late to the party, but I just wanna say this game was an absolute treat and this song made it all perfect in the end. Can't wait to play the other ones. Garrus is an actual dad too because he tells you to stay hydrated and I love that.
I've listened to this dozens of times on my drive home from work and its always great to wind down to, thanks for uploading it.
Oh look it's me from the past, you should have invested in Bitcoin...
Love ya lots!
The song fits so much of the soundtrack of the whole game. It's perfect
An epic song for an epic game. ME1 FTW!!!
Years later this song still gives me chills.
