      As an architectural designer, who strictly follows the "form follows function" ethos - this was pure boat porn for me...! (And I'm not even a huge fan of sailing vessels!)
      You had me at 'no A/C'... "You're not going to need A/C where we're going... Heat? Yeah, you'll need that."
      Where are the TVs...?!? Why no Italian designer cushions...?!? "We don't need no stickin' designers...!"
      Great vessel... Great tour Nick...! Cheers mate.

    A gift. A rare treat. A "Come look at this" moment. Nick, to get a personal tour, on such a yacht demonstrates your depth in the "community". As to he boat - at times on the tour I'd think "but what about this or that" then there it would be. The boat has everything - not just safety, but comfort as well. Lots of different places to "tuck yourself away". Thank you Nick. Thank you for sharing. And yes - STUNNING BOAT. The dreams ARE being nurtured.

Galley looked pretty good too. With only 4 crew, they must all have multiple jobs. How do you find people with those skills? Someone who can cook a 3-course meal and plot a course to Antarctica! What a beast! The most amazing thing I heard was the setup that forces a makeshift rotation through the mechanical space. That's thinking that comes from decades of experience. As Nick would say...Brilliant!

    What a very well built expedition boat. I love the pilot house for cold weather navigation. plan on sailing up the west coast from San Diego to explore B.C.s inner passage and hopefully Alaska. I’m still 2-3 years away but am looking at a 50ft pilot house next week.

    Unfortunately there is only one like button...so pressing it twice does not help. Huge video! Great job! To see something I didn't even know existed (sail-boat for the far south) and have it explained by someone who knows it to the nuts and bolts is amazing. Thank you Nick! Best spent half an hour! If you were to repay "Yachts for sale" favor where in one of his recent videos says "you won't see something like this on "Aquaholic", well I'm sure we won't see this kind of boat in his videos...

    This boat is so utilitarian, it makes a Nordhaven look like a gold plated palace!

    • @ike1660
      @ike1660 3 года назад +1

      Compared to this, a Nordhaven is just a luxury yacht with some 'expedition' sauce drizzled on it.

    • @rykehuss3435
      @rykehuss3435 3 года назад

      @@ike1660 And yet Nordhavns cross oceans all the time. Its the only production motor yacht that really does it all the time, with no fuzz. Just goes to show how incredible this sailing vessel is.

    Fascinating boat, thanks ... I would have thought that given the environment this boat would operate in it would have been double hulled, but interesting that aircraft type structures were used, albeit with much thicker webs and skin. Being completely metal hull though, you wouldn't want the heating to fail around the ice shelf

    • @jbuckley2546
      @jbuckley2546 3 года назад

      @Geoff Boston That doesn't make any sense. The bow is where you want the extra strength, unless you're planning to sail it sideways.

    • @JohnnyColtHD
      @JohnnyColtHD 3 года назад

      Starting from the workshop going backwards, there's substantial insulation between the hull and the actual interior. There is also a backup heater in case the main one fails.
