I stumbled across this and omg I ❤️ this! I cannot draw to save myself but this is just amazing and something I am eager to attempt? I have collected odds and ends including trinkets, haberdashery etc for quite some time and now I know why. Thank you for sharing your work and inspiration ❤️
I watched this and loved it during the summer. Now I made my own and love it! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your brilliant ideas and beautiful artwork!!
This is incredible!! I simply loooove how you did this and you use so many different kinds of embellishments. Some with sentimental value and some just plain cute or just interesting to fill space. This is totally inspiring, thank you for sharing. God bless you lovely lady! :) :)
Thank you! I am totally new to mixed media. Love texture, photography and fibre/fabric as well as modern art. Hope to make a large piece featuring my photos from NYC and another perhaps of San Francisco and Chicago. Looking forward to learning from your project videos.
Yay! I was totally thinking the same as you ladies....perfect for a memory collage with my mother's things that are special, but don't get any 'facetime'. I love this presentation!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful canvas technique...I plan on doing one with pic old pictures of witches....I need to find some old embellishments such as crows, etc!! You do beautiful work Einat
wow, thank you so much for sharing your work. I love the colors you used and all the bits of interesting metal. What a beautiful piece of art u created. A thoughtful gift.
OMG absolutely BEAUTIFUL work n thank you so much for sharing your talent. Can't wait to make one for my daughter. Is there a place where I can get embellishments for project?
Hi !! Yes you did inspired me !!!! Can you please tell me what kind of spray paint you used and the band , also I would like to know if de paints are water based or oil based. Thank you so much for this tutorial
can you please let me know the exact paint/stain names and colors you used for this project? I absolutely love it! It's so cool. I have a lot of embellishments and I'm going to try to make this for my daughter with several pics of her3 children. Please let me know the names of the stains...I'm so excited to gets started. You are an awesome artist. Also would this work out the same if I did photo transfer? Ive been going through old pic of my (now adult children) to make this project, for each of their individual lives. lease let me know the names of the stains/paint that you use. Can I make my own gesso? Also what exact name is on the gesso you use? I have matte and gloss. Which modpodge will work best for me? Can I use modpodge in place of gel medium? Thank you for any advise you can share,Teresa
+Teresa Smith I used Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays I don't remember the exact color names but they were brown, green, yellow and turquoise. It would work with a transfer but the image will be less clear. I use Liquitex gesso doesn't matter if it's mat or glossy. You can use Mod Podge but I don't like it because it's a bit more sticky and takes longer to dry. Thanks for watching!
+Marianna Tsemekhman I get my metal pieces from all kinds of places like markets and garage sales. You can also find them here www.etsy.com/shop/CogwheelsandCurls?ref=hdr_shop_menu You can use beads or any other object that you want...there are no rules in art :) Thanks for watching!
Thanks Elinat. I have another question. I just found your art here: www.etsy.com/listing/169209500/sail-away-wall-art-canvas?ref=shop_home_active_8 I really like this and this is what I am hoping to be able to make one day-a 3-d collage that is symbolic and uses many trinkets like cheesecloth, buttons, coins and paint together as one. My question is, I want to make sure it is a cheesecloth you are using that looks like a white net, is that right? Also, I like how you faded out a design on the rim of the frame. How did you make those blue circles on the rim of the frame? Did you use a stencil? Oh I just thought of a way: I have a stencil that has a circle on it. I could use a thin paint brush and go in a circle on the outside of the circle stencil. Then do it again over the circle I have made to make the circles overlap just like you have them overlap! I like the overlapping circle effect. I am new to this, but looking at the collage above gave me a better idea of what trinkets to look for because they are clearly visible in my collage: shells, cheesecloth (I think you used), shiny metal buttons, pearly buttons, paper folded into origami like ways (or sailboat you made), lace (the middle of your collage has the strips of lace and I like how they look painted), felt (used for the clouds I believe and I also like how it looks painted) I think I will try imitating your collage with my own style/idea added to it. I will learn from experimenting the most and I don't know where to start so I will use the collage you made as practice working with collage materials.
+Marianna Tsemekhman I used cheese cloth, but you can also use a bandage like the one you buy in a pharmacy. For the blue circles I didn't use anything it just came out like that from the spritzer :) Have fun experimenting!
oh i just thought of something cheap I could try: Plaster bandages from Bartell Drugs. Because they have some texture to them so they must add something to the collage. And maybe I can use bobby pins for making circle designs, paint over them, and then put a bead in the middle?
Thank you for showing us how this type of mixed media was made. You made your sister a beautiful piece of art and I'm sure she'll treasure it always.

I know this been long ago but this tutorial popped up. You can use any type of canvas right? When you say mixed media is that a brand of canvas.
Mixed media is a type of art where you combine different materials and techniques in one piece. You can do this project on any canvas.
Where do you get your metal embellishments, or where can you find them for cheap? Can you use beads on top of them to make them look like decorations?
+Marianna Tsemekhman I get my metal pieces from all kinds of places like markets and garage sales. You can also find them here www.etsy.com/shop/CogwheelsandCurls?ref=hdr_shop_menu
You can use beads or any other object that you want...there are no rules in art :) Thanks for watching!
