Lee Greenwood still sounds fantastic! The addition of the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants & Home Free elevates the song - you'll forget that it's entirely acapella. You needn't be American to appreciate the sentiment & patriotism of it. Love from a Canadian subscriber. If you haven't heard HFs rendition of "God Bless Texas" - it's terrific too.

I love all the versions of this song (Lee and HF's) but this version is so phenomenal and my absolute favorite. I can't believe how many young reactors have never heard this song. God Bless the USA is played at least every 4th of July and during political rallies and fireworks finales. It's amazing that it was done in 4 separate states during lockdown. This song always brings tears to my eyes. The first time I heard it was Lee doing it in concert while my cousin was serving in Desert Storm. I do wish they hadn't titled this the Air Force Band because it's actually the Singing Sergeants and people think there's an actual band playing not Adam and Tim and the title doesn't give the sergeants the credit they deserve.

Our family is very military. My grandpa served in WW1 (yes, I'm old), my dad served in the Korean war, my husband served a combined 29 years in USAF and Ks. Air National Guard, one son-in-law served in the army with a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan and our other son-in-law is currently serving in the Ks. Air National Guard. This song ALWAYS makes us teary eyed and gives us chills. You are exactly right. There is nothing wrong with having pride in your country and it should unify us. Love your channel!!

This arrangement was done by Chris Rupp [ founding member of HF ] back in 2003 , Lee knew their rendition and has sung it with them backstage at the opry so he asked the guys to do this remake with him and after the release he said that he loved the freedom it gave him to sing it a bit different with his adlibs because he had the guys and the singing sergents to hold the beat/ tone

Trivia: The young lady who sang “from the hills of Tennessee” is from Tennessee. Rob sang “from the lakes of Minnesota” and he and Adam Rupp have been in Minnesota all of their lives. Tim sang “across the plains of Texas” and was born and raised in Texas. Chance sang “from sea to shing sea” and was born in Florida, grew up in Alabama, and now lives in California. These sort of small things make the song even more special. This was done during quarantine. Tim and Austin, both living in Tennessee, were in the studio with Lee Greenwood. Rob was in Home Free’s normal recording studio. Adam Rupp recorded in his home studio (did you catch that flyover he did at the end?!) and Chance recorded in California. And, the Singing Sergeants were in DC.

HF has been doing this song since they formed in 2000. Lee had heard their take on it, and when they met at the Grand Ole Opry, when they were both singing, they sang a chorus of it in the Green Room. It went so well that Lee wanted to record it together, so he could sing it the way he really wanted to. (Added ad libs, etc.) Tim and his wife knew a young woman who was in the Air Force Singing Sargeants, and asked Lee if they could be included. The result is glorious.

This is my favorite collaboration of Home Free’s.. Lee wanted to do some alibis to this song that was not in the his original version. Your are right the Air Force Singing Sergeants added a distinct flavor to the song. Tim Foust the bass sang that part because he is from Texas and Rob Lundquist sang “From the lakes of Minnesota” because that is where his is from. This was done during the lockdown and was recorded in the 4 cities shown in the beginning. The co-ordination and editing was superb. Thanks for great reaction and you have a blessed day.

Patriotic symbols such as the flag, the founding fathers, and patriotic songs are particularly important for a country such as the United States which is very multi-ethnic, multi-faith and multi-cultural. Other, more homogeneous, nations have shared cultures, monarchies, etc as unifying elements. We have things like this. Multi-cultural nations can be fragile and you have to work at creating and maintaining a shared identity.
