Lee Greenwood is the older gentleman who started the song. He wrote it in the 80’s and it’s been a huge hit for him. The other men who were not in uniform are from the group Home Free. They are a tremendous a cappella group (no instruments) who sing all genres of music. They’ve sung this song before and Lee wanted to do another rendition so he called Home Free and they contacted the US Air Force Singing Sergeants and they were in uniform. This was during Covid so they weren’t together. The bass of Home Free (Texas) has a very low voice and can sing super low. The beatboxer was doing the drum sounds with his mouth. So glad you enjoyed it. It’s one of my favorites!!! 🥰

When I was in boot camp at Great Lakes in '87 , I'd go to the Church service on Sunday. They would play this song, I don't think singing along I ever got thru it without gettin' choked up. It made me realize how Blessed I was to be American. Lee came out with this song when we needed a shot in the arm of Patriotism

Jono, America is more of an "ideal" or "way to live" than a land in my humble opinion. Being an American is that ideal. It is the breath in our chest, the heart beating, it is the sun rising and the sun setting and every single choice and action you take! You have every right to feel patriotic to that same ideal. If you are a good person, with a good heart, who wishes for the best for others......you got it! It does not matter where you were born, or where you live.....it is how you choose to live every single moment of each day that makes the difference!

Wow, I really agree with that. It isn't a land, really, or a race. It is a group of people who share certain ideals. In fact if the institutional "United States of America" were to ever go away, there will always be some group of people who still have those values and who are ready to fight and die for them. And then there will be another "USA." It truly is in the heart. Thank you for your comment, Darice.

It makes my heart swell with love for these men, who not only SING this song masterfully, but with meaning for every line in it! Lee Greenwood, Sir, you are a Master at songwriting and sing your words beautifully! The combination of these three groups is sheer perfection and I am taken back to much better times, when America was a much better place! The people themselves haven't changed! But, the Federal Government has left the people! For all of you really good Democrats; please stop voting your heart and vote with some common sense! We need to get America back on the right track! We need to be the Country that our forefathers prayed for and believed we would be! We need to remember what we have lived through and put GOD back in our schools and COUNTRY! WE must be a COUNTRY with borders and stop this insanity that the WOKE MINORITY, who would like for us to believe that they are the MAJORITY, is trying very decietfully to cram down our throats! DO NOT believe them! There are only a handful of them but they are loud and crude! This makes the world believe that is what AMERICA is made up of! Well! It is NOT! Let us, with GOD'S help, get back to the America of Thomas Jefferson and the men, who so valiantly stood up for Freedom; who so valiantly stood up for the dream of AMERICA! Virginian here, 22 year Navy Retired, I saw your reaction to the Star Spangled Banner, our anthem. I understood your pausing as it's not "YOUR" anthem. But I give Every Anthem the respect for that country and her service persons. Mine is just the one that brings tears to my eyes.

The original song, Lee Greenwood, was my Kindergarten graduation song (1985 😬) we had a whole thing and sang the song in an elementary school gym with all our parents there. I know, I know it’s weird but there was a time that America was wholesome and we truly did love our country. Thank you, for reacting to this and reminding me of that night/time so many many years ago. ❤

I am a South African expat US citizen. I will never forget PE and my childhood in beautiful South Africa but I am so proud to be an American. This song always makes me cry. My journey is complicated and it ended up with my parents, sisters and nieces ending up here in the USA. I lived in California for 30 years and we left for Idaho during the pandemic. We live in a very patriotic state and town. I am forever grateful for all of the opportunities afforded my son and our nieces just by virtue of having the good fortune of living here . All four of them make me mad sometimes because they have no idea how lucky they are and they take things for granted. Moving here has it's rewards but the roads are not pathed with gold. My parents moved here in their 50s and both have just turned 80. The path has not been easy for them and the financial struggles have never eased. They gave up so much for their kids and grandkids and sometimes the younger generation does not appreciate it. All four of the cousins(my son and his cousins) all have had a chance at excellent college educations. My son went to a very sought after college and now lives and works in Manhattan. I am a middle aged woman but I would fight with my last dying breath in gratitude for what this country has given my family. I am not very religious but this song makes me emotional. Hoping for the next four years being so much better. We are not MAGA but both of us voted for Trump. (All three times). Too many weirdos, freaks and ungrateful clowns on the left. It is time for the corrupt insane lefties to be indicted for everything they have done.

That is the point actually. Everyone should be proud of where they come from. Celebrating different cultures only makes your life richer. Here in America we have the gift of many cultures to experience and benefit from, and our children get to enjoy festivals from around the World right in their own neighborhood when neighbors share their heritage. The more you appreciate your homeland, the more you can appreciate someone else's. Thanks for the reaction.

Omg- my late husbands business had a dinner and entertainment in Birmingham Alabama for other Industrial Distributors across the southeast. Lee Greenwood was our entertainment. Awesome. A few of us ladies got to go backstage. Mr Greenwood thanked my husband to allow him to perform for all of us (how humble is that??). He gave me a hug and his cologne was all over my blouse.
One of the women that didn’t go backstage wanted my blouse so bad I had to give her my blouse when we got home. Incredibly and genuinely nice, humble man.

Ok, Glad you enjoyed the song, The man you like that sang about TX, is Tim Foust, of the A Cappella group, Home Free. Tim is one of few bass sings that can go that low. Just misses the last few keys on the low end of a full piano. Tim sings 5 octaves. Tim has broke speakers, live on stage. The group is great. There was no interment's used in this song. It was all the groups voices, including the drums. Adam Rupp the beat boxer. Go lesion to, Man of Constant Sorrow. A good way to start with them. Another would be Johnny Cashes, Ring of Fire. You will get stuck on them, and lots of help from the Home Fries, Their following. Tims low stuff. Go hear, Brothers in Arms, You will feel it through the song.
