+Qasim Mir The same reason I clicked on this video! I came out of the theater angry at what "they" had done to Starsky, Hutch, Huggy & the show, but enjoyed watching the Gran Torino get driven like I used to drive mine. . . . . . .minus the things that would have obviously damaged it.
My dad has one of the originals sent to canada. There's actually only 80 left now as some were destroyed during the making of the movie. My dad was actually asked if he would like his car in the movie but said no because its his baby. We love it :) we call it the big red tomato. Extremely difficult to get parts for it though

I LOVED the series, LOVE a '75 & '76 Gran Torino with that beautiful red paint job and awesome white stripe, but I CRINGED at 3:41!! OHHHH, the permanent frame / body damage to that BEAUTIFUL car!! Ford desperately needs to pull their head out, get off their arrogant asses and make more Gran Torinos like the '75 & '76 models in order for the fans to make more of Starsky's look alike Gran Torino! All because the idea maker said "take a Torino and make it stand out"! So glad it was white to start!

I am so thinking of having the striped tomato stripe on my red X-90, of course its gonna get frowns from both sides as its a Jap Car but I think it would look good :-)

+Elvis Presley Thousands? Wrong. Starsky's Gran Torino was a 1975, with power windows. A 1974 or 1976 with the same paint scheme is not the same, but then I like authenticity.

Did you know that the tv show (and the car more importantly) were so popular that Ford made a special edition Torino that looked exactly like the TV stunt car back in the day? I saw a rebuilt starsky and hutch Torino at a show that was originally one of those special edition cars, it was bad ass.
except it didn't.. the stripe had no black pinstripe and you couldn't get the mag wheels with it

The Torino was called a lot of things in the series, most often, the striped tomato, but Starsky and Hutch were "Zebra 3", no matter what they were driving. Hutch's Galaxie, a borrowed pickup truck, a 59 Edsel, a Rolls... The partners were "Zebra 3", not the car. 10 sierra 11 harry, MsMaclane, but that was just radio lingo, not the name of the car. Just because a car has a stripe doesn't make it a zebra, kids. But this movie is a turkey. Nice editing on your video, Hans, aber nicht die name.

@SauceCaptain Yes, 1000 were made, with 100 going to Canada. I bought parts off one of the Canadaian cars back in October to put on my own S&H clone. there are less than 100 of the S&H specials currently alive...

Ironically, the Torino in this movie performed a lot better than the Torino in the TV show. That Torino was a bloated piece of junk - cool to look at, great in a straight line but impossible to turn without spinning out.
+paktype Tv Torino's had a 351 Windsor in them. Movie cars had a 460 in them. I won one of them. 460 is very powerful especially with a larger cam and such.

It's a bit of a shame almost every 75/76 Torino is done up like the Starsky & Hutch Torino...
The original Starsky and Hutch, (I don't care to learn there real names) actually hated the Torino and would purposely crash it and mistreat it because they wanted a Camaro Convertible instead, they should have been fired.

wrong year Torino too, starskys car in the good series was a 1974 Torino (square chrome side mirrors) not (round red painted mirrors) so that makes the whole movie a fucking fail, couldn't even get the year of the star right, 😞😞😞
