  • This is Antique Huntley dresser that I worked on and I found my before and after videos along with one of the issues that inevitably come up working on older dressers.
I show my approach to removing the old knobs and the tools that I used.
If there’s any extra footage of working on this dresser, I will see if I can post it but I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out although it kind of broke my heart to paint over black walnut veneer.
The problem is, that in my area, No one seems to be interested in buying antique brown furniture and it’s original glory. So painting the furniture and writing in the hardware is the best approach if you want to treat it as a business and keep your personal opinion about how to treat an antique out of the process.
If you have any questions about what I used and how I did it, please comment and I will reply.
I found that Dixie Belle’s “Endless Shore” furniture paint was the perfect white, but it changed a bit when adding a topcoat and I am doing research into which topcoats will protect the finish without changing the color too much or yellowing too soon.
