Wow. How lucky can one be??? Given a free pair of Alden split-toe Norwegian derbies...IN SHELL CORDOVAN NO LESS...is a God send!!! Absolutely gorgeous shoes. I would try and wear those everyday if I owned them. Definitely with a casual bright blue suit, sport coat and chinos, definitely with dark wash blue jeans...(and maybe even with a pair of nice kahki shorts and long sleeve dress shirt...wink, wink). But yeah...those are just beautiful shoes.
Alden is arguably, the top, best quality American made shoes of today. Allen Edmonds is a close second. Well...maybe not a close second....but definitely second. There are a few other well made American brands, such as Cobbler Union, (which I believe is actually made over seas, but is an American company out of Atlanta, GA), but Alden is...and has been for many years, the top quality made American shoe, on par with many English made brands. Now...with that said...there a quite a few English brands that blow Alden away, but all in all, Alden is a respectable shoe compared to many English brands. And like I said...Allen Edmonds is a step down from Alden. Always has been. However, both...are well respected quality made shoes, with Allen Edmonds quality dipping in the last few years. These Aldens...are gorgeous. Anyone should be proud to own and wear such beautiful shell cordovan. Lucky you...I say.
Hope you find shoes you like! I heard that Alden's are one Tier Higher than Allen Edmond based on price point and shoe structure. but I don't have Allen Edmond's so can't say first hand...
I can see the craftsmanship on these shoes is terrific .
Funny, They are heavy when you hold them but they don't feel heavy on your feet.

Very informative will pin this comment to the top so future readers don’t miss it!
You would need to condition them at least with VSC to avoid drying up and cracking.
Ordering some! Thanks!

Very Cool Friend 🤯 Allen Edmonds DOES have multiple flaws in each pair, cordovan or cow leather! Facts. I have them and definitely flawed.
I lucked out with these ones!
And the problem is?
Shell doesn’t give much!
Not stretching maybe a good thing assuming your feet don’t change… I should have done a better job making that clear
Thank you for clarifying. I did enjoy the article.
ur friend got wide feet why he didn't buy wider size?
He didn’t have wide feet when he originally bought them…
He took on hiking… and his feet expanded… luckily for me
