    Amazing how you take a shoe that most people would just look past and turn it into a beautiful shoe that looks like it costs 10 times probably what the retail price was.. Great work!!

    Just picked a pair of these up thanks to your video! Excited to give them a good shine and mirror finish, but if it doesn't work out they will be heading your way. Lol.

    I owen four pairs from this brand and they are the last dependable brand that I even take a second look at in the United States. The French, The English and Germans make some of the best shoes on earth but this brand still has that old luster that still catches my eye.

    Nice vid! I watched it because I have a pair of Grant Stone Ottawa's that look almost exactly alike those and I love them and I want to keep them shiny. I put a tiny bit of saphir creme on it and buff it every night before bed. The crimson cxl really shines well.

    I love in this video how you are using the renovatour (sp?) conditioner. This is an old video, and today when you use the conditioner you can’t even see the conditioner on your fingers or the shoes when you apply it. Clearly this is from a viewers perspective and may be completely inaccurate. That said, in this video you can easily see the amount of conditioner you are using. If I had sent my shoes in, I would really hope you would apply the conditioner more liberally like this video. Thanks Preston...

    Medaille D'Or is pronounced (using English words that are phonetically identical to the French): Meh-dye Door. "Meh" is actually Yiddish but nevermind. The apostrophe in D'Or in a sense fuses the 'De' to the 'Or' but the way you pronounce it separates them again. Hope this will be recieved well.

    The shoes you're working on look amazing, the products you're using do a wonderful job and thanks for the demo. I'm interested in the products you've discussed as I've recently purchased a pr. of AE walnut colored weaved Leiden's w/ matching belt however, the belt and shoe are a slight shade off. I did purchase a tube of the AE walnut color cream for the shoes but didn't think to get wax nor was it offered. Your assistance is welcomed.

    Do you use saddle soap before applying saphir renovatuer? To me it seems that the soap gets rid of everything including old polish and renovateur gets absorbed better.what do you think?

    • @TheElegantOxford
      @TheElegantOxford  5 лет назад +3

      I don’t usually Saddle Soap unless the shoe is really soiled and needs to be shampoo’d. It’s good stuff though.

    Having a high shine where the crease in the shoe will happen won’t that leave cracks or is there a trick im missing out on that allows for a high shine and no crack?

    • @TheElegantOxford
      @TheElegantOxford  5 лет назад +2

      It depends on the shoe and the foot but I avoid areas where I see cracks forming. Aside from that, a flex point can handle 1-2 layers and it will work fine.

    Preston, do your fingers ever get irritated from the polishes etc?

    • @walkermorales337
      @walkermorales337 5 лет назад +1

      Brian Barnett saphir in particular is made from natural stuff (oils waxes etc.) so I’d imagine that it would be pretty gentile on skin which is a good thing since leather is also skin

    How come you use ur fingers instead of a cloth for application?

    • @TheElegantOxford
      @TheElegantOxford  5 лет назад +2

      You can use a cloth or your fingers. It doesn’t matter which.

    • @kevindmayfield
      @kevindmayfield 5 лет назад +2

      I like to use my fingers as well. One advantage to using your fingers is less waste of cream, more cream going straight into the leather rather than being left behind in the cloth.

    Hey man! What’s the ring on the right hand for? SMC college, or something else?

    • @TheElegantOxford
      @TheElegantOxford  5 лет назад +7

      I was a missionary in Mexico for 2 years, almost 10 years ago. I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This ring was given to me as a momento by a fellow missionary. I’ve worn it every day since. Helps me to remember the people of Tamaulipas. Haha I know that’s a long answer. I’m a graduate of UCSD.

    can y'all please stop with "renovatour"?? it's renovatEUR ! "teur" is the French for "tor" like in actor or doctor. so RENOVATOR is the right way to say it. gosh as a French that pisses me off. 😠
