I just ordered a pair of these same Allen Edmunds in black. Very much looking forward to them. I hate broguing and don't love cap toes so this to my taste is the perfect versitle shoe design. Saphir is second to none in care products...
Both companies make great shoes. Generally, AE looks better and Alden is more comfortable. Consequently, and I feel a bit shallow for admitting it, but I prefer AE.

do you find any difference in the wear and comfort of the leather/under cork foot bed between the two? that's most important to me I choosing which to buy. thanks.
Daniel Kirschner To me, the AE footbed "breakes in" a lot quicker, but then in the long run feels a bit stiffer. Broken in well, Both of them are equally comfortable. But compared to AE, the aldens somehow feel like bricks on your feet. One may like it or not. I do!

If i had money i would buy both of those nice shoes. Very beautiful.
Allen Edmonds is more or less a suit shoe whereas Alden is more of a Harris tweed or any type of textured wool type of shoe.
