- Talk about bucket list road trips... A California trip has always been something I have dreamed of doing so Kara & In decided to pack the bikes into the bags, leave the rain and slow behind in the UK and fly to the USA for a dream 2 week road trip shredding all of the famous dirt jumps and skatepark spots.
After flying into Los Angeles we headed straight to Thousand Oaks to ride the Sapwi bike park which was insane. From pump tracks, beginner lines, advanced lines and even an expert line, Sapwi offered it all making for a huge session. Kara practised her basic skills by riding the small lines whilst I was able to send the big jumps and get some awesome tricks down such as bar spins, tail whips, 360's and backflips! This bike park is absolutely perfect for beginner rider looking to sharpen their skills like jumping or manuals and learn some basic MTB tricks.
We are both riding our hardtail dirt jump bikes in this video, one is a Haibike DRT11 kitted out with components from Halo wheels & Gusset components.

Brilliant bike park, those lines looked great. I was more impressed though Tom by the fact you just casually called out your tricks while you were actually doing them. Kara is coming along really well. Her skills really are improving.

Thousand Oaks Wow! I watch Californian rides on Ebikes every day as that is my thing! This week has been Awesome Sam Pilgrim on the Isle of Wight where I live and You riding in what I can only describe as the Mecca! Of real shred Country! The Best in the World I think! Woohoo!! Sapwi is so fun!! I rode there in October. Awesome vibe! All ages BMX, and dirt jump paradise. Wind can definitely be a factor. Enjoy CA!!!
It can get soggy up north, if you decide to head back south there is a sportbike motorcycle spot with some mountain biking on the hills, Glendora mountain road, there are lots of sport bikes it can get like a racetrack at times, and there are also trails people ride down on mountain bikes off the side of the road, watch out for crazy drivers of all sorts.

Welcome to the USA. Too bad you couldn't take Route 1 along the coast. That is the scenic route. It takes a long time and is only good during the day. I have driven all over the USA for over 45 years and I can say California 1 is the most scenic coastal route there is.
If you have the time on the way back home, you should stop at Ray's Indoor Bike Park in Cleveland, Ohio. It is the best indoor bike park in America. Your dirt jump bikes are perfect for riding there. Check them out on RUclips. If you decide to do that I have a Sprinter van. I could bring you there from the airport so you wouldn't have to rent a car.
Enjoy Santa Cruz. It is a beautiful place.

Just a recommendation you should go and visit Eric porter it might be a bit of a drive but that would be the ultimate collab
Check out Pacifica! And if you go as far North as Humboldt there's some excellent spots. Traction is prime as of now. Rain coming next week.
Tom!! A bunch of solid riders including a BMX legend Eddie Fiola ride the velosolutions Pump Track in Temecula Skate Park in Temecula ca. about 1.5-2 hrs from this park.
You should come out! We usually ride on saturdays getting there in the morning ish. 8-10am. A couple other pro mtn bike rides come out too! Would be so rad to see you there!!

Be careful in CA, enjoy your trip, the drive on US 1 is one of the best parts of CA enjoy your trip in the USA. I live in the middle of the country and it's very cold, oh how nice it would be to be able to ride again. Not happening till spring here in the Great lakes land today the high is only going to be 18 brrrrr.

Seven Elevens are all over, so there has to have been one near there, that's a bit like saying you couldn't find a Starbucks... hard to avoid them... but it's spelled-out, not written as numbers, and they also own a bunch of brands now, like Sunoco, so those other stores have Seven Eleven products, just a different name on the sign.
