I've seen her live twice already and she never disappoints. her shows & music are full of self-loving, empowering, nonapologetic woc femme love. i love this. thanks for bringing her on tiny desk
I have watched a lot of Tiny Desk Concerts and this is in the top 5 performances. Jamila is just a revelation as a singer, songwriter and performer. And the band is just perfect! I love them all!!

I love this series - that it allows me to experience artist without leaving my house, dealing with crowds, and wasting my money, is just awesome! As for Ms. jamila Woods, I'm a new fan. Her lyrics, musical style, and voice combine into calm energy and energetic comfort.
I'm not even going to lie, I actually felt the Spirit in that last song. I literally started getting caught up, if you know what I mean. What a blessing. Much love to Jamila Woods.
@@live42dayy25 theyve been brainwashed by white feminism to hate us. And as you can see, the black community is failing as a result of it. Because black women cant teach black boys to be men. My whole generation looks up to the fictional character, uncle phil, as a dad. That should tell you something.
Top act ive seen here. Chance, Paak, Chick Corea, and other artists are without a shadows doubt incredible, but this shit is different. It elevates your conscience, soul, and heart on a street and musical level. The kinda shit I've been looking out for and look for all the time. Beautiful, the continuation of profound music harbouring a heart of resistance and rebellion. respect and harmony.
..."And I cry, I cry: It's Just The Rain So I Can Grow." I wish Artists like this would get more exposure, more airplay, more props, worldwide recognition; more EVERYTHING instead of everything ELSE which not only pales in comparison but most often totally lacks any kind of Substance...with the only real talent just being The Superficial.
Something about her music that's very therapeutic.. it calms me down and just makes me feel a lot better instantly.. Special shout out to the album 'heavn'.. my go to medication lately 💊💆🏻♀️🧠💕
What an absolutely amazing voice and knowledge she shares. Coming straight from the soul, belief in oneself, and letting everything out there, still getting up throughout all the hate put out there and still loving and fighting for what you believe in. You are loved and teaching love. Thank you for sharing and allowing us to grow with you. Your light shines far and wide. We hear you.
Bout damn time! I was there at the filming (back in early Nov) and it's been killing me waiting and hoping for this to finally show up while dozens of others that were filmed after were released. Why do some take so long while others get published in a couple days?
No matter how many artist's sets I listen to I keep coming back to Jamila. I love the tone of her voice, her delivery, and her rich message driven lyrics. I could listen to her sing all day long!!
She’s so powerful. Like she time capsules black American history beautifully, always with resilience, hope and grace. Melancholic, but there’s this warmness you sink into, that you feel, that comforts you, and reminds you that you are seen.
just realizing now how during the bridge of Blk Girl Soldier jamila sings "Angela IS a freedom fighter" and "Assata IS freedom fighter" - in the studio recording of the song, jamila sings "Angela WAS a freedom fighter" and "Assata WAS a freedom fighter"
"My cup is fuller. What I've got is enough. Nobody completes me. Don't mess with my stuff" that hit home ❤
Big Ups to Tiny Desk for displaying Black Conscious music, no fear, no one else would allow this kind of spotlight definitely not mainstream.
Exactly
