My drum solo's usually start with a motif that develops into a sentence. One or more sentences together eventually form a theme. From that moment on the theme is the core of my solo. However, my starting point for this solo has been a groove from a Donald Fagen song. The theme developed some later. You know which song and drummer I mean, right?…,don't you?

31 years of drumming behind me and I have never seeing such beautiful drums solo like the one Rene creemers do _ real story writing , musicality , awesome dynamic a,d control , technique , subdivisions , the drum is singing and we forget tottally the human behind . True pieces of art

Simply incredible. Very few artist achieve to reinvent themself on an instrument while unmistakably maintaing their own voice. I guess this would pretty much sum up what Rene achieved in this clip. His playing on this is extremely fresh and exciting. Being a jazz player myself i hear more of a jazz vibe than usually, which i find especially pleasing. All hail Maestro! Geweldig!
