Waw, finally a clear explanation of how to connect the goggles with the RC-N1, or DJI RC. I hope that DJI will soon make a software release that officially supports the connection to its RC controllers. Thank you!
DJI should enabe it to work with the original motion. No apologies to DJI, because i think it's callous to actually be manipulating the consumers given the fast pace at which the controllers were released. Comon, consumers at least want to have some value for money. Worst case, DJI could have create a software feature addon that could be purchased for a micro price in-app and enable this to happen in an assurance oriented manner.
hello sir! nice workaround to use the RC controller. its been six months so have you been flying the mini 3 pro with goggles 2 using the RC controller? are you encountering any issues with range, latency, etc? more importantly is the fpv link solid and reliable? some have reported issues of the drone shutting down which i found very strange. may be from dji people badmouthing this method.
It should be possible, I found this information in the RC Motion 2 manual: Press and hold the FN dial from the FPV view and then scroll up or down to tilt the camera. Release the dial to stop the camera tilt. If the aircraft supports Explore Mode and Explore Mode is turned on, scroll the dial on the goggles FPV view to adjust the camera zoom.
Are you able to use the screen on the controller as you fly… and let someone else wear the goggles to see it in fpv? (Kinda like being a personal pilot for someone else who wants to sightsee.)
I've got the same question. But, Shawn from Air Photography has stated that the goggles integra corrective lenses, had some sort of quality flaw and so, he ended up getting aftermarket corrective lenses for the Integra. Thus, it seems that the goggles 2, are a better choice since the diopters are fully adjustable. Just wishing DJI would make either goggles fully functional without having to force you to get the MC2.

@@RobHK oh, this is so unfortunate. I can imagine with the fine controls from the RC remote, and with head tracking it could make it such a good use for filming. Your fingers fine controlling the drone, and your head controlling the camera gimbal and drone rotation.
I've tried this with my Mini Pro3 and seems to work good with my very limited knowledge of drones. It appears to me that the googles only see out of the camera and have no other function with the drone looks like the RC has complete control of the drone even though there is no picture on the RC remote. Have you put this to the test to understand all the functions and any quirks you may have experienced.
Its the same process. Connect the controller and phone, then goggles and mini 3 pro. On the main screen where it says «go fly» just above there should be an icon with the goggles saying «connected» tap on that and your phone goes into a text view and the feed will come from the goggles
I have both, Avata is more fun and in N mode and Horizontal lock there is not much difference except the mini pro is more air time for video stuff and the follow me stuff etc...but I dont care about those things, I use my Avata 80% of the time over mini pro.
Hi ROb, I did the test with a Mavic 3 anda Integra and it works. But the video feed is only in the goggles. The cellphone just shows the message that it won't work. I can controll the drone, flew 2km but coudn't record nor take photos. In other flight I began to record before to turn the goggles on, but as soon the video came to the goggles, it turns the recording off.
so the goggles still do the communication with the drone or can you have everything done by RC controller and just connect RC controller with goggles ?
I tested it with the Integra, and flew 2 km with perfect video feed, but I couldn't start recording video or taking photos. Were you able to record video or take photos with the Goggles 2 ?

Great stuff, thanks for sharing this. DJI might try and fix this “bug” but as long as you don’t update again it will always work. Hopefully they will just add the feature so we don’t have to use a work around.

I tried it with Mini 4 Pro, no luck... It just doesn't connect (on flight). All firmware updated, Goggles 2 paired with Mini 4, I can fly with Goggles 2 and Motion Controller 2. Maybe DJI remowed this workaround from Mini 3 Pro also with latest firmware? I tried to cast (mirror) my RC-N2 connected Android phone screen to Googles 2 - it works, but needs external WiFi (pockect router is ok) - and lag is ~3 sec... also very hard to use menus if you cannot see your fingers and lag is 3 sec. But this way I can see screen better than on phone in summer with brights sun.
I just ordered an Avata (with the Motion 2), I currently own a Mini 2 and Mavic 3. I hope they enable the use of the RC and RC-N1 with the Avata, I really don’t want to buy another controller, it’s really just a waste for a lot of DJI owners that own several of the same aircraft.
I was going to get the goggles to possibly help taking pictures, but sadly there is no proper control over camera settings via the motion controller and the screen on the controller turns off with the goggles connected, not that you could see it any way.
Here’s something. I’ve started using my mini 3 pro with my goggles 2 and motion controller 2. Every time I switch back and forth from the RCN1 controller to the motion controller 2 I have to switch binding devices. Is that normal? That’s a bit of a hassle. If I want to use the goggles I have to plug in my phone and go to the fly app and change binded devices. I hope they address this issue with a new firmware update

oooh it might be due transmitting video on 2 places at the same time thats maybe why it is supposed to work with motion only ? im interested now is it that or just money grab for motions this would be amazing for sunny day since screen hoods are scarce and mostly bad for rc controller i was so happy when i heard for this update but how i see it so far its not very usable unless they let us use rc controller normaly if it is dual video broadcasting they can disable rc screen in software or turn it into some sort of dashboard or anything just let us use it with goggles lol
I was hoping to use this to give fly alongs to people but it looks like that wont work currently.When I turn on the goggles once they connect the error screen pops up on the DJi RC screen and no longer have any camera view.

Be careful if your flying and you get a RTH low battery, it would not let me cancel the return to home because it was insisting that i had to use brake using the Motion 2 controller. Finally after pressing the pause button over and over it stopped. Also, it did not behave in the RTH mode it was set to. It just hovered where it was turned around and started to make a B-line home. Not good because i was only 8-10 ft Above ground level 🤦🏻 this is definitely a hacky deal. Hopefully DJi officially enables "official" Goggles 2 use with regular RC's
I ran into the same problem, but there is a very simple workaround. Simply turn off your Goggles. I KNOW that sounds cRaZy, but as soon as you turn off the goggles, the standard controller will take over again. Problem addressed, not solved, but close enough.

Better yet, if the RTH was triggered due to signal loss, once you get back in range then you can either guide your drone to a gentle landing wherever you want, or… you can cancel the RTH via your standard controller, hover for a sec, turn your goggles back on, and RTF. (Return to FUN)

The time that I try to use the goggles with my Mavic three I noticed that the range wasn’t as good as just using the controller. It felt like I was losing signal a lot quicker with the goggles on then just using the RC pro controller itself.
Nice Video, Until today DJI never released an update for us to be able to connect the RC with Goggles and be able to fly at the same time, the FPV remote controller 2 can be used on the Mini Pro 4 but not the 3, I think it is about control and money, they want to keep us to keep bying there stuff must be someone out there who can break that code and make it works?
The fpv controller 2 Cannot be used with the mini 4 pro. The only controller that can be used with the mini 4 pro with goggles is the motion 2 and maybe the rc2/n2 with this workaround. But the fpv controller 2 -no way.

Did not work for me - after turning the goggles back on, drone stops to follow control and starts auto landing. Maybe they "polished" the firmware today already (compared to yesterday). Anyway, DJI, you make us only angry with this generous update.
I tried this hack and it works, but the warning message from DJI worries me: "Current remote controller not supported. Continued use may result in flight safety risk." Does this hack pose any kind of legitimate safety risk?

That’s strange…. Can’t takeoff with the goggles on with the remote but can with the motion 2. Bit you can takeoff with the remote and then turn on the goggles and fly. What’s the point ? Such a cluster.
In the UK you can't fly with goggles unless you have a second person AKA spoter or your braking CAA rules as you have to have eyes on the drone at all times 😉🤦💪👍👊

It should be possible, I found this information in the RC Motion 2 manual:

Head tracking is ONLY available with the motion 2 as of now.

Rc screen turns “off” you’re left with a connection screen of the goggles. Nothing to worry about

it's probably meant to be used when "spectating". Hopefully it sticks around as having to use the motion controls is a deal breaker for me otherwise.

There’s no manual mode on the DJI RC nor does a normal drone have manual capabilities
Only way for a “FPV” feel is to use the motion controller. Motion 1 doesn’t connect to the Mini 3 Pro so that means you will need to get the Motion 2😕
I have the DJI RC Motion 2 and it’s awsome. Around 30-35 min of FPV using this controler.

I can´t update the Mini 3 Pro or the RC controller to the new version; says "server error". Anyone having the same issue?

Make sure you are logged into your DJi account on fly app or do it with the desktop software.
Why just 26mbps?
Probably they will fix this glitch in a future update, in the FAQ on the official website it says that it can only be used with Motion 2.

@@Stevieboyfpv I tested unplugging the goggles while in flight, it just defaults to the controller for video feed.
No issues.

Typical DJI bullshit this all. They really need to take a hard look at the way they are treating their customers.
I guess they made too many of the joystick and is forcing people to buy them anyway possible.
That’s strange…. Can’t takeoff with the goggles on with the remote but can with the motion 2. Bit you can takeoff with the remote and then turn on the goggles and fly. What’s the point ? Such a cluster.
It can mean 2 things, a bug which will be fixed in the near future or that the controllers will be compatible soon

In the UK you can't fly with goggles unless you have a second person AKA spoter or your braking CAA rules as you have to have eyes on the drone at all times 😉🤦💪👍👊

I tried with my mini4pro with the rc2 controller,doesn't work😢😢😢
