Sepultura destroys 3 bands out of the Big 4. Other than Slayer, the Big 4 are like soccermom thrash. Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax have lost their speed & aggression since the early 90's, while their counterparts (Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, etc.) have made some of their best albums since the 2000's and onward. From '87-'91 no other thrash band could touch Sepultura.
They were giant killers had they remained. The only band the big four feared and was no one more grateful they split up than them. Slayer is slayer and will always remain in the big four they stayed true to the end. Metallica lost me somewhere back in the day but the first three albums was the greatest thing to hit metal and set the stage. Megadeth would never had been if mustaine could have gotten along with the rest of Metallica but instead went to create some of the nastiest riffs in metal music though they also sort of lost me somewhere back in the day. Anthrax in my opinion put thrash on the scene and gave the genre definition. There is a difference between anthrax and the other three! Sepultura had a hard time breaking out due to their war torn country and finding someone to give them a chance but I knew beneath the remains with some of those riffs was the beginning's of a monster and if it gets better then the big 4 better hold on tight and then arise comes out. I was actually scared for our big 4 and they were scared also. There was nothing I could do. I was like holy crap! For all the big 4 and what you have done you didn't create the greatest metal album of all time. Maybe some songs but not the album. It makes you wanna fight from start to finish. Adrenalin takes over meanest breakdown riffs EVER. They raised the bar so high it can't be duplicated without ridicule. They did there own thing but committed musical suicide. Had they stayed together the big 4 would be different.
