I used to make hearty vegetable soup to which I added barley, quinoa and chopped spinach, simmered in homemade broth - either veggie or chicken. I need to do that again. I kept the pot in the fridge and dug into it over the next few days. And now I can eat it with a piece of buttered fresh milled flour bread instead of store-bought bread.
I mix it up, but I fit in as many veggies as I can, usually: celery, carrots, onions, bok choy, leeks, kale, purple cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, acorn squash, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and/or potatoes. 😊
Delicious 😋 I like parsley, cilantro, garlic, red onions, spinach, pumpkin, beets, squashes or zucchini, carrots, cabbage, potatoes and something to make it creamy (like cashew cream or coconut cream).
My grandmother used to cook soup with carrot, potato, onion, a bit of tomato and barley wit a base of red meat on the bone. My current favourite contains onion, leek, potatoes, pumpkin, carrot, some zucchini as well as fresh celery; everything gets sauteed and then cooked in either a vegetable or beef broth. Depending on the cooking time available a mixture of barley, lentils and peas make a great addition to the vegetables.
I used squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli sprout, cassava, carrots, and the ingredients you used today in your soup. What about the protein for the soup. I like chicken soup.
Annette, I have been eating extremely healthy for over 8 months. I’ve lost 65lbs. No fast food or process food whatsoever. I’m trying to reverse an “incurable” disease however, my sugar still rises up to 180 with fruits n starches. What am I doing wrong?? I quit all sodas, all breads, all breaded meat and all pastas.
I personally apply organic Ceylon cinnamon on my organic green 🍏 with a bit of peanut butter In my coffee or tea, too I use it in soups about half a teaspoon In farina or steel oatmeal I love to squeeze lime on my tender sirloin steak 🕊️💞
Yes intermittent fasting like half a day once or twice a week, and drink applecider vinger a tablespoon or two in a glass of water before eating and walk at least three times a week. It will reverse walking early before meals help a lot it lowers your numbers and you might want to incorporate walking or some sort of exercise after eating.🙏🏿🌈
That's great... I've lost 30 pounds since April by doing the same. My inflammation was horrible and now it's nearly gone. Re your blood sugar spikes, fruits (some more than others) will always increase your blood sugar more rapidly as they release natural sugars quickly into the bloodstream. I would stick to low sugar fruits like berries and limit the intake as well. Stick to starches, that is carbohydrate-containing foods, that are high in fiber because the fiber helps slow the release & absorption of the sugars. And keep monitoring your blood sugar as you tweak your intake. You've made significant positive changes...some just take longer than others. There are other health factors to take into consideration as to an appropriate range for your blood sugar but you are totally on the right track! 🎉🏆
Mushrooms, yams. My Natural path Dr. told me to go go on a low fiber diet because my stomach is so bad. I am pain and bloating when I eat fibrous food. Will this be good if I blend it up?
She said when she serves it she adds a spritz of lemon juice....so it seems she adds it to each bowl upon serving rather than to the pot. Makes more sense 🤔
I am avoiding nightshade produce but there are many alternatives out there to choose from. I seem to make pots of soup all the time even when I don't want it they are perfect for freezing for when I do want it cause I love soup but cant stand the canned variety & I think this has a a lot to do with my Dad & grandpa who always had some form of soup stew or something of this nature on the stove almost every day. Dad didn't like short cuts much so most of our meals where home made using the best possible ingredients we could find & or afford at the time & i am carrying on that tradition cause if I don't I will be racked with guilt for cheating lol Since tomato falls in the category of night shade, I still use tomato after they are skinned & deseeded or i buy passata which is strained tomato & this is ideal for soups without the irritation of the seeds & skin for those who have some kind of chronic inflammatory diseases like myself.

First of congratulations!🎉 I'm not a healthcare professional but what helped me was fasting. It helped me detox and get rid of inflammation.

This soup looks wonderful. When do you add the lemon juice, after you put it in your own bowl or the whole pot? Did I miss that part?
