Geometry is different. In my personal opinion, the rear end is more locked in with the wrc. Ever since the mbx8 has been out. The rear end of that car hasn’t been super solid feeling to me on acceleration. Every pillow ball car looks similar but they all have different geometry.
Welcome to competitive rc car racing. Sadly the way it is with every car. Reasoning is because a company makes a kit as cost effectively as possible and to suit 1 main surface “best”. Then the buyer who may not race on that surface will need to buy parts to fit another surface best.
