BetaFPV makes some seriously cool drones, and I hope they stick with their current naming convention-a Pavo Atto has a nice ring to it.
Because I can never leave well enough alone, I recently started stripping all the good bits of DJI tech from a Neo that’s seen better days (let’s just say it had a rough landing). My original plan was to create a hybrid of the BetaFPV Aquila 16 and the DJI Neo, but now I think I’ll try to get my hands on one of these Femto first.
It’s wild how tiny these quads are getting while still delivering impressive range and video quality. Before long, we’ll be sitting down in a comfy chair, rocking our Goggles 3, and tearing through our homes-watching the feed from an aircraft smaller than a hummingbird.

I have a cheap $200 usd for Goggles because I'm on a budget, what would you recommend for Goggles on that budget. Picked up a control and the hummingbird v.3. I think I'm gonna try and pick that one up as well
Lowest priced DIGITAL goggles are the DJI N3. WALKSNAIL also has a set of low priced goggles. And finally, you could get ANALOG goggles off BANGGOOD easily for under $200 USD. Just keep in mind that whatever goggles you pick, you are then stuck with then only buying FPV drones that work with your goggles.
@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok so would it be worth to keep saving for something like the fat shark dominator? Are they a more versatile application as far as being able to use them with most fpv drones ?
@@johndeluca1119 FATSHARK FPV Goggles either come in ANALOG or WALKSNAIL. Whichever you get means then that you can only fly either ANALOG or the WALKSNAIL FPV Drones.
I would love to get the 04 lite but I am currently using analogue and even though the camera isn't expensive, it is expensive with the goggles and controller

BetaFPV recommends to use 450mAh batteries, why not the 550mAh? Which ones should I get?
Get whatever you desire. When a company recommends a battery it is only because the weight of the battery recommended is perfect for the drone and often times it fits in the battery holder.

Yes. The new DJI 04 system requires plenty of power so it is a great draw on the battery.
Been looking at the femto now the o4 lite is out , though seen a few reviews saying there’s an issue with jello …maybe it’s just down to cold rubber dampeners then ?….Do I pull the trigger and grab one or wait to see what other 04 whoops come out in the next month or so 🤔
I am looking at femto too. But from the reviews and comm I have seen, I think there are bigger problems than jello. Jello is easily solvable. I have seen some performance and sluggishness issues. That’s the problem.
Right now I have a bnf Flylens 85 with O4 lite making its way to me on a slow boat. I'd love to tell you what it's like, but I fear we could be in the month of April before it arrives...
You saw my indoor flight… No Jello. Then you saw my flight after the drone was heated up, No Jello. If others are getting Jello or vibrations it is either due to COLD or they have at least one prop that is damaged or not properly balanced.
Beginner question. I own the avata 2 with the dji goggles 3 and rc 3. I also use LiftOff to train as i already crashed the avata trying to do a power loop😅
My question is, how can i keep my rates if i change controllers or drones. On liftoff i have betaflight, race, etc and actual. Actual are my dji rc3 rates. How can i keep them or transfer the same rates to betaflight? Or if i'll change the controller to a radiomaster...how do i make them stay the same to what i'm used to?
You would have to MANUALLY change the rates/PIDS for each non-DJI FPV Drone you fly, within BETAFLIGHT.

That is a very common question (read all the comments below). The answer is PROBABLY but you need to me in the FPV Hobby and knowledgeable to get it to work. As a beginner to understanding how everything works together you will be at a loss. The ELRS RECEIVER is part of the FLIGHT CONTROLLER on the FEMTO, so that means you can not physically disconnect it, so the FLIGHT CONTROLLER ignores the DJI RECEIVER. I believe you’d have to go into BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and turn UARTS on and off. I have no idea which ones. My advice is to buy an ELRS remote from RADIOMASTER or JUMPER (If you get the RADIOMASTER POCKET ELRS RADIO) then you can watch my video showing how to add a model to the radio, bind to a drone & set it up in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR. The DJI Remote 2 & 3 is a very limited remote and not many people use it in the FPV Hobby so think about getting a programable ELRS remote and teaching yourself how to use it.

If you are new to drones outside DJI, then I will say the following. It will work with your DJI Goggles 3, but not with your DJI FPV Remote 3… unless you are knowledgeable in the hobby and know what UARTS to change within BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR.

Thanks, Steve, this is tempting! Now as for the name, femto is a prefix meaning 10 ^-15. Pico is 10^-12. So they represent very small things maybe?
I do have a question. I have no ELRS radio but I do have the dji FPV RC3. What would I need to unplug or re-route on the FC of this drone to make it just work with my setup? Would I need to solder? I am a beginner and not super handy, like, at all.

Thanks for the info ref FEMTO. As for using your DJI FPV REMOTE 3, normally I’d say “sure go ahead”, but on this drone, the ELRS receiver is part of the Flight Controller, which means it can’t be unsoldered. My guess is you’d have to go into BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and change the UARTS…. Don’t ask me which ones as I have no idea. If you ask BETAFPV they may help in that regard, or they may already have the answer in one of their help files online.

What goggles does the O4 light work with? I have the DJI Goggle 2 and DJI Goggle v2 , does any of these work with it? Or do I have to buy a third DJI Goggle? xD
I have the Pico, it's really brittle, had to glue the plastic around the propps a lot of times (skill issue). It seams from your review that this is more solid? Great review and video, thank you sir :)
The entire DJI 04 system works with GOGGLES 3, GOGGLES N3, GOGGLES 2 and GOGGLES INTEGRA.

The O4 should work with DJI Goggles 3, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the DJI RC3. Do you know if it works?
If I recall correctly…DJI 04 is compatible with Goggles 3, Goggles 2, Goggles N3, Goggles INTEGRA, Remote 2 and Remote 3.

I come from the school of thought that you can never advertized a brand enough. I used to send stickers all over the world to viewers and for many years when friends would travel the world they would come across a CAPTAIN DRONE sticker now and then.

Yes, but it is not SIMPLE. Since the ELRS receiver is part of the flight controller, it means you can’t physically disconnect it and use the DJI Receiver. I believe you’d have to go into BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and change a few settings such as the UARTS.

Unfortunately the answer is no. You see about 1 million people before you asked the same question, so I’m all out of drones. I get asked the same question “please give me your unused drones” question at least 5 times each day.

The ONLY FPV Goggles that work are the DJI Goggles 3 or 2, as well as INTEGRA and as well as the N3. For a RADIO you require an ELRS RADIO, like the RADIOMASTER POCKET.

instantly ordered btw with a N3 google ... finally getting into it after practising with a radiomaster controller on a simulator for a while now.
You can use any 2s battery that is 850 or less with an XT30 connector. You just need to cut the center of the battery holder to make them fit.

How are these little drones in the wind?
When you fly in ACRO mode, you can fly in almost any type of wind level. Normally only the beginner type GPS Camera drones are the ones affected by wind since they are trying to stabilize themselves. When flying an FPV drone in ACRO mode, the pilot is in full control and there is no assistance from the drone.
But if I want to use my DJI controller 3 and this only comes with ELRS, I can’t? Or it doesn’t matter?
Do you mean the DJI FPV Remote 3? You could use it vice an ELRS Radio, but you’d have to be knowledgeable as to what UARTS to turn on and off. I’m sure someone will try it and post a video.

Bell 206 is newer than Airwolf, so GPS is better. Apache is smaller in size. All are good for a beginner, just pick the one you like.

what is a good 2s battery charger for the battery with a xt30 connector
I have reviewed a ton of RC Battery chargers. Any battery charger designed for 2S to 8S or 2S to 6S will do fine.
When you just fly 2s get the VIFLY ToothStor. Cheap and can charge 4 batteries independently at once.
Don't be confused about the connector, the ToothStor just uses the balancer plug which is enough for this small batteries.

hello, I have a simple question, I have the BetaFPV Pavo Femto drone in the shopping cart. I have a question about whether it is compatible with the DJI FPV Controller 3?
The answer is… I’m not sure. This is because the ELRS RECEIVER is part of the FLIGHT CONTROLLER so it can’t be physically disconnected, which is why they don’t offer the drone as a PNP version. So in order for the FLIGHT CONTROLLER to talk to the DJI RECEIVER, my guess is you’d have to change the UARTS in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR. Most people that fly FPV Drones will own an ELRS Programmable Radio with quality joysticks (once you use one, you’ll never go back to the DJI FPV Remote). This is why often, companies don’t offer the PNP versions because ELRS is a more solid connection than the DJI connection. RADIO MASTER and JUMPER make the most popular ones if you are interested. But… be aware of two things: Most radios do not come with batteries, and when you own a real RC Radio, you then have to learn how to set up a model in it (so, a bit of a learning curve), and of course you have to setup the drone in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you For the answer, in the meantime I clarified, it is compatible with DJI FPV Controller 3, adjustments are made in the BetaFpv application and it is switched to Sbus mode. about the native ELRS controller, I'm also considering buying one, only the DJI one is compatible with my other drones at the moment, I'll probably get one from BetaFpv or a Commando 8 Radio Transmitter ELRS V2

UNKNOWN because the ELRS RECEIVER is part of the FLIGHT CONTROLLER, so in order to NOT use that RECEIVER and instead use the DJI 04 RECEIVER so that you could use the DJI FPV REMOTE 3, you’d probably have to go into BETAFLIGHT and turn OFF some UARTS, and turn ON others. Don’t ask me what UARTS.
What is the difference between this and a DJI neo in manual mode? Not that I like DJI but I want a longer battery life than five minutes.
The NEO is designed for people with no skills, so when you put it in manual mode it has all the weight of the components designed for beginners so it flies like crap (as shown in my FPV Review of the NEO)

I bought one coming from avata 2. First flight after about 10 hours in the simulator I immediately smashed the ceiling and wall lol.
Decided to put in a throttle limit of 50% and its so much easier now 😂

One thing that bugs me about these Chinese drone companies, and that's the manuals always seem to be an after thought. When I got my Emax Nanohawk, there was no manual available, and it's the same with this drone. Emax emailed me the manual for the Nanohswk in the end.
We are all lucky that ANYTHING shows up in English from these small Chinese companies. If they produced an ENGLISH manual it would be next to unintelligible.

Is there batteries included with it Steve, it doesn't mention them in the what's included? I just ordered one anyway, it was only £88 without the air unit, free shipping to the UK too, £88 is $104 US, which seems incredibly good value. I've been looking for a decent quad that can be bought without a VTX, and they are kind of hard to find TBH. I just hope I can shoehorn my Avatar in there. I might end up getting DJI googles in the future, I'm using the Eachine 300D for analog and I have a standalone VRX, that I velcro on to the front of my goggles for digital. You look an idiot wearing FPV googles anyway, so having a wee box velcroed to them makes no difference, lol.
@@yakacm The answer regarding the batteries to that question is in what I say to the camera just before showing the unboxing. 😂. It is a small frame which is why it is made for the DJI 04 Lite system which is extremely small in size so I’m not sure if you’d have success with squishing in a large VTX.

Very easy to fly so yes, but obviously as a beginner you will need to know how to setup a model in a radio as well as known how to use a RC Battery charger, and finally speed hours learning to fly FPV.

My camera canopy cracked before it ever got up in the air. On first arm one of the props popped off …the quad toppled off my car onto the concrete and the canopy cracked. It was totally ridiculous/fragile. On top of that it’s the worst flying quad betafpv has ever put out, I’m a huge betafpv fan, I have most of their quads. I love betafpv. I fly one of their quads probably everyday. My son has the Aquila analog… I’d say it flies a lot like that does. Same feel. Not precise and sort of lumbering.

Someone else said in another videos comments that it was bad. I was thinking of buying one in April. If they don’t come with a v2, should I not buy it as is?
Are you talking about the new DJI 04 version of the FEMTO? I ask because they only shipped them out last week. Also, as noted in my video, I stepped on it, I melted it, and there are no cracks.
@ I am. I got mine last Friday. I’ve since replaced the mount with the flywoo 04 mount and found I have less wobbles but the footage is still largely unviewable. After the canopy cracked (not bad) I had 2 pretty cool flights but I found it very floaty, not precise I don’t know how else to describe it but it felt like flying the Aquila.,I look forward to trying other bnf out because I can’t tell if my wonky 04 footage is the 04 or the tune on the femto. I have the flybee and the meteor 75 versions waiting to try at home once the wind lets up here.
@ I’m uploading my favorite flight with it. My flight experiences are just very inconsistent and involve a lot of wobble/jello/ and poor responsiveness of the quad. I trust v2 will be better
saying your drone flies oerfectky after having melted it and the props . that makes me not trust you lol
You just told everyone you were not paying attention. The plastic is the prop guards and has nothing to do with the frame, which is made of carbon fibre and does not melt.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 the propellers warp from heat. Because they are thin at the edge. If it melted any part of the drone then it melted the props. Propellers melt and warp verry easily. Even a hair drier will warp it.

Coming for sure. Be patient. Its still holiday in china. Many release with O4 to come. Manufacturers just need to adjust to the O4.
@chrisbee5481 Yes, I know that at the moment the Chinese Lunar Year is happening these days until February 4th. But all little leaks are really appreciated 😂😂😂
