    Sometimes, you get a cool rental car. I rented a 2017 Dodge Challenger R/T (www.dodge.com/challenger) from National (www.nationalcar.com), complete with a 375 HP Hemi engine. Here's a drive and review of this cool, retro muscle car.
    As an Executive-level member of National's Emerald Club, in major airports I can go right to the Executive section of the car lot and pick any car I want. This Challenger R/T was one of the options. No waiting, no standing in line at the counter, I go right to the car and go.

    Nothing looks as badass and beastly as a challenger. I'll take one over a camaro or mustang any day. Challengers are also more practical.

    No fake sound enhancement in the Challenger. I gather BMW, Audi and Ford do that - fake engine sounds piped through the stereo system. I rented a 5.7 RT before buying a 6.4L RT Scat Pack last year. The 5.7 is fun, but the 6.4L is waaay more fun! :)

    Hi! What is exact difference in feeling between this one and 3.6? I mean there is not a big difference in hp, not very big difference in 0-60 times but there is significant difference in torque. I assume that this transfers into low end torque sensations. I'm only guessing so please confirm or contradict my thoughts but I get the feeling that in 5.7 you touch the pedal slightly and you feel (and hear) that the power is there. You don't have to step on it to feel that. So when you drive in town and you can't really attack the gas pedal 3.6 must seem slow and heavy because he needs rpms to show his potential whereas 5.7 is like a sleeping beast all the time. Am I right?

    • @FreddySherman
      @FreddySherman  6 лет назад

      I haven't driven the 3.6 Dodge but I think you are exactly right. I have driven the V6 Camaro and a 3.6 Charger and again, you've got it, the smaller engine needs to work harder. Both are also affected by whether you have the car in Sport mode. I think you need to drive both if you're thinking of buying one or the other, to see if the feel and power is worth the extra money and slightly lower MPG. Thank you for watching!

    • @BradFriday
      @BradFriday 6 лет назад +1

      I have the 5.7 hemi in my 09 Challenger and the 3.6 pentastar in my Jeep Wrangler. The 3.6 is a great engine, I quite like it in my Jeep, but the 5.7 in my Challenger is a really kick ass! The 1/4 mile time difference between your average SE and R/T will be about 1.3-1.5 seconds difference, which is a fair bit. The best part about the 5.7 is the 410 lb/ft of torque. You can spin the tires until they explode or do doughnuts for days if you wanted, the power is there. Not only that, the torque really makes the car feel fast as well. If I take my car around 3000rpm and then hammer it, it really pins you back in your seat and the sound is great the whole time as well. Having said that some guys with the 3.6 SE's have gotten 14.6's out of them stock which is pretty good for a heavy car with a V6.

    • @FreddySherman
      @FreddySherman  6 лет назад

      I agree, there's no substitute for torque!

    • @JohnJones-cg2xm
      @JohnJones-cg2xm 5 лет назад +1

      0-60 is 4.9-5.0 in the 5.7 and about 6.4 in the v6. That's a big difference. The sound is night and day, but you have to get the right year with the right exhaust. My 15 5.7 was dead silent like an 80 Cadillac or a Lexus. So quiet you couldn't tell if it was even running. I had to get a custom exhaust to hear it. I think they fixed that in 2017. They don't need to pipe in sound with a big v8. Not sure what this guy was thinking. Doesn't seem to know anything about cars. If you get an R/T get it with super track pack. It's night and day. I'd get a scat pack if I had it to do over again. It's a lot faster once you get going, it sounds better, and has far better throttle response.

    • @1989cadiman
      @1989cadiman 4 года назад

      John Jones how about gas mileage in the city? I’m deciding between getting a used RT or the RT with the scat pack . I currently drive a 2011 v6 mustang and get 17 to the gallon. I also live in Chicago too where traffic can be a fuckn nightmare lol

    • @FreddySherman
      @FreddySherman  3 года назад

      You are missing the length of the loan @ 600 a month. If you have good credit, the interest rate should be almost 0. So if your loan is $27,000 for 48 months, then 600 a month is OK.
