I really appreciate you using mics and speakers. I know its more work, but you can hear more of the little nuances of the amp better IMO. Thanks again Shawn, and great playing as always!
How every amp Demo should be handled. This amp strikes me as just nearly perfect from channel to channel. The gain character is straight down thf middle, neutral without being boring. Great bark and bite yet still thick and warm.
I know all of the years that you have studied, worked and master your craft. The hours and years of blood, sweat and tears to get where you are as an artist and player…but you always make everything you play look so effortless, so smooth as it is all just an extension of YOU! Love your playing and the tone coming through this New REVV 50! Exquisite!!! I do believe however with a guitar in your hands, SHAWN… you could make my old “coffee can” speakers that I made in the early ‘70’s sound as if it were Jimmy Page playing through a vintage Supro!😉 Hats off and Kudos to you, you Never disappoint! 🙏😇⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Revv G50 product meeting: “Guys - did we think of literally everything we could jam into an amp???” Unbelievable looking and sounding amp, and again as we’ve come to expect your playing hit it out of the park Shawn!
Been gigging my Generator 7-40 Mk2 for years, and for playing in a covers band it's perfect... well *almost* perfect. Have to admit I've been eyeing the big 120 Mk3 for all those nice modern features. As well as modes on the green channel, the channel I actually find the most useful for band use on the old one. But the 120 is simply too much amp for me, and I had a sneaky suspicion something like this would eventually be coming up. Perhaps it's finally time for an amp upgrade... Thanks Revv guys for answering my prayers! :)
Man, this amp has the tone I have in my head not to mention the features. I am kinda a traditionalist when it comes to tube amps but for playing at home and jamming this has it all. Modelling hasn’t worked out and I have tried. Oh yeah thanks for using a cab, most amp reviews these days are with IR’s, not always a bad thing but I would be using it with both. Your playing is insane too 😮
Good God. Between you and those recently released videos of Dann Huff I feel like giving up !!! Your playing and composition is Sick !!! I love this amp. I’m going to check the cost now. Thank you Shawn.
Thank you for making this video. It's such a great break down of what the amp can do and your tone is absolutely amazing! The only thing that was worrying me is that channel 2 shares a EQ control with channel one but it looks like the added switch (brightness, wide) allow you to shape them further alongside the aggression functions. I'm looking to buy an amp where I can dial in a super clean channel, slight crunch channel and high gain proggy lead sound. Looks like this is the one for me!
@@MrCalenture awesome, enjoy!!! I am loving mine!! I’m torn on what cab/speaker to get for it. I mostly play it thru the two notes out but I want to have a cab for it for the special occasion. What did you go with?
@@kylefletcher8489 Before I had a clue of how good REVV stuff was, I had invested in Suhr PT 15 IR ..and the matching PT 2x12 Cab. Not that Suhr is not top of the line so very excited about that as well but I do think I will also invest in the Revv 2x12. I love the idea of custom colors and it sounds amazing as well!!!
Do you think maybe you could do another video...maybe a short...where you demo the amp with the Two Notes feature? I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to hear it.
Revv just keeps getting better and better. And the sounds are wonderful! One question: I have the Revv G4 pedal...in your demo of it, you said the blue and red aggression modes not only up the gain, but also change the "EQ curve"......is that also happening on the amp?
The magic of Shawn Tubbs. Another killer track! I too agree that using mics and cabinet sounds the best to my ears. Shawn just curious what mic preamps do you use (i.e. Neve)? The guitar tones you achieved through this recording are just stellar. Also, will you be coming to Cosmo fest this summer in Toronto? It would be such an honour to meet you in person. Stay well Shawn.
Probably a stupid question but Does the Generator 50 have the Revv D20 and G20 amps in it? I love the Revv pedals and am thinking of going with a Generator 50. I play in a classic rock cover band it and sounds like it would do everything I need. Is there much tone difference in the Generator 50 compared to the smaller heads?
Not at all a stupid question. The G50 is part of the Generator amp series. The REVV G2, G3 and G4 pedals are all based on the Generator 120 channels. The G50 has a very open and clear sounding clean channel. The second channel is more vintage. The G2 would be similar. Channel 3 is more modern/vintage high gain. The G3 would be similar.
@ Thanks Shawn, I have contacted the place I bought it from, they are contacting Revv importers. There is hiss on all channels, the noise gate reduces a bit. Also I am playing at bedroom volumes too. Turning the blue channel right up it gets really loud. I replaced the speaker cable, didn’t help. There are also pops when changing modes and turning on noise gate. Thanks mate.
10 watts = whisper mode 😂😂😂 10 watts can still be too loud for an apartment with neighbors. Thank God the imbedded two notes allows for truly silent recording and practice.
I’m trying to decide between the D40 and the G50… I’m not a high gain player, so naturally I’m gravitating towards the D40… BUT, I prefer the overdrive section of the D40, but the clean channel of the G50… is the G50 able to get more of the vintage overdrive tones like the D40? Or is it pretty much high gain? Thanks!
Hmmmm.... that's a booger. You can, if you dial the D40 clean channel for a minute, get close to the G50. It would be more difficult to get channel 2, the "green channel" on the G50 to sound vintage like the D40. In my humble opinion, based on the parameters given, I'd go with the D40. Thanks for the question!
Another album (Demolition 2) of your demo tracks please... Pretty please? ... Extra pretty please?! .... Extra, as in I'm begging you, pretty please???!!!

My thoughts exactly ! 👍 😊
I think this amplifier was very happy to transmit one of its first sounds ever under Shawn's hands :)
D40 and G50 are incredible amps. What a win streak. Great demo once again.

Sounds awesome Shawn! I've been looking into the D40 since it came out but now the G50 is also on my radar. 😎
Great video, liked your jam at start. Definitely an Amp to Aspire owning. REV V keeps making new favorite! Cheers
Wow, I loved the intro track, you really hit it out of the park with this one! The G50 ain't the only Rock Machine in this video!

I was convinced I needed a D40 after watching your video…now I’m pretty sure l’ll be needing one of these as well. Great demos Shawn!!
Same. How do you pick?

Fantastic playing, Shawn!

Dang, proton torpedos full spread. Excellent, musical shredulations. I would love to gig one of these.
Sweet little amp. Thanks Shawn
I’m sold. Got one on order. Can’t wait.
just got my custom yesterday!! waiting on my speaker cab

This amp and a Friedman BE-100 deluxe and you cover every rock tone from 1967 to 2030.

Yes, the pedals are based on the amp channels.

Thanks for using a cab

Thanks! I’ll love that guitar!
Great sounds....even with a suhr....
Awesome video!!!
Sorry to double post but I recently got this amp, sounds great but the blue ch seems to have a bit of hiss, is this normal? I can't hear it here.
The blue channel shouldn't hiss. I would reach out to REVV. It's most likely a bad V1 valve.
@ Thanks Shawn, I have contacted the place I bought it from, they are contacting Revv importers. There is hiss on all channels, the noise gate reduces a bit. Also I am playing at bedroom volumes too. I kept pushing Dan for a three channel amp, i meant three power amps not pre amp channels but this fiddy definitely rocks!

Can d20 (g20) with g3+g4 pedals comparable in sound to g50? For studio recording with mic?
