    It’s likely that they are trying to pass off the power *consumption* rating, as if it was the output rating. They are both rated in watts, but an amp that draws 50 watts from the AC outlet only puts out a fraction of that.

    Sounds ok, looks good, way under powered though for sure. Ide say fifteen watts max. I have a 30 watt Rogue I run a Boss GT-8 through with an upgraded 12" speaker that is loud enough to play outside with a whole band and I can't turn it past 40%. Its ugly though and I use the FX return only. Just power section. Embarrassing to look at but totally surprises everyone. I had to squeeze the speaker in barely. Tiny but mighty. Good stuff subscribed now. Keep em coming.

  • @bluwng
    @bluwng 3 месяца назад

    Watt measurement isn’t the same for a processing sold state amp it’s like using Watts for light bulb to measure luminosity. I do agree the perception is it should be loud and it also doesn’t make sense since solid state requires less power.

    • @j-man9457
      @j-man9457  3 месяца назад

      Yeah I understand about the variables on Wattage as Volume. It will differ for sure. But yes the consensus is with any amp marketed at 50 watts, that it's going to be decently loud. This one is definitely not loud hahaha. Even the speaker does not have a rating printed on it🤔

    when fender made their tonemaster princeton reverb which is the solid state version of the 12 watt tube version they had to make it 50 solid state watts to have the same output as the 12 watts tube original princeton reverb .. so when guys say a watt is a watt no matter what ask em why they did that ..and what you'll get is duhh uhh eeeeeeeeeeeee........ so no ss is not the same as tube watts ..they're fine for what they are and some of em even sound kinda good .. but they ain't even half as loud .. i have a an old ampeg jet .. 15 watts .. i have a crate dxb which was their version of the line 6 flextone .. 30 watts with a closed back 12 inch speaker ..and it cannot keep up with the 15 watt jet .. i also had the 60 watt version of the dx called the dx jr ..and that one mighta been able to hang with the jet .. maybe .. great effects tho so i do like the dx baby .. its just not made to hang with a 15 watt tube amp like say a blues jr .. or a pro jr .. but for hangin in the livin room its fine .. just don't ever expect a ss to match a tube amp .. if you go by the princeton you need 4 times the ss watts to match the 12 tube watts .. with other ss amps ehh ..your milage may vary but it will probably be in that 3 to 4 times as many ss watts to hang with a real tube amp ..just how it is .. remember the peavey bandits ?? like 65 ss watts and you could gig with em ..lottsa dudes did back in the late 70's and 80's .. i think they did up em to 75 watts tho at some point and that version could probably hang with a deluxe reverb 22 tube watts .. but i wouldn't expect much more from it .. hope that helps ..

      Thanks, and yes I realize the difference however at 50watts, and full volume, you shouldn't be able to talk over it hahaha. I have a 25 watt Quilter superblock that will overpower a drummer easily with a single 12 inch cab at 1/2 volume. This should at least do that at 50 watts no?🤔

    • @JoeBaermann

      100 and 120W Class A/B Solid State is ear deafening loud, class D needs quite a lot more to get there, like 600-700W.
      It comes down to the design, try a SuperCrush 120 or PedalBaby 100 and then tell me that they can’t keep up with a 100W Tubehead.
      We play with a very loud drummer, Volume 11 o’clock with the signal going into the powersection at unity gain is enough on a PedalBaby going to 2 x 16ohm cabs (8ohm total load).
      Not the lightest solution, but lighter than most big ampheads.
      Tried an older Randall head some time ago, it can also get loud but with the total load down at 4ohm, which where it’s max. W. is taken from.
      That 50W Coolmusic might be 50W at lower impedance, but I would just return it anyway, since they probably didn’t include which loads the power section is able to take, something that always should checked before connecting other cabs and speakers.

    That “Reverb” is obviously not a spring reverb… Heck, it’s not even decently implemented as a digital effect-it sounds more like a digital delay on steroids… It’s seriously HORRIBLE!!!! I hate to say it, but this is clearly a JUNK product. Even if they are cheating in their marketing by using 50 watts PEAK instead of RMS, 50 watts peak should still be loud enough that you couldn’t be heard casually talking over it that way! Even my old 1980’s Peavey Backstage Plus, at 35 watts, is far louder than that. If you’re looking for a cheap amp for band practice, you might be better off getting something like a used Peavey Backstage Plus… GREAT mid-sized amp, if you don’t mind cleaning the pots in it, which isn’t too hard to do. There’s also the Peavey Bandit (65-80 watts, depending on which version you get), if you need more volume for your band practice-that’s a real classic! I don’t know if Monoprice is available in Canada, but they make a decent 40 watt solid state amp, too.

      @@darwinsaye You know, you could very well be right-maybe they used the Input Power as the source of their 50 watt claim… In the pictures on their Amazon listing, I don’t see any actual specs anywhere, just “Unique 50 / 50 Watt Guitar Amplifier” printed on the back, so it’s entirely possible. Regardless, it’s still dishonest marketing, as it doesn’t give a true idea of what kind of output one can expect from it. The Input Power should ALWAYS be a bit higher than either the Max Output OR the RMS Output ratings, owing to the conversion losses, switching losses, and various other energy losses typical in these kinds of circuits. Bottom line though is: The RMS output rating is the ONLY rating that matters if you want to know how loud the amplifier can get though, and I wouldn’t trust a company that used anything else!
