the peace of mind you get when all of your debt is gone is exhilarating ... stop trying to "game" the system. Just pay off all of your debt.

Thank you Rachel and John. I don’t have a mortgage and our vehicles are paid off, but I so relate to the clutter and all of books calling my name. It definitely is never too late. I’m 70 and I’m moving, I think, in the right direction. I’m donating and selling, trying to assess my items to decide what I can live without. Every bag, that goes to Goodwill, makes me feel a bit better.😀

We followed the plan and now we are debt free other than our mortgage. We are working on that. It did require spending a few years of budgeting hardcore and sacrificing but sooooo worth it. We no longer have to worry about what happens if one of us loses our job. And we now get to enjoy our money like never before!

Good info. And some of it can also be what you are used to...
I'm getting closer to retirement, and I still find myself frequently nervous about finances.
The good thing is that every time I sit down and run the numbers, I relax and go "No, I am actually good..."
But then (and it could even be just the next day) something else will come up and I will think "Oh no! I must have done the math wrong and/or didn't consider this new thing..."
And then I'll be worried, because I was raised being worried about money, until I sit down again and run the numbers...
Even tho intellectually I can "know" I am OK, my innate reaction to any new thought is "I must have done something wrong and we must be financially in trouble..."
Knowing you are OK can be different from accepting that you are OK...
Especially if you were raised worrying about money and spent a lot of your life worrying about money...
I don't yet know if that I will eventually learn to accept that things are OK, or if that worry will just always be a part.
(and if so, that's not a huge deal... that worry isn't destroying me... it's not that level... but I'd rather not have it..) ;-)

What does she know about owing money, or having money troubles, she was born into an extremely rich family and now she follows in her father’s footsteps, I really can’t understand how people take her seriously, John on the other hand is the man, the guy has actually went through some serious struggles and has actual tough life experience, so I’ll always have a ton of respect for him
