One thing most people miss. During his confession, Ned said something like, "let the High Septon and Baelor the Blessed bear witness to my words. Jeoffrey is the one true king..." etc. The High Septon and Baelor are both figures from the Faith of the Seven. Ned worships the Old Gods. He "swore" his false oath by a religion he doesn't follow.
yooo i’ve been watching this show since it came out and watched probably at least 50 reactors do the whole show. this never once occurred to me. it did occur to me that he doesn’t follow those gods, but i figured it was just a formality.

@@bigw725 I suppose it may have been just that, but it never read that way to me. It seemed like it was his way of not actually lying. And maybe even signaling to his people, or anyone else smart enough to notice that it wasn't actually true.
@@renlyspeach7622 yeah i like your interpretation better. or maybe it’s both, which would be perfect. he could observe the political norms of his environment since he’s already lying on his honor to protect his family, but also clearly not mean it to those smart enough to notice.

Ned said "Baelor" to Yoren, the guy from the Night's Watch because he saw Arya hiding near the statue of Baelor.
He was telling him "go save my daughter". Yoren had already met Arya on a previous episode ("I'm a girl!"), so he recognized her and he shielded her and made absolutely sure she never saw Ned being beheaded.

@@SnailLordNeonI think Sam is more understandable in the books. With how they show his childhood.Also he pulled some major manipulations in Night’s Watch politics. He’s super annoying but he does most of the same annoying things. They just gloss over some of it in the show.

This episode was doubly shocking when it aired because Sean Bean was the best known star in the show (from Lord of the Rings among many other things) and Ned had seemed to be the most important character. Killing him let everyone who hadn't read the books know that this show was going to be epic and that nobody was safe. Love your reactions, guys, intelligent, perceptive and funny! I'll be here on Friday for sure!

The zoom in to his furious face killed me. You had Hobbes reacting energetically like, “Wow! I kinda can’t believe this!” vibe. Then the close up of Devin looking like some ancient statue of raw rage and the deadpan, “Shut it off.” That was gold.
The thing about Tyrions story is Jamie was doing a nice thing for his little bro. He didn’t think Tyrion would ask her to marry him the next day. He just wanted his brother to feel important and lose his virginity.
I love the dichotomy of Tyrion showing both political and military prowess as well as incredible charisma, like his father, and Tywin being blind to it by his arrogance.
I don’t think he‘s blind to it so much as that it eats him up inside that the son to inherit his scheme and strategy skills is the son he loathes so much. He‘s wilfully ignorant to it.
‘Ja Morant’ is crazy😂
The scene where Aemon Targaryen is revealed is one of my favorite of the entire series. Where he gets the little wisp of regality back in his old bones, fantastic. The actor did a great job.

While you guys are going through this try to imagine having to wait a week between episodes, or a year (sometimes more) between seasons, it was wild.

The sad part, besides poor Ned getting beheaded, is that the beheading was done with valyrian steel sword "Ice", the sword of House Stark that has been in their possession for centuries. The first time we saw it was in the first episode when Ned used it on the Night's Watch deserter.

Ned was played by Sean Bean, who is famous for dying in most of his movies. He played Boromir in Lord of the Rings, maybe 10 years before GOT. He’s a great actor especially suited for these knights-in-armor medieval roles.

I remember first watching this season when I was 13-14y/o, this is giving me nostalgia.
In the books Tyrion actually fights and takes down a knight, man is tougher then his show counterpart.
I started watching this show when it was just in the second season, and you really learn what it is to really fear for the characters, there is no one safe, and I was the same "no, he can't die, someone is going to do something for sure." , but no, r.i.p. Ned. Very good reaction guys, the truth is I'm watching all the videos on your channel, they are the best.

I was wondering if y'all were planning on watching the Histories and Lore videos? If you were not informed of them, I would highly recommend them after each season. It gives the viewers a deeper connection to the universe and is actually voiced by the cast, so it is fully endorsed by the show. Also, I don't remember if they say but Tywin made Tyrion essentially rape Tysha and pay her a gold dragon since a Lannister is worth more. Also, I don't think Jaime expected his little bro to fall in love and marry her after a night together

Yes, they explain so much, and fill in the gaps. The actors are the story tellers, and I love when different characters give their own various views on the same subjects sometimes. I wish I'd known about them back in the day.
Nah the book version of that story with Tyrion is somewhat different than in the show in a pretty significant way. The gold dragon didn’t happen in the show version
But yes they gotta watch the histories and lore! It explains so many important aspects of Roberts rebellion
