Congrats! It's been a dream of mine to metal detect the UK for many years. Here in the US we're just not old enough and we're pretty limited in what we find. You guys got so much things going on in your background, Celtic, Roman, and all the other hammered stuff my God! I wish you the best and hope you find some more take care!
well done Cleggie .you deserved that hoard for all the enjoyment you've given us through the years. your proud smile as you showed us your gold coin at the end spoke volumes about you. keep 'em comin'g mate.
I always tend to think those coins were hidden under rocks to be collected later, but failed to, then clegg comes along centuries later and shows them to us, unreal!!
I think Andrew Watts made a very good point in his comment. As you were pulling out some of those bits of rock, I thought to myself that they didn't look like random rubble, but something from some sort of structure.
Yup. That "useless bit of rock" he grumbles about could be part of a building. Hope there's coordination between Clegg and archaeologists to learn more about the site. (It's not just about the hoard.)
Congratulations Mr. Clegg. Your persistence on the hunts certainly paid off. As the ole saying goes, “good things come those who wait”. I’m sure those jars will be sweet tonight. Cheers on your finds!
though I had some problem with sea water It also ruclips.net/user/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn
I have never been so happy seeing another person digging treasures Iike I was watching you. I was praying for gold for you. I’m a new sub and I love your videos.
Thanks for taking us detecting with you. Appreciate your keeping the view for us to see it at the angle you do. Great finds!! The gold is amazing! Good on ya! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Mike Kelly This man hacks and chops his way through the turf to the extent that it simply sets my teeth on edge!!! He left the field looking like a moonscape and then spouts this crap about think he didn’t think the archaeologist wouldn’t want to bother digging the site because of the inconvenience of having to excavate under rocks??? Is he f’ing kidding?? And when he start hitting pottery shards I was furious!!! I wanted to throttle that wretched little troll!!
EpicChannel I love archaeology and the time and care spent in carefully removing an artifact in situ. Metal detecting is a far cry from that profession, so maybe I should just shut up and go away instead of suffering fools!!
@@nickandlaurihyde Stop being so angry as i can actually see your point. I am only about a year into metal detecting and honestly i was looking for some WW2 history in the place i live. I knew enough that i GPS anything i couldn't identify. I realised after a did that i had dug up an immaculate bronze age palstave. I contacted the local museum. The thing is that this has made me research like crazy and learn about what i should be doing if i incounter archaeology. Well done Cleggy, you must have been really excited finding all those hammereds in one spot, I'm not surprised you was shaking a bit, so would I... Well saved bud..👍🤓
I am so happy for you. You have worked so hard and deserve this. Your emotions were incredible. We could all feel your excitement. Thank you so much for sharing this
Took me 2 hrs to watch this vid , been there seen it , done it , I know what it feels like , shaking in your boots like a leaf and they just keep comeing up one after another . Amazing feeling . I hope there’s more there for you .well done and thank you for shareing
Well done Cleggy. When you find out the date of the coins you'll then have to have a look in to the history of that area and see what was there at that time. I'm sure if you put a shout out to some trainee archaeologist they'd help dig over that area. Look forward to the next video.
Mr Clegg your little hammy that was stuck to the rock , well you broke it on the rock and left a rather large piece of it there , it fell when you carelessly tossed the rock please be more careful on the future , love your channel still 🇨🇦👍🏻
Congratulations Cleggy! So pleased for you 👍. You deserve it for all the hard work you put in and all the entertainment you give us. Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
Chill Bill sent me and I am pleased he did. Congratulations on your awesome discoveries. I hope it’s not a find of a lifetime and you do discover more some day. I’ll be following. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the sub! Just before the lockdown I found a Anglo-Saxon Spear head and 7 months ago an Anglo-Saxon gold coin so I'm making plenty of lifetime discoveries 😀
"That water is a bit choppy!" What a beautiful hoard of coins! I can tell you there would be no more water in the cup after the first couple of coins if I had dug that hoard. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing it with us!
Thanks so much for this! Not much of a chance that something this exciting would ever happen to me but it's sure fun to go along for the ride. Excellent, sir. Much continued luck! And skill!
Congratulations on the hoard Cleggy it took a while but finally happened, just goes to show you hard work and perseverance pays off, bravo👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍺🍺💖🇦🇺
Your channel was recommended by Chill Bill, so I popped over to have a look and I'm so glad I did . What a fantastic find Cleggy, well done, I have subscribed and will be binge watching your previous videos, no doubt into the wee small hours, they are addictive :)
Those rocks looked placed and the nail you found looked hand forged and very old then that brass plate. Maybe a box? The plough must have spread things out too! Nicely done. That tiny wee coin stuck to the rock, amazing!

Hello from The US. I just came acrossed you somehow. I'm a big fan of metal detecting and you just tickle me. Your so fortunate to have such a old country to explore. You hit the mother load Its amazing I would pitch a tent too, no kidding. Your on to something there. Sooooo happy for you !!!! Cheers drink one for me too !!!!!
Super interesting and very excited for you. Looks like you're down on building rubble. Do you know what house/building it might be (yes or no is fine, not looking to find location)?
Sweet , You just uncover the forever lost treasures , nice to resurrected and bring back from endless dead this back to the living world and saved from destruction
The groat that was found first with the head facing left and the stars on the reverse is a David II of Scotland groat (1367-1371). I think it was in part 1.
So chuffed for you Cleggy. No one deserves this more than you for all the hours and hours of detecting you have put in. Amazing well done! 👌

Absolutely, those are worked, sharp edged, building stones. someone needs to do a survey of that field
Wonder if this area was an ancient trading center, where people could have accidentally lost coins in the midst of buying goods.
Dana Wrigley yes l wondered that too
Grave cover?

Have you tried around Nunney Castle? It's near Frome.

Idk if you noticed but you left a piece of it on the rock... The brittleness of it caused it to break off when you lifted it off.
