- Los Angeles, CA - July 9, 2024: On Tuesday, Los Angeles Police Officers issued a citation for illegal camping near the Venice Beach Boardwalk on Ozone Avenue, in accordance with Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) Section 41.18. This section of the code prohibits sitting, lying, or sleeping in public areas, including locations like the Venice Beach Boardwalk. The citation was part of the city’s ongoing efforts to manage homeless encampments and was issued during a significant cleanup operation conducted by a multi-agency task force.
This cleanup targeted a homeless encampment and involved team members from the Los Angeles Police Department, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., and the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). The operation is part of a broader city initiative aimed at addressing homelessness while maintaining public health and safety, ensuring compliance with city ordinances designed to keep public spaces accessible and safe for all.
These efforts are conducted regularly, with the goal of balancing enforcement with support services to effectively address the complex issue of homelessness in the Venice Beach area.

There are shelters. These people don’t want shelters because they will have rules. Too bad. All law abiding people live by rules.
You are right but some of the rules present a problem. For instance married couples. They cannot stay together. If you have a dog no dog allowed. That becomes a problem also. I can understand some of it.
@@wanaraz excuses excuses. people can live apart for a little bit, and the homeless can't take care of pets properly

That first tent they dealt with? Go have that homeless person set up on the street right in front of Judge Sotomayor’s home because she stated last week, when her vote lost thank God, is homeless people have a right to breathe. Let them breathe at her home.
Such nonsense to let this go by day after day
California has a great climate and a soft-headed approach to vagrants. So of course it's a homeless mecca. Not much you can do about the climate, but you can change your approach to the issue.
What do you want them to do with the homeless sense you say this is nonsense, ANSWER ME! 😡😡

The Supreme Court reaffirmed that cities have the right to remove campers from public spaces. Now we will see how serious public officials are about ending this mess.
They don't have the "there is nothing we can do" excuse to use anymore.
If they fail to act we will know who to directly blame.
Why wasn't the camper removed in Part 2 of this video? Are they giving notices first? Same with Part 1, that tent remained. In a previous video, the man was given three weeks. Came back, still there. Given one extra day. I wonder if that's what happened here.
It rhymes with Nuscance
lol he set up his shit tent right in a parking space
If these idiots would just comply with services provided to them to get off the streets this would not be a problem...
@@ShelterDogs what a useless government, this is insane. Citizens should be able to removed themselves, also isn't that like a private parking lot belonging to the residents there?

If they write a citation, what do they do if he ignores it ? They won't put him in jail.
Rather them not be jailed, but the encampment must be removed. Hopefully it will force the person to go to a shelter. Most homeless don't like shelters because of over crowding and curfews, but shelters weren't meant to be comfortable forever homes.
Vast collection of people's stolen property.
Yep he's been stealing bikes nightly. These people sleep during the day and hunt for theft at night. Over a hundred car windows broke every night in San Francisco. I would say it's really double that. Bums looking to steal.
Word
Why not enforce the laws, arrest those breaking the laws and put them to work cleaning up messes like we see in this video? They also need a drug-sniffing dog to check the tents and illegally parked campers.
Exactly! Why don't they clean up their own mess, they put it there! California still has a no littering law - what happen to that enforcement OR does that only apply to hardworking taxpayers. So sick and tired of this crapp, communities have the RIGHT to live in a SAFE AND CLEAN ENVIRONMENT.
What good does "giving a citation" do??.
SMCU always at the right place at the right time. Keep up the good work!
Maybe a new policy should be that if you are found loitering in an area for a certain amount of time with all your belongings or seen camping anywhere that is banned, you forfeit all those things you have put there illegally. Think that would stop them? Also real jail time for theft.
I hope they checked the serial numbers of those bikes!
"I am a vagrant. I am allowed to set up camp anywhere I want."
True
The desert has A LOT OF SPACE - feel free to partake.
What a waste of Tax payers money. Ridiculous. On that first one.
Is costing more having them there than removing them and hurting tourism that brings money to California
What exactly a citation going to do? He is probably going to flush it down the toilet. 😂
oh and special thanks to the public sanitation crews for dismantling these areas also
Oh my gosh, I hope they get "hazard pay"! The stuff they have to expose themselves to. Ugh!
Good Morning Police Department, would you like a Latte? USELESS!!!!!!
having that noisy garbage truck sitting right outside that camp is a nice touch
we appreciate when the police are allowed to enforce the laws, now if only the DA and prosecutors would
The no camping ordinance came right in time. Now just a few more laws need to be tighten up and we will be back on track
This nightmare is over....time to return to normalcy
You think?
Where are the social workers?!
Turn the truck off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loitering criminals
its a constant job, looks so much better without tents lining the streets and beaches ruining a nice tourist area.
It’s about time
Why wait for this to get to this point. We have stupid people in charge.
Issue a citation? For what? No money to pay! No home address to locate! Most likely no phone!
For illegally camping in a place that you’re not supposed to be camping in. Duh
Enforce the US Constitution and stop allowing people to become nuisance to the public especially against children and elderly.
Yes finally they are enforcing these rules enough is enough
SWEET refuse truck! Musta cost a fortune.
Is it even legal to drive that old camper with all that junk on top?
😂
It’s not traveling on the road is it?
Thumps down 👎 do not cover their faces.
Fine, you've got to write the citation...to make it all 'official/due process' and then ya'll leave > de-escalation (also could be a 'set-up' in order to record salacious video which then can be converted to cash....). These actions make sense.
But I assuming, on the following days, the homeless residents will be arrested and the structure taken down if they are still there...
Hey, save the cart person. There goes another nasty cart filled with homeless garbage 🗑! And germs!
We need low income, section 8 RV parks with some type of security and we also need to improve our shelters. Our shelters suck. They are unsafe and people don’t want to be there which is completely understandable especially if you’re a woman and have children not everyone is equipped or capable of putting up with the system of slavery or a cubicle mentality. How hard is it to install plexiglass spaces with latches for people instead of building $165 million luxury apartments which will probably turn into projects
Look up who own Clean Harbors Environmental

Isn’t there a 72 hour hold b4 trashing items
No
Leaving a trash truck running right outside peoples homes is bs! Turn it off till you need it.
I called that out it's stupid.
It's about time!
Not enough shelters and people dont feel safe in them, so where do you push them to?
Build tunnels like the ones in vegas, the campers naturally reside and form a thriving underground community well out of sight
They're trying to get them to buy their 2 million dollar homes.
disrespecting the flag
Nice. Restore order, safety, and cleanliness.
If they have money to buy tents, they have money to pay these citations. Stop enabling these people to remain homeless and continue to use drugs. They wreck havoc in our neighborhoods. Enough is enough!
Ha!....Y'all needs too so something about those rents...or else the homeless situation gets worse and worse...no amount of cosmetic surgery can change this
I understand why some people in the community don't want to see this, but imagine being the person living there having all your worldly possessions put into a garbage truck. It's sickening how much society dehumanizes people who are homeless.
feel sorry for the unfortunate folks but the good of many outweighs the good of few...
Imagine being in that bathroom changing and you look up to a ten person tent right outside the window. In my desolate hood you can smell the crack the second they pull up to park all night dealing drugs around me. They have truckers come loiter all night s few blocks down like they do business all night long if you catch my drift? They are so bold they blare bass hood music all night long.

go build that shit in the woods or some where out of site , not in a dayam town home neighborhood. Fucking Genius..
All the citizens taxes payer should suit the country and state local government. Cause the homeless buy hot meal and have cell phone. The government doesn't go through this issue..
How about letting them sleep in trees?
The Supreme Court rule no camping any where except camping era. They can not put there tent on side walk parks any where.
Blaming the wrong people. This problem started when Reagan closed mental institutions 40 years ago. The promised private sector help never materialized. A cycle of addiction and self-medication happens which has resulted in the inability to maintain their own housing. I don't agree with the entitlement that 'campers' display. But this is a decades old problem. Another poor policy decision that we are paying the unintended consequences for.
Bunch of DEI cops and workers....Just standing around...👌
Why do people do what they do? Because they can. Homelessness is a major problem in California because it's allowed to be. There are some cities in California that don't have homeless issues. Why? Because they don't allow it.
Homelessness isn’t a California problem. It’s a problem where the weather is nice and people can spend more time outside. Even where the weather is more harsh there is a problem with homelessness. I’m pretty sure California isn’t in control of those other states.
@theskyehiker I live in Highland, which borders San Bernardino. Highland doesn't have homeless sleeping in parks, on the streets, and in business entryway. Why? Because Highland doesn't allow it.
Why do people do what they do? Because they can. Instead of keep throwing billions of dollars at homelessness it's proven not to work what should happen is is they should be incarcerated put through a drug rehab program and job training program to actually try and turn their lives around. 90 + percent of homeless are homeless because of drugs and or alcohol. If we're going to spend money on homeless then, let's spend it more wisely and actually help them
I love it
how is this possible...camping on the street ..in my country we have camping place ...and the homeless will negotiate with the police...catch and throw them...
Punishment no reward 🙏 please don't kill me
Police right to control people's use bathroom in any
US streets in the future and always.
Maybe people stay or sleeping in camping in US streets.
Maybe sleeping in the car's it's ok

Outstanding. Our kids should not have to see bums living in filth everyday.

Don't generalize all homeless people as bims. Some have mental health issues, lost their affordable apartment for various reasons beyond their control, etc and have no place to go. So much for this being a Christian nation, hypocrites, all of you
Gavin newsomes we'll fix it
