One thing Cathy stated in this video is something I want to expand on: The lack of a "Holy Trinity," as everyone can DPS. This is correct, but the game _does_ have a pseudo-holy trinity class setup for situations where you can't handle a fight solo or your party isn't too geared. I'll categorize them as such: DPS / Supportive DPS / Support Support: Ranger & Techter Out of the two, Ranger is the best support, as their Blight Rounds skill makes any point on an enemy (which is also usually a lock-on point) a weak point, drastically increasing not only your DPS, but everyone who hits it. It's a very easy way to increase overall damage against an enemy for very little effort. As for Techter, while not as effective, their Shifta/Deband buff increases overall DPS for anyone who enters its field, along with a nice defense boost. If forced to choose, Ranger should be taken over Techter if we're talking pure support benefits, but Shifta/Deband can definitely carry its own weight. If a party can have both, though, you absolutely should, as that gives the best party performance. Supportive DPS: Gunner & Force (Also Techter) What I call "supportive DPS" are classes that are known for lower DPS output than all the other DPS classes, but make up for it with something that substantially benefits parties. For Gunner (and this is a recent change), they gained the ability to restore nearby players' PP upon using a high- or full-count chain finisher, offering everyone reliable upkeep of PP and therefore their damage. Force is also lower on the DPS charts, but they have access to the ability to reliably proc elemental downs, which increases party damage purely from putting the enemy into a groggy state more often. Techter also counts as supportive DPS due to that as they regularly use elemental mechanics, though not to the same degree as Force, technically making them a hybrid of support and supportive DPS. DPS: Everyone else Every other class specializes in "hit thing hard" in their own various ways. Lot of people claim class [X] or [Y] is the best DPS for various reasons, but frankly, their kits (and player skill demands) have enough variety to make the argument go one way or the other for various situations. I would advise simply looking into each class more and seeing if not only would it do what you feel is best for output, but if attaining that output is within a reasonable enough ask for your playstyle.
Now I'm not sure, but doesn't charged up wand accumulate both physical and elemental down? Why do I say that, it's because of the balloon stomach enemies (sorry for not remembering the names), as with the correct elemental wand change I can destroy their stomachs using normal attack, unless it counts as only elemental attacks while charged up.
It's been 2 years since I played... I had severe anxiety 2 years ago. But the game looks attractive... maybe I should just restart everything from the beginning. Thank you for video
Great guide and appreciated especially as a techter. Words of the day from the guide : UPGRADING roughly once a year! Once you hit level 85 and have your best in slot gear (specifically armors) there is really no need to upgrade, often you're best served by continuously upgrading your existing armor instead having to enhance and re-augment new pieces. You'd be surprised at what level of BP and potency you can achieve playing the "long game" when it comes to swapping armors.
Excellently well done guide. It's good to know that the 10 star gear will last players for 1 full year like you mentioned which i prefer instead of a gear that players invest their time powering up/grinding for in MMOs becomes obsolete/outdated too soon whenever a new and better series of gear are added. I wish the game had a "refund/undo" option so that way whenever i make a mistake from powering up my gear improperly' my resources that i invested time grinding for would be refunded and undo my mistakes. I'm an average player who's not very good powering up my gear properly. Keep up the good work.
I have just started, and it seems so fun but hard to get into Im excited to learn the games systems, and oh man, the fashion seems fun to mess around with
Will def be referencing this video to anybody I know who ever wants to give the game another shot. Maybe Sega can work on condensing the amount of exchange shops because coming back it is a LOT to look at and look through but you did an amazing job going over them all.
Great and comprehensive guide. Noticed that the GP points exchange shop got more items and faster refresh, but didn't dwell further into it so i completely missed the Time Attack quest. Guess there is something new to try next time i log in. While I still find the guide extremely well done, not sure how it would fare for new or occasional players. But the main takeaway is: UGRADING ONCE A YEAR. Rocked Neos A for the longest time, until they introduced Flugelgard and a month or two later Reyaar series. Something that I'd like to mention is choosing the right armor. Personally i switch a lot between classes, just to break up the monotone feeling (am not even thinking while playing as Techter, just bonk), so am currently using the neutral Einea armor/unit, as making 3 sets of armor became too expensive. Need just one set of augments too and van freely switch between classes without thinking about armor. Now I'm not sure but did you mention loadouts? Again someone that switches around classes it a nice tool to have.
Was thinking on making a new character for a while now. Made it on another ship too (ship3 and there is a lot more activity there, from what I heard 1 and 2 are even more populated). What surprised me is the amount of low level players, now not sure if they made new characters like me, but the amount is fascinating. So adding "Choosing the right ship can help in a lot of ways, whether you want more solo play or people to play around with". Considering I started after the seasonal event ended I'm quite low on meseta, but it doesn't really matter that much. Surprisingly all bound to account phashion items can be used, but sadly not the stored items (maybe if I was on the same ship). Red containers, Cocoon and Towers are also still registered, so I was able to fully activate skill trees. Low level augments can actually be purchased for cheap, but still accumulates quite a lot . Currently am using the free weapons (Hextra and Renaissa units) with some augments changed. The need of arms refiner to limit break them is annoying though as there isn't any easy way outside of events to get them. Something more for the game developers "Changing some rewards from side tasks would be really nice, I don't need 3 Gold Primm Armor +20". Though another thing is a bit contradicting "Don't dwell too much on your weapons, use the free stuff, it is good enough till endgame". Currently just finished the Retem main story, though skipped a lot of the cutscenes. Raised my new character to lvl42 and am thinking of whether to got to Kvaris or do some more side tasks.
Thanks for the video. Hopefully in 6 months time, you can post an updated Newbie / Returning player guide. Now I gotta sell all of my level 70 trash and farm all over again. Also no idea whats meta for my class anymore(I'm a Bouncer and Braver main) so I'm extra lost. Guess I'll figure it out. Eventually. *sigh*
Definitely will do! With the augment transfer system its very easy now to move your hard earned augments onto new piece of gear! Also i dont think you need to worry about whats meta or what isn't, usually the newest rarity weapons work well on most classes and the new farmable LC augments make budget gearing really simple!

I had tried pso2 on jp servers when it came out with player translation patches and thought the game was an empty shell compared to psobb and didn't play long. I didn't like the levels, they seemed too restrictive and all over the place. I also didnt like that all characters basically turn into spin tops late game. Just too much spam and not enough weight behind the atk. Then pso2 released for everyone else, then soon turned into NG. Just FAR too much junk going on. In other good mmos, ur slowly fed new things like in WoW or FF14, but these jp mmos seem to just dump u in with a billion different windows/currencies/samey-items all in the first 10min. It seems like more of a pop-up phone game's UI than a real mmo. Idk, not for me even tho I LOVED psobb and psu? Pso2NG just seems too far from those games imo. Do you mean Personal Quaters? We do get Creative Spaces which are that but on steroids. You can build the best personal quater you've ever dreamed off in there~ > How badly are u gimped as a ftp? You do lose some Quality of Life features but a lot of them can be bought with SG if you'd like to have them as a F2P. SG (star gems) being a freemium currency. The biggest drawback of being a F2P is lacking access to the player market. You can always buy items from it but not sell. As a F2P you only get one 3 days shop ticket per month and I've been pushing for Sega to hand out more because a single one is ridiculously little. I do getcha though. PSO2's biggest issue always has been that it just has too much stuff to absorb and get the hang of. Sometimes less is more~ Thanks for giving the video a try though ❤️ Take care~

Do you mean Personal Quaters? We do get Creative Spaces which are that but on steroids. You can build the best personal quater you've ever dreamed off in there~
> How badly are u gimped as a ftp?
You do lose some Quality of Life features but a lot of them can be bought with SG if you'd like to have them as a F2P. SG (star gems) being a freemium currency. The biggest drawback of being a F2P is lacking access to the player market. You can always buy items from it but not sell. As a F2P you only get one 3 days shop ticket per month and I've been pushing for Sega to hand out more because a single one is ridiculously little.
I do getcha though. PSO2's biggest issue always has been that it just has too much stuff to absorb and get the hang of. Sometimes less is more~
Thanks for giving the video a try though ❤️ Take care~
Great guide btw, now i won't be playing the game like a headless chicken, picking up all the quests and keeping all items i see 🫠
