I remember listening to this album for the first time, covered in goosebumps because of how beautiful each track was. I love watching reviews bc it takes me to that place again. Wish I could experience the feeling again 😭
Especially the first album. Who would’ve thought to combine trap beats and alternative indie vocals?? Like wtf 😂😂 but yeah, it’s hard to find music like hers. Early SZA (before CTRL Era) would be the closest but SZA early work definitely has a different sound than Lana’s.... it’s crazy to not find similar music but it has to be out there
@@micahcook2408 funny cause I don't really listen to female artist that much(sorry if doesn't sound right) but Lana if the first female I really dive into her music catalogue funny enough it was SZA who i really vibe a lot a few years later.

Which is why I think some simply just don't "get" or know wtf the point is. Not that it's a complex thing to do. I don't think it's about intelligence. rar. Even though she has had all that, she still doesn't get enough recognition and credit. A lot of people didn't know who Lana was until her collab with Ariana Grande back in November. Lana is really on recognized for her popular songs off BTD and her Lust For Life collabs. High By the Beach is also an honorable mention. Her music isn't necessarily radio friendly nor what people want to play on the radio because it doesn't align with modern pop and production so she is severely underrated in that stance.
I don't know if he'd love Ultraviolence if he's expecting a followup of Born to Die. I think before going into UV, he must be reminded that he's going into deeper and darker territories. Personally, I love UV the most
The chronological order of the records show us the growing of Lana, her thoughts, her mind. Like a fan (since 2012) I have to say NFR! is her best album for the moment. Is honest, sincere and mature. Her voice is clear and the instrumental is wonderfull. After so many years I didn't think she was going to surprise me with something better, but she shut my mouth and blow my head. My top three: 1 - Norman Fucking Rockwell! 2 - Ultraviolence 3 - Born to Die
I’ve listened to the album religiously since it was released when I was a teen. It’s so refreshing and heartwarming to see someone’s first reaction listening to this. It takes me back
Lana and Abel are the same person musically, Abel said it himself in an interview that she’s the girl he sings about and he’s the guy she sings about. They’re each other’s counterparts.
Be warned though, her other albums are way slower and less hip hop than this one. I love this album so much but I also love her slower stuff, and since you don’t seem to as much I hope you go into the other albums with lower expectations!
The fact that so many people react to Born To Die 5-8 years after its release and don't mention anything about the songs feeling outdated, but timeless. Lana is truly an artist
3 years after this comment, born to die is still earning its biggest streaming days ever! Only a few days ago it got over 7.3 million streams in a day and was the oldest album in the top 10 most streamed that day. Not to mention it’s still the longest charging debut of all time
I have heard of her before from when summertime sadness got popular but that was it... until I started listening her in last last year to some of her unreleased stuff. And since lockdown I listened to a lot of her stuff and got hook. She is just so addicting and her music just slaps 😂
Yes! It’s so rare people would react to “Off To The Races” they way you did. I mean build up and then the outro got me tear up. And I definitely can relate to your reaction! That song was so underrated. Born To Die was her best era, best discography. The aesthetics 💯💯💯❗️
Elliot Cortese I mean.. I think I agree with “uhhhhh.” This album has a lot of problems and tbh I don’t think she really hit her stride until Honeymoon. Love parts of this album to death, but this album doesn’t survive outside of the cult appreciation and the then novelty of mixing classical motifs with Hip-Hop styled production.
Fun Fact: On Birds Pt 2. Abel uses his voice to mimic Lana Del Ray. Hes been a huge fan of hers; and shes a huge fan of him. Hence the starboy and stargirl.
Welcome to the lyrical genius that is Lana Del Rey! There's a reason why this album has spent over 300 weeks on the billboard 200 chart. I don't think I've ever heard the words parody, pastiche, cadence and enunciation in a reaction video. Great reaction/commentary. Definitely subscribing👍
I'm overjoyed by this video. I am so happy to see you discover the beautiful work of art that Lana Del Rey is. Through your reactions and responses I was able to relive listening to this album like I did the first time, and that is a gift far greater than u know. Thank you.
It's gonna be a wild ride. Five albums, from hip-hop to grunge to grand ballad to hippies to americana, you will not have another Born To Die album. Bonus -You can listen to Pop Lana through her unreleassed tracks.
Jon is THE GREATEST REACTOR on RUclips! Thank you for listening to Lana, she is severely an underrated artist that everyone thinks is a mainstream pop princess when in fact is a poet with layers and meanings in her songs
@@michaelacaleb7919 I was reading a lot about that, but all of it are just theories. I believe she is singing abou the same guy in born to die, ultraviolence and honeymoon. In born to die she is singing about how he hurt her and that she will always love him - ultraviolence is much more darker, as she goes into details of that relationship (she describes him as cult leader and a depressed person). some fans believe his name is jim, as she mentions that name in a lot of songs, even the unrealeased ones (maybe it's jimmy gnecco, as she wrote a song about him and it was leaked). well what i know for sure is that her song In my feelings is about G-Eazy fucking her over Halsey and I believe Mariners Apartment Compplex is about Barrie James O'neill
Megi Rosic I believe the Jim she references is actually Jim Bean (because she said her first love was alcohol and her choice of drink was whiskey when she was an alcoholic), Jim Jones (because of the guru she followed in NYC), and Jim Morrison because she explicitly uses his name. Jimmy Gnecco is a musician who actually opened for lana on one of her tours, and they met in 2014, but he said on instagram that he’s not the one. i don’t believe she’s singing about jimmy gnecco because the time periods of when they met and when she wrote the songs do not really coincide (plus she reuses/repurposes lyrics a lot, so my personal theory is that she used the name jim once and if stuck because it’s pretty versatile and can have a lot of interpretations) i think jim might not be the actual name of the person but just a pseudonym
lana is a poet, on her insta she sometimes posts her poems and they are delightful. that's why i love her so much, she writer her truth, unlike way too many others. she, and amy winehouse, are my only queens, and i feel there is something similar between these two. my favourite album of lana's is ultraviolence tho, you should react to that!
You can't never ever be bored with LDR's album. Ultraviolence prolly one of the album that affected my life the most. Whenever I put this on play, my whole mood gonna change & triggered past memories instantly.
I knew about her and listened to a couple of her songs but one of my friends showed me her music videos while we were smoking and that shit hit way different lol
5:32 it's actually kind-of about Lolita :D "Lolita. Light of my life, fire of my loins." is how Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov starts. Since that's a story about a pedophile, I'm guessing this song is romanticizing relationships between young girls with daddy issues and older man. Still one of my favorite songs tho, that trope hides a lot of tragedy underneath.
I never thought about it that way tbh and it just further proves how genius Lana is. Her lyrics can be interpreted in so many ways and it can be looked at from many points of view 😍
i’m really glad you like her and can appreciate this album. a quick fyi, her other albums have just as much quality in every way but are more on the slower side. she still has more “upbeat” tracks and plays with hip hop and pop but it’s on the slower side but as i said they’re still amazing, quality, beautiful albums. also when listening to her albums please don’t forget her E.P. paradise! it’s also very good and important to her discography that really shows how talented she is
When you said she doesn’t have a restrained voice, made me instantly think of one of her songs called 13 beaches. You will have chills the whole way through
One of the reasons why this channel is awesome is that it feels like we're listening to these amazing albums for the first time THROUGH you. So thank you Jon, keep it up
Fun fact: Abel discovered Lana with her Videogame song, he said he felt blessed and decided to collaborate with her because of the incredible harmonies and amazing vocals she had.
i could just listen to lana del rey hum for a whole album and i'd be satisfied. theres something about the sound of her voice thats melancholy and dream-like.
I really really like your analysis. Can't wait to see Ultraviolence album reaction, it's very dark and rock. It's incredible how Lana can manage a lot of different genres.

Her music isn't necessarily radio friendly nor what people want to play on the radio because it doesn't align with modern pop and production so she is severely underrated in that stance.
rar. not indie!! but very much alternative
Hope you do all her albums, you’re gonna love Ultraviolence
I know!! I hope he does Ultraviolence. It will change his life.
born to die is a classic but i think ultraviolence and norman fucking rockwell! are her best so far, can’t wait for his reaction!!
YES ULTRAVIOLENCE IS THE GREATEST
Every album is different. You should go in order, if you're going to do all her albums. :D
I really hope he does. I’m looking forward for it already.
Yes I agree. Listening to the albums in order one will get the full affect.
I’ve listened to the album religiously since it was released when I was a teen. It’s so refreshing and heartwarming to see someone’s first reaction listening to this. It takes me back
dark paradise is so underrated it's one of my favourites. also one of the first songs of hers that i heard.
Props to this guy for not crying lol
how do u explain this then 12:12
Wait until he reacts to Ultraviolence haha
Robust x literally what I said lmao
I think he did. That’s when the sunglasses came out. At least that’s what I’m gonna believe
When that hat went down, those tears were welling up. We can all relate!
Smiling throughout this entire thing because I feel like I’m listening to this for the first time again. Experiencing all the emotions with him 😍
Same vibey
A D sameee thats why i like watch reactions haha
same! nothing will ever compare to the first time of listening
Literally why I like watching his reactions
Lana and Abel are the same person musically, Abel said it himself in an interview that she’s the girl he sings about and he’s the guy she sings about. They’re each other’s counterparts.
Way better than Abel lmao
@@elivincent3795 art is not a competition.
eli vincent nah nothing comes close to trilogy
yes
eli vincent
Both are equally great. My two favorite male and female pop stars, by far.
She shouldve won a grammy with this album
He likes AND understands Lana Del Rey - subscribed
😭😭♥️♥️♥️🖤🖤🖤
same
Be warned though, her other albums are way slower and less hip hop than this one. I love this album so much but I also love her slower stuff, and since you don’t seem to as much I hope you go into the other albums with lower expectations!
Maria C I love Lana
Exactly
Lust for Life and Honeymoon have hip hop influences in certain tracks
I love that her sounds change up from album to album! It seems like she fits every sort of sound with her storytelling & poetry. She’s so talented. 💗
Each album has its own majesty, distinct but cohesive with each other, listening to her albums needs you to be in different moods also
Lana SZN is coming and you are in for a treat, man. This is only the beginning.
when is it coming :0 ?
Lana szn is the summer (at least i think that’s what he means 🤗) california, beaches etc
YESSSSS
off to the races is truly mindblowing, also radio was everywhere in london, you couldn't enter a urban outfitters without hearing it lol
the genius of this debut can NOT be understated... if it weren’t for her botched SNL performance she would’ve hit legend status by now.
she is now
Just wait until this man reaches Art Deco/Heroin.
Oh shit 👀😢
heroin especially. my fave ldr song of all time.
Omg Heroin is definitely one of my top 10 of hers
God yes
OW oh dear god he is not ready for heroin or imagine him watching the ride music video
Also one thing with Lana, Always do the Deluxe tracks or you’re gonna miss out
I legitimately get so emotional watching people listening to anything Lana for the first time WOOOF. Thank you for this
ikrrr it's like reliving your own first listening experience
right! it’s a constant state of frisson for me
same here sister :)))))
YES!!! I kept tearing up for some reason. I couldn't stop smiling! I just love how you can tell he is really feeling it 🥰
man same i love her so much, not alot of ppl appreciate her :( especially her older music under lizzy grant
Watching the process of someone becoming a Lana stan is a beauty to behold.
Not to mention it’s still the longest charging debut of all time
It still amazes me that TO THIS DAY there’s people that haven’t listened to Lana Del Rey like tf
I was young when this album was released so I just recently got around to listening to her :)
Ikr!!!!
Hope they get well soon ❤❤❤
Guillermo Aguirre RIGHTT
I have heard of her before from when summertime sadness got popular but that was it... until I started listening her in last last year to some of her unreleased stuff. And since lockdown I listened to a lot of her stuff and got hook. She is just so addicting and her music just slaps 😂
FINALLY A MASTERPIECE IS BEING RESPECTED
lol
Honestly this album deserved at least four to five Grammys.
yes tea. Grammy is shit
Tristan Mendoza Scammyyyy
The Grammy's don't deserve lana
6 actually
Yes! It’s so rare people would react to “Off To The Races” they way you did. I mean build up and then the outro got me tear up. And I definitely can relate to your reaction! That song was so underrated.
Born To Die was her best era, best discography. The aesthetics 💯💯💯❗️
The first time I heard ldr off to the races was playing at a store and I wrote it down the lyrics so I could go home and figure out who it was lol
@@elizabethbednar6338based asf lol. Would’ve done the same tbh
OMG, the Joker reference you're talking about is really accurate. I've heard this album million of times and never thought about it.
There's a fan made mv of this song that uses the joker and Harley Quinn scenes for it.....I was so excited when he said that
You gotta listen to her catalog in chronological order!!!!
!!!!
This album is without a doubt the strongest debut album I’ve ever heard from an artist
uhhhhhh
G C hands down
Elliot Cortese I mean..
Iam Gay lana is my top 3 i love her but this album just im my opinion in meh. it does have some bangers tho
Fun Fact: On Birds Pt 2. Abel uses his voice to mimic Lana Del Ray. Hes been a huge fan of hers; and shes a huge fan of him. Hence the starboy and stargirl.
oh wow I didn't know that. Where did you learn this?
@@anastasiah8683 he said this in his early interviews. I believe it was on Reddit where he did questions and answers too.
Clicked out of curiosity stayed until the end because it was like listening for the first time again. Lana is a god
430 or something now. A masterpiece
I'm overjoyed by this video. I am so happy to see you discover the beautiful work of art that Lana Del Rey is. Through your reactions and responses I was able to relive listening to this album like I did the first time, and that is a gift far greater than u know. Thank you.
Even after nearly 10 years this album hits me HARRRDDD! So profound
It's gonna be a wild ride.
Five albums, from hip-hop to grunge to grand ballad to hippies to americana, you will not have another Born To Die album.
Bonus -You can listen to Pop Lana through her unreleassed tracks.
THE UNRELEASED ARE INCREDIBLE
I miss BTD era. Even though I love Honeymoon and NFR... BTD was goold
“I’m seeing it like a movie” YES THATS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL
I feel cheated I wanna experience this album for the first time again
You just put me on to Lana Del Rey. I really wasn't aware she is this fire hahah the only song I knew from her was Video Games
Welcome to the darkness !
@@jennyB07 More like to the Light
You just stepped into the rose garden
Jon is THE GREATEST REACTOR on RUclips! Thank you for listening to Lana, she is severely an underrated artist that everyone thinks is a mainstream pop princess when in fact is a poet with layers and meanings in her songs
Please please please do more Lana albums. This was the best reaction I’ve ever seen anyone do holy shit. You really get it!
Watch Ajay’s she literally cries within two seconds of NFR starting lol
in majority of her songs she's actually singing about the same guy, whom she was very in love, but he was very toxic
Do you know who the guy was?
@@pinkprincessgirlypop yeah that actually makes sense, thanks👍😄
Radio is a dreamy experience. Te instrumentals is phenomenal in that track.
lana is a poet, on her insta she sometimes posts her poems and they are delightful. that's why i love her so much, she writer her truth, unlike way too many others. she, and amy winehouse, are my only queens, and i feel there is something similar between these two. my favourite album of lana's is ultraviolence tho, you should react to that!
You should try Yuna
Ultraviolence is a MASTERPIECE
yes!! her, amy, and fiona apple are my song writer queens!!
You can't never ever be bored with LDR's album. Ultraviolence prolly one of the album that affected my life the most. Whenever I put this on play, my whole mood gonna change & triggered past memories instantly.
Wow its exactly the same for me
"Prolly" OMFG
Word
My gf showed me Lana when I was high and I was mesmerised
Same dude😂
I knew about her and listened to a couple of her songs but one of my friends showed me her music videos while we were smoking and that shit hit way different lol
@@Guti_o9 was it shades of cool?
Christian Gutierrez yeh man I watched ride about 5 times that night hahah
That's probably the best way to be introduced to her music 😂
5:32 it's actually kind-of about Lolita :D "Lolita. Light of my life, fire of my loins." is how Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov starts. Since that's a story about a pedophile, I'm guessing this song is romanticizing relationships between young girls with daddy issues and older man. Still one of my favorite songs tho, that trope hides a lot of tragedy underneath.
I'm sad you didn't listen to three more songs off the album: Without You, Lolita, and Lucky Ones. You should definitely do it
Yesssss
definitely listen to Ultraviolence which is her next album, it has a lot of rock influence you would appreciate !
that joker harley quinn comparison for off to the races was insanely accurate 🤯
I never thought about it that way tbh and it just further proves how genius Lana is. Her lyrics can be interpreted in so many ways and it can be looked at from many points of view 😍
It references Lolita directly a lot tho, another interesting viewpoint
There’s an edit of the song to hq and joker you can search it on yt it’s amazing!!
Not at all. The joker didnt love or care for harley. The lolita story is about a man who loves a young girl.
i’m really glad you like her and can appreciate this album. a quick fyi, her other albums have just as much quality in every way but are more on the slower side. she still has more “upbeat” tracks and plays with hip hop and pop but it’s on the slower side but as i said they’re still amazing, quality, beautiful albums.
also when listening to her albums please don’t forget her E.P. paradise! it’s also very good and important to her discography that really shows how talented she is
I always get goosebumps from her. She‘s by far my absolute favorite artist. Even her unreleased songs are FIRE
I just love how you can have so many memories attached to this album, its impossible to listen and not be taken back to a moment or a feeling.
When you said she doesn’t have a restrained voice, made me instantly think of one of her songs called 13 beaches. You will have chills the whole way through
13 Beaches is my favourite song of hers. Gave me chills seeing her perform it live.
@kimochi yes indeed! That's how I feel with almost the whole Honeymoon album too.
Jaime M cried
kimochi also cried
One of the reasons why this channel is awesome is that it feels like we're listening to these amazing albums for the first time THROUGH you. So thank you Jon, keep it up
Fun fact: Abel discovered Lana with her Videogame song, he said he felt blessed and decided to collaborate with her because of the incredible harmonies and amazing vocals she had.
she is giving me goosebumps again and again...
“Uh excuse me, that’s a fucking amazing lyric.”
i could just listen to lana del rey hum for a whole album and i'd be satisfied. theres something about the sound of her voice thats melancholy and dream-like.
I really really like your analysis. Can't wait to see Ultraviolence album reaction, it's very dark and rock. It's incredible how Lana can manage a lot of different genres.
"Off to the races" is one of her bests songs, IMO.
God her voice is so good in that sonf

Million Dollar man is the most sensual, sexy song ever man!!
True. I could hear this song in a Bond movie.
She performed this at iTunes festival truly mesmerizing! The best version
I didn't realise how hard it was until I tried to sing it haha
You obviously have heard her song “the man I love” it sounds like it would be perfect for a burlesque show 🥵🥵😍❤️
Sorry but burning desire is number 1 for me
i was just thinking about how you need to react to lana soon and my wishes have come true. best reaction channel going
I’m getting chills watching this just like the first time I heard the album about 8 years ago..... I was 12 and I’m almost 21 now. It’s so crazy to be able to hold an album like this so close to my heart, this is the music that raised me ✨
Can’t actually believe you had never heard “Summertime Sadness” which is still such a hit song 😨😂
The remix is a hit. I personally think they butchered it
Jackie Elizabeth i agree, the original is so much better and intense. lanas original melody matches the lyrics so much better!! it lets us feel it since it’s a pretty dark song lyrically
ALICE GRILLO such a banger
Jackie Elizabeth I love both versions
I like both for different reasons
his reactions are making me smile so much, i feel like a proud mother 😂
during million dollar man he was like *🤓🥺😫🤩*
At 8:00 when you said "I'm seeing it like a movie" I feel that every time I listen to her music, it feels like being transported to a different era
If he liked Off to the Races that much imagine when he listens to the live version.
Shit, he needs to react to that video from 9 or i think 11 years ago, that was hand down the best live off to the races she ever did
I saw your face and *LANA DEL REY* in the same thumbnail and I - - - *oop!*
1:01 - BORN TO DIE - this song haunts me 👏 TO 👏 THIS 👏 DAY... - “super star level, right away...”
4:01 - OFF TO THE RACES - this song is oozing... ‘loves me with every beat of his cocaine heart...’ - *sickening*
5:40 - that look on your FACE! *shook*
6:40 - BLUE JEANS - “I’m not joking, this is unbelievable - I can’t believe I haven’t heard this before...”
8:14 - VIDEO GAMES - “actually... it’s just a gorgeous, gorgeous song...”
9:10 - DIET MOUNTAIN DEW - *intersting* (I feel it’s a break in the album to just stop and absorb what’s happened before)
9:53 - NATIONAL ANTHEM - “these songs are too deep” - “I thought she was just a pop singer...”
11:47 - DARK PARADISE - (I love the drum bass in this song!) - “it’s not disappointing” - *puts on Ray Bans* - “dude! the lyrics...” - “the production on this record is FKN genius...”
13:52 - RADIO - personally I FKN loooooooove this song - it’s bittersweet - I saw you melt during the ‘sugar venom, yeah’ lyric... - “you just end up soaring away with it...”
15:24 - CARMEN - this one is odd... it’s kinky, naughty - she’s roleplaying in the song for a Daddy... - “again, she paints pictures with her words so brilliantly...”
18:00 - MILLION DOLLAR MAN - this is her jazziest song, vocally - I get lost in the ambience of the instrumentals, too...
20:02 - SUMMERTIME SADNESS - this song immediately tears me from the present, straight back to several years ago - so MANY memories and feelings with this song - “OH MY GOODNESS!” - “the way she uses her words... the FKN cadence... like a brilliant actress...” *RAYBANS*
21:55 - THIS IS WHAT MAKES US GIRLS - those drums coming back to top off the album - the production ALONE is dessert...
25:02 - this was fun - kept me company - I’m *OBVIOUSLY* extremely bored so I commented along - plus I’m done cleaning and sanitizing my place now - 🤘🤓
X. V. Thank you queen
My favorite thing about this is he starts off as someone who has never listened to Lana and then the shades come on and he has transitioned into the Lana listener: sitting back, jamming, and wondering why we were blessed this bliss.
Fun fact: the meaning behind DARK PARADISE is that it’s about someone she loved who died and she’s saying in the song that she’s scared when she dies they won’t be waiting on the other side.
yeah we got that. but it's also a double entendre. like scared that when she wakes up he won't be
on the other side of the bed.
The fact that you loved "off to the races" as much as I do melt my heart, you will be surprise that no many people love that song.
I subscribed immediately at that point
Everyone I know who listens to Lana loves Off to the Races, I think this is one of the album's highlights.
it’s my favourite Lana song, and that’s a lot to say
off to the races is quite literally a perfect lana song, especially how it manages to relate to the rest of the album while also clearly being its own entity
Nah, most people love it!
